The reason that article is nonsense is
A. the writer says "Peterson is the 12th highest paid player in the league at a time when RBs are less important than ever."
Yeah ok. Ask the Vikings coaches how important he is to their offense
and
B. Peterson will miss at least the entire 2014 season with a trial that won't start until 2015.
Again, no. He's a first time offender with zero criminal record. And the crimes were committed in Texas. A state with fairly understanding laws governing punishing children.
He's also a public figure, and besides that court would be pretty hesitant to set the precedent of locking dudes up for disciplining "bad" kids and accidentally hurting them. More likely he gets a lesser charge and a slap on the wrist. Maybe loss of custody, but that's not even what the mother wants so much. (to be honest it's not clear if she wants anything as some in here have implied. sounded like she just took her kid to the doctor and things happened quick.)
