Speaking of the RG3 trade, so how big of a bust is Tavon Austin?

Hype was extreme.  So far dude has a total of 186 yards on the season.

yeah starting to think the argument "it's the Rams" is some BS, great players make plays no matter what

that being said I will still take him with Chip for a year

Austin may be a bust in StL, but he is far from a bust.

Put him in GB/NE/Den/Indy and he becomes unstoppable. The Rams are just ******* stupid and have zero QB.

Unstoppable?  C'mon now.

Sure the Rams suck but good players do make plays and at least show flashes.  Shoutout to Josh Gordon.

It is hilarious that they line him up as a halfback and run him power though

I'm not being condescending or thinking I'm saying anything profound.

I don't know how anyone can say there's no way he's a backup. He's gone 4-14 and been benched for Colt McCoy and Kirk Cousins in his last two seasons. How is he an automatic starter? Everyone has killed his throwing mechanics, footwork and now people are saying he's lazy in the film room and can't read defenses. That doesn't sound like an automatic starter. I'm curious to see who goes after him. I think TB will draft a QB. STL makes sense but that division is the toughest. Best defenses in that division. Jets make sense but the media will crucify him. Houston makes a lot of sense. I even heard on TV that Jerry Jones said he would bring him in but I never saw anything online about it.

Guys, I watched Wes Welker struggle in Miami with Joey Harrington.

I said, day #1, recorded here on NT, that he would be a pro bowler with Tom Brady.

He FAR surpassed what I said. FAR.

Give Tavon a real QB, and he would do even better than Wes Welker did.

The man shined in college, with Geno Smith. The same Geno Smith you watched last night.

Give him Andrew Luck and the turf, and watch the numbers pile up.

i see no mention of the eagles/chip in your post

That is VERY bold.  I appreciate the boldness, but don't agree with you at all.  Sooner or later we'll find out anyway, he's not going to be on the Rams forever the way he's playing.

Also Welker was pretty good his last year in Miami.

Keep in mind the Browns do their best to get Josh the ball, damn near 10-15 targets per game. Tavon is barely seeing half of that in STL.

Nah that's probably not a great comparison because they're completely different players, but it doesn't change the fact that Tavon has had two awful seasons and looks like a full-on bust.

The Rams aren't a good offensive team and are bad at developing and using talent, but they need a receiver BADLY and Tavon has still not shown anything.  Maybe he's useful somewhere else but at this point I'm doubtful.  He and Dion Jordan both, you could say.

Agreed. Hopefully a change of scenery helps.

Do you guys feel the same way about Patterson from Minny or is it too early to really tell? :nerd:

I think the hype on Patterson going into this season was way overblown, but he is still a 20-something pick and not a #8 pick so he gets more leeway.  Besides, he has already accomplished much more than a guy like Tavon.

Overall I'm feeling doubtful he progresses as a receiver, though.
Whoa whoa whoa, Dion has been a damn good ball player since his return. Covering Megatron.

Blocking punts + FGs

So there is hope!  Dion also was more misused with the whole DE thing...

Not was... Still is...

Dion is doing a whole lot of nothing for the most part.

Nfl is such a competitive sport a young player isnt gonna look good without the right qb/system

Thats why no name players ball out under elite qb's, calling tavon a bust when hes on a mediocre team isnt fair
