NFL Discussion Thread: Pats win SB XLIX. Offseason begins

Tommy Kelly said this yesterday in an article:
“I saw the situation and I realized I probably wouldn’t be there,” Kelly said. “I couldn’t take busting my tail every day getting to a game and them taking me out of the game for someone who I know isn’t better than me, because he’s a cheaper option. Are we worried about money here? Or are we worried about winning?”
PREACH. I'd dap him up in person if I could.

...And wouldn't you know it, his presence on the d-line would be a huge positive right now.

I'm starting to think Dante Scarnecchia knew Kraft & Belichick's garbage this time around was too much to overcome so he retired...

Strong and true statement by Kelly, I'd clap him up if I could

The situation isn't good at all as of now

This Guy Right Here

Jaguars safety Winston Guy started the first game of the season against Philadelphia and played 100 percent of the defensive snaps, a feat he repeated during Jacksonville’s Week 2 loss to Washington. In Week 3, he played 81 percent of the defensive snaps before being benched by Gus Bradley for freelancing and taking too many penalties.

During Jacksonville’s 33-14 loss in San Diego on Sunday, Guy (no. 22) played just one defensive snap. This was that snap:

The Jaguars cut Winston Guy on Monday morning.

He's preaching nothing new though, lots of teams do this.

It just goes ignored in New England because well it's New England.

Why did BB scrap his two WR? All apart of his plan. They see KC again in the playoffs with all hands on deck and will be a different team.

There's a reason why I highlighted the last part of his statement though.

NFL teams cut vets all the time to get younger at a position. Agreed. But which teams do you see in "win now" mode cut a vet who is clearly better than his counterpart just to save a few hundred thousand dollars?

Not millions. Not a million. A few hundred thousands...which is chump change to these owners.

Mind you..Kelly had already re-worked his contract in the offseason to a team friendly deal.

Another thing...last time I checked, the Patriots were $12M under the salary cap.

what if raiders land mariota and ruin him? :nerd: :smh:

They really better pray they completely suck so they're not even remotely inclined with keeping Sparano as the head coach there past this year. They need an innovative offensive mind as their coach if they plan on taking Mariota, Hundley, Petty or Jameis.

They're $12 million under the cap. That's enough to get Thomas something other than a 4 foot white guy and a broken down Buick to throw to..

Pats fans are not allowed to use that excuse. Not after the 10,000 times I have read on this very message board how Tom Brady doesn't need great receivers because "he makes his receivers great." BB decided to use a coaches decision not to dress Dobson and Thompkins. Was strange too.

that's still true to a degree. he made average guys look pretty damn good.

at 37 years old, he deserves more. and needs more. and that's not really a knock on him to admit it at this point in his career.
