we traded a backup QB who couldn't beat out tom savage, case keenum, and fitzpatrick, for a serviceable inside linebacker. i'll take it!

Pretty much coming down to people telling others what they SHOULD be offended by.

*Out of curiosity, where was this debate (on NT) 2-3 years ago? Are we now just on our moral high-horse, or is this something that has been eating at yall for all these years, but you're only now comfortable voicing your opinion?

totally irrelevant

whether some people are jumping on this issue now or have had these feelings for many years when it wasn't being publicly addressed - it doesn't matter.

it doesn't change the issue or give those who are supporting this racist logo/name any more weight to their side of the argument

I just want one damn Dipset fan to admit that the name is racist. Every single one of them changes the conversation when you ask them for a straight answer or to even acknowledge it.

Not worth the time on here.

A lot depends on the line but I really like the Steelers backfield with Bell, Blount and Dri Archer to change it up

Went in on Donald Sterling though :pimp:.

None of that:

- "he has a long standing racist tradition so he should be grandfathered
- "saying the n-word over the years has brought him so much joy and we'd be wrong to take that away"
- "making it an issue now is hypocritical; we need to step off our high horses and examine ourselves".

:pimp:

I just don't understand how somebody can sit there and listen to a rapper Say ***** in damn near every one of his songs but has a problem with a team name. That **** just don't add up to me. Yes I'm talking to the guy with Jay- Z in his avy.

As far as the name change it's not happening anytime soon. And I hope Danny holds strong. 60+ years. *****. And that's how I feel about it.
Well unfortunately for you champ, neither Jay Z or the use of the N-word is at the forefront of this discussion right now.  However, the name of your football team and your sheer ignorance on the matter is.  Which leads you right down a dead end street with no sign of hope or an outlet in sight.  Nice attempt to try and deflect attention away from the matter at hand, it simply isn't going to work however.  Now, lets talk about your beloved Washington Diplomats, you know the team that was suppose to be no worse than 11-5

according to your prediction from last year shall we.

You said "the name change it's not happening anytime soon".  Well I'm here to tell you, whether it's next year, 10 years, or 20 years from now or beyond, I'm quite hopeful that the name change will occur.  When it does I want YOU @JAYFIEND to be the first in line at the team store to pick up the new team name t-shirts and merchandise eager and ready with a smile on your face, you understand me.  It will no longer be acceptable for you to mock and disparage the Native American community, time is running out.

Some things in life are a process, like with building a house. You have to first dig up the dirt, put down the foundation, and then build the layers of the house from there.  That's exactly what's being done right now with the advocacy to change the team name.  With the pressure from the Native American community and yesterdays ruling from the Patent Office the foundation has currently been laid.  From here, we build and create layer upon layer of the house until it is complete, and by complete, I mean you and the rest of your Diplomat brethren, or those that think like you give in to the will of the people, be it by hook or by crook.

You live in the DMV right champ, that means wherever you are it's about 85 degrees and rising, but that's not just the outside temperature I'm talking about champ.  I'm talking about the heat and pressure that's beginning to rise on the topic of changing the team name.  Last year your quarterback RG3 said he was all in for Week 1.................well trust and believe me when I tell you that I'm all in for changing the team name and making sure you @JAYFIEND get dragged along the way, ALL IN!!  Same rules apply to the rest of your tag-alongs as well.
So because I'm a black man I HAVE to want the name changed??? Oh ok

I'm done with this.
You're a black man and yet here it is you stand side by side with the viewpoint of George Preston Marshall and align yourself with his legacy of racism??  I'll tell you what champ, when they change the team name I have an idea for a new name and logo that might be very much to your liking, check it out.......................

-Teams named by a known racist and dudes still wanna fight the "it isn't meant to be offensive" fight
if cats just came out and said they wanted to keep the name because they're attached to it I can understand that but Marshall knew what he was doing.

