The wife didn't press charges though. Correct?

In the eyes of the law he didn't do anything? No formal charges were brought up?

Or am I completely wrong?

He was charged.

Accepted a deal to enter a diversionary program.

James Harrison was fined $125,000 for knocking out Colt McCoy a few years ago. Ray Rice fined $58,000 for knocking out his wife.

When a first time offender gets busted for failing a piss test - due to drugs - he gets 4 games. Ray Rice gets 2...what kind of laws do the NFL go by when coming down with their sanctions? What rule book / guidelines do they follow?

It's like they are playing rock paper scissors for suspensions
None of it makes any sense, theyre just picking games and dollar amounts out of a hat.

Even scumbag Ben got more games and he wasnt even formally charged with anything

This is too much...

The headline:
Former ******** player Fred Davis sought on domestic violence related charge in D.C.

Wasnt Fred the same one who fell asleep at the intersection loaded?

While I do agree with the NFL suspending Josh Gordon of course, a full 16 game ban doesn't seem logical at this point.

You ban him for 16 games (which ultimately means he can't attend practices, team meetings, can't stand on sidelines) that will further push him into position to worsen himself. So the NFL better not mess this up. They know what they're dealing with. These are young hot heads that really don't learn from their first couple of mistakes.

I think 8 games will be suitable for Josh. He can recover from that by staying in team facilities getting the help he needs to turn himself around.

Anything more than 8 games, and you can kiss Josh Gordon goodbye forever.

Dude is lucky he hasn't gotten a lifetime ban IMO...

Blackmon next to get 16 games

It ain't the NFL's job to protect that ******* idiot.

He deserves a year, if he screws up more, guess what, that ain't the NFL's fault, at all.

It's not that hard, stop doing drugs. The end, period.

Actually, it is the NFL's job to protect the kid - and that's why they offer programs to players who are dealing with drug abuse in these type of circumstances.

The NFL will look so dumb waiting this long to finally give him a year's-worth ban. Because that would mean the earliest he can return would be August of 2015, meaning he would miss out on First Day's, OTA's and mandatory workouts in 2015. Meaning he would literally be out an extra whole year...when they could've annouced this a month and a half ago, gave him the year ban and got this over with.

Josh Gordon will luck out in this case. The NFL will probably give him 8 games...but it's for their sake as well.

Beat your wife to unconciousness? 2 games.

Smoke weed two or three times? 16 games.

Doesn't make sense. The NFL looks at every case in a different way. No case is ever treated the same. And that is why it's taking this long.

Fred Davis and Justin Blackmon, SMH.  Two dudes that did it to themselves.
You can add Josh Gordon to that too :smh: ...and idk why yall suprised about ppl getting punished for weed or gettin lesser punishments for other crimes, weed is still illegal in most places and the NFL says you cant do it so if you get in trouble for that you r a dummy and its on u ...unless the NFL comes out with a detailed list of set punishments for each individual crime possible that a player can get into , just gotta deal with the randomness of punishments handed out...all they do is wait to see if the law can handle it, then throw out a number based on the player and what happened with the case

And its absolutely not the NFL's job to protect Gordon  ...they can try to help but if you keep ******* up there will be consequences until you are eventually out of the league

as a brown fan..just punish dude already..I dont understand whats the hold up..I honestly think if he didn't get the dui they were going to suspend him for a few games just so we could see him and johnny football play a couple games together

@ Jamaal Charles reason for showing up late..I swear he said something like that before

I don't agree with Gordon's suspension length, but at the same time, he deserves it. You can't continue to break the same rules, without expecting an escalating punishment.

It's not an employer's responsibility to care for an individual outside of working conditions IMO but it sure would be nice of them to do and help in the long run an individual
