Is there really an ongoing discussion about Kurt Warner right now?

I need to update my ignore list.

Some of yous just ignore every fact you can, so you can pump up, Trent Green? His own wife would argue less for that man.

Warner has one of the most unique careers we'll ever see. His playoff numbers are stupid nice.

He's a toe tap and a 50 yard field goal away from 3-0 Super Bowls, while also bein one short arm away from 0-3. That's the game.

He also did mad numbers in those 3 bowls, numbers not matched by any other QB in history.

But hey, Trent Green fellas.
 
I'm surprised to see my borderline view of Warner in the HOF doesn't align with the football regulars I respect in this thread. My first hunch is he isn't a sure fire lock.

Why is everyone so sure that Warner is a sure fire lock? He had too many bad to meh years. Are people really ignoring he fact that he wasn't a good QB for a number of seasons and then getting mad about it?

Just like they'll ignore the 2 pick sixs he threw in the Super Bowls he lost

He will probably get in because quarterbacks are extremely overvalued

The body of great work is just too short though

If you're for him, you shouldve been for Terrell Davis then too

Elway played miserable in that Super Bowl. He wouldn't have got it without TD, but that's not what's important here.

I think the majority of you people have literally omitted the bulk of Warner's career from your minds. I know everyone loves an underdog story but facts are facts.

Terrell Davis produced at a all time great running back level for 3 years

You cant fault him for who he played with, if you don't take into consideration who Kurt Warner played with

The Denver system produced great numbers but none of those later rushers came close to producing what TD did

KInda like how Bulger and Green produced numbers but not as great as Warner and the Greatest show on Turf

I'm not one of those people who believe you have to win Championships to make it to the HOF.  There have been plenty of players who have sold-out and left their long-term team to join a proven winner in order to win a championship late in their careers.  I think it's a cop-out and alway pull against them.

elway didnt shine in sb 32 because they fed the ball to davis. they killed clock and kept the packs offense at bay. if denver got into a high scoring match with the pack they would of lost.


and miss me with all that TD system crap. how many rbs did denver 'produce' that put up numbers that TD did his 1st 4 years. only campbell and dickerson have more yards than him in their 1st 4 years and no rb in the hof has more tds in their first 4 years (56 rushing) than davis.

foh with that system 'produced'.

Those yards were definitely meaningful and his team needed them to be in position to win. My point is he probably wouldn't have gotten those yards had his teams got off to better starts rather than coming out sluggish. Kap threw for almost 400 yards in the Super Bowl, but it was because we had to come back.

I think the starting point of this argument was Kurt Warner and the HOF. Yards can be very misleading and it he does get into the Hall, I'm not sure his Super Bowl passing yards are going to matter much in his candidacy.

I respect those who feel Warner doesn't belong in the hall, though I do. His career was a roller coaster of huge highs and low lows. Very unique resume.

Well, crap...If that's what we were arguing about the whole time then yeah...I don't even really care about when he gets in. I just feel he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. First ballot or not.

In my eyes, the hall of fame is made up of the greatest to ever play the game and when it comes to quarterbacks, Kurt Warner is easily in the conversation from purely a football standpoint. On the field, gameday, regular season or post, he was one of the best quarterbacks to ever play. ONE of.