-I'll never understand dudes thinking that calling a person an Indian who isnt from India is ok

-Black men co-signing this garbage :smh:

It isn't like the NFL would pull some WWE style Benoit shenanigans with the history either. The historical games, championships, and seasons will all reflect the team name of the time, simply moving forward it would be an updated name. I've said numerous times my alma mater changed from ******** to the Redhawks due to the years and years of requests from the Miami tribe and the connotation of the name. A 25 year process but it was done and I (along with other alumni) were very happy and proud to see it changed. Sure some bickered when it went down but 16 years later it seems EVERYONE is ok and happy with the change.

NT note we can keep discussing this issue here or keep all Wash name topics in the sower are thread and allow this to be more football. Either works for me

Every time one of you use the n-word, no matter the ending you use, you're aligning yourself with America's legacy of racism. Do you really want to stand side by side with the viewpoints of those who made our people slaves, champ? I'm African American, and I never use the word because it's dumb and my father raised me not to. As a black man why would you co-sign using a word that was meant to disparage your ancestors? You think MLK was dreaming of a future where African Americans would refer to each other using this word in an endearing way? Hell no.

My father also raised me as a ******** fan and you know what? Maybe it's time to change the name, but don't act like you're holier than though since you're "all in" (what the hell are you gonna do about it? Post on here some more? That'll help.) when you're apart of the problem as well.

And I'm not deflecting, but I can already predict what your responses will be so this is the last time I'll comment on this topic.

First I was born in 1984 and George Preston Marshall was not the own of the Washington ******** at that time. John Kent Cooke was and now Daniel Synder. Two people not know for being racist as far as I know.

I do not share George Preston Marshall's views and will not defend them.

The N word is in play because it is a racial slur and like I said if you use it your opinion in this matter really means nothing to me.

In 10 - 20 years when the name is changed. I WILL Be the first in the team store to but all the discounted Skins gears I can get my hands on. Because no matter what they change the name to I will always be a Washington ******** fan. Nothing any of you or anybody else will change that.

I am not racist against Native Americans or other Race. Just a guy that has supported a Football team the last 30 years. Yes I am attached to that team and that team means a lot to me. More than I care to explain to you.

"I'm not racist I just dont care that this offends people"

"If you've ever done anything wrong ever you cant ever speak about anything wrong happening ever"

that pretty much sum it up?

madj55 madj55 way to ignore the part about the team being started by a known racist

^ you don't get it

But like my man up there said. Let's get back to straight football talk.

Like how the Washington ******** WILL win the NFC east this year. :pimp:

Yes you are deflecting.  Be that as it may, let me explain my use of the N-word to you.  I use the N-word, but not the N-word that you might be thinking about champ.  I say "Negus" as derived from Ethiopia........meaning "King" or "Kings".  You got that.  That's what I may call people of my kind here and there, or close friends of mine.  You don't use the N-word, cool that's your stance.  Since you are black, you should know that George Preston Marshall damn sure didn't care about you @madj55.  Why you would want to continue to take a bullet for him and his stance on the team name who knows, but just like George Preston Marshall, please know and realize that you are on the wrong side of history, and you will find out sooner rather than later.

The difference in this argument for you and those that think like you and want to deflect to the topic of the N-word is that it would be better suited for a discussion outside of the current topic at hand if you really feel that way, which is the changing of the team name.  The Patent Office didn't make a ruling on the usage of the N-word yesterday, but they did make a ruling on the trademarks of the Washington Diplomats, and thank goodness for that.

You can't even keep it real and be honest with yourself right now can you??  Your fighting tooth and nail to stand side by side with a former racist owner that named your beloved football team with racism in mind.  Enjoy getting all the gear with the current name on it now while you can, because the end is near for you and the name..........and I can't wait.
Like how the Washington ******** WILL win the NFC east this year.

You were dead wrong in your prediction regarding your team last year, why the hell should we even attempt to believe you this time around??

I'm guessing the alumni and students at the time cared and had as much invested with Miami as you do with a professional team. We all not only got over it but embraced it. The past won't be forgotten or erased

jets stay snitchin' :smh:

they're like the weaker little brother that gets picked on and has to go cry to mommy
