While I do agree with the NFL suspending Josh Gordon of course, a full 16 game ban doesn't seem logical at this point.

You ban him for 16 games (which ultimately means he can't attend practices, team meetings, can't stand on sidelines) that will further push him into position to worsen himself. So the NFL better not mess this up. They know what they're dealing with. These are young hot heads that really don't learn from their first couple of mistakes.

I think 8 games will be suitable for Josh. He can recover from that by staying in team facilities getting the help he needs to turn himself around.

Anything more than 8 games, and you can kiss Josh Gordon goodbye forever.
It ain't the NFL's job to protect that ******* idiot.

He deserves a year, if he screws up more, guess what, that ain't the NFL's fault, at all.

It's not that hard, stop doing drugs. The end, period.

Beat your wife to unconciousness? 2 games.

Smoke weed two or three times? 16 games.

Doesn't make sense
Actually it does.................

Fred Davis and Justin Blackmon, SMH.  Two dudes that did it to themselves.
You can add Josh Gordon to that too
mean.gif
...and idk why yall suprised about ppl getting punished for weed or gettin lesser punishments for other crimes, weed is still illegal in most places and the NFL says you cant do it so if you get in trouble for that you r a dummy and its on u ...unless the NFL comes out with a detailed list of set punishments for each individual crime possible that a player can get into , just gotta deal with the randomness of punishments handed out...all they do is wait to see if the law can handle it, then throw out a number based on the player and what happened with the case

If it's "just weed" then why can't he just stop? I don't care what people's stance on the legalization of marijuana is. If you keep saying "it's only weed" in regards to Gordon, then you're missing the entire principle. His employer has asked him (and hundreds of other players) to comply with a rule and he continually neglects to do so.

Gordon ain't the only one smoking weed, but he's definitely not able to control his usage. He deserves to be suspended. He needs help. Now, Gooddell is a fool for only 2 games for Ray, but miss me with the leniency ya'll wanna give Gordon.

Knock your fiancee out unconscious = 2 games

Taking adderall = 4 games

Smoking a plant = 16 games

Gotcha.

People tend to forget Josh got busted with Codeine too (whether it was legit prescribed or not, who knows)

I think the league will reduce the suspension due to the direction they are moving forward on their views of marijuana...as well with the rest of the country.

There's probably a ton a players who smoke throughout the season and such and dont get caught ever. They dont even test during the season.

Josh's problem isnt just weed, his issues seem to stem past that

Just looking at the Rice case individually, regardless of others. 2 games? Really, 2 games??

Yeah I'm very confused about Rice's punishment, sending a very bad message.

it definitely looks bad and sends a bad message.

i think the actual law needs to punish him more for putting hands on his wife. there's no "don't beat your wife" rule in the NFL (doesn't excuse him). and it's a first offense (i think) of an off the field incident for ray. i get the 2 games the more i think about it. but what punishment did he receive outside of the NFL? couple nights in jail? that's the real issue.

but yeah...2 games for that while dudes are getting 4 for adderall sends the wrong message.

EDIT: and gordon deserves the 16 games. shouldn't be allowed to return until he gets help and goes to rehab

I wont say Rice's suspension should only warrant a 2 game suspension, but to those comparing suspensions w/ Gordon everyone seems to be ignoring he's a repeat offender. Thus far he's hasn't shown anything to lead you to believe he will change. If its 16 games so be it, I cant say id disagree with the suspension.

  at Gordon defenders.

The dude is a grown *** man, it is NOT the NFL’s job to protect his actions OFF the field. They have no say what he does with his free time. Just as my job can’t help me if I go out and run over a bunch of kids with my car. I’m on my own on that, same as Josh is with his actions.

Ray Rice has a ONE time offense. As stupid, and horrible, and deplorable as it is. And it certainly is a worse crime than smoking a plant. The difference is, this is Ray’s first “strike” against him. His first offense of trouble. He has done everything the NFL has asked since the incident, to make amends.

Josh, since he has been busted, has been busted again, then again, and then while waiting for punishment still, gets arrested for yet ANOTHER thing. IE, he just does not learn. He’s doing the exact opposite of what Rice did, which is get straight.

Josh deserves to be out a full year. Justin Blackmon? Deserves to be out a full year.

And Josh being out a year does not affect him next year, stop being so dramatic. The NFL can easily ban him for the LEAGUE year, which ends in March/April. At that point, he can be back on the clock, and ready for 2015.
Even if they suspended him til August 2015, he simply misses a few practices, and gets back in time for some work outs, preseason, and is ready for the opener in early September. It’s no different than a guy holding out. Emmitt Smith held out the first two SEASON games, and still played week 3. Lots of guys sit out preseason games, and are ready for the opener, no different for Josh.

I didn't know Aaron Ross went to Baltimore. He was money in the few games he played in NY last year.

Two games is ridiculous. Should be more.

I think 16 is ridiculous for Gordon. 8-10 is enough. Roger is a joke and is ruining football in every way he can.

y'all need to realize Gordon NEEDS a year away from football to fix his life. he's got A LOT of work to do on himself. 8 games doesn't give him the time. especially since he'll be spending most of that time training to be ready to go in 8 weeks. he needs time AWAY from football.

Josh Gordon and Justin Blackmon should link up w/ Tanard Jackson and ask how his life is going....

They should just execute him then.

You changed man :smh:

No one thinks Ray Rice's punishment was close to enough. That's without debate.

Comparing it to Josh Gordon makes no sense. Let browns fans tell it though :smh:

How does it not make sense?

No bias here bro, I actually don't even like Josh Gordon as a person because I've heard so many things about him that makes him seem weak-minded...

..but how many people do you know smoke trees?

Now, how many people do you know beat their wife?

Should those who smoke trees be punished in your opinion? What about those who beat their wives like rag-dolls? Who deserves a harsher penalty?

You have to compare the two because the bottom line is their being punished for detrimental behavior, nonetheless.

I think a year away from football only increases his chances of getting in trouble a few more times. 8-10 games, scares him and makes decreases his chances of throwing it all away
