I see some Big Ben in Jameis.

Both on and off the field obviously.  But I don't see him getting away with it like Ben did if he continues that stuff in the NFL.

You were impressed by that performance?

He looks like a more explosive version of your quarterback. You don't like him?

I like Jameis but after this game it would be pretty hard to sell fans and management on him over Mariota considering the outcome and his off the field background.

I guess I just didn't see any special throws this game.  And he threw that one bad pick and a couple other balls that should easily have been picked off.

Did not see him as more explosive than Wilson certainly or with the same downfield accuracy.  He is very fast though.
Further explanation requested
Ben sexually assaulted multiple people and was able to avoid charges.  The media agreed to stop speaking about it a couple of years afterwards.  Winston, with his past history and being black would likely not experience that same forgiveness (though neither really would deserve to).

Ah, well only one was a criminal situation and escaped sounds like the police help you get off which was not the case with Ben (Winston a diff story?)

And if you don't think he is still thought of in that light and punished by sponsors, etc. you are out of your mind

Mariota is nowhere near as accurate as Wilson was at NC State or Wisky.

The explosiveness part is up for debate as well.

Mariota is 6'4". That's about all he has on him coming in as a pro prospect.

ehh but there is zero actual evidence on winston, (becasue FSU/Tallahassee pd didn't look for any).

I thought in Big Ben's case, there was evidence, but the prosecutor didn't bring the case so the victim wouldn't have to testify.

Jameis is still the better QB. Only lost 1 game in college when his squad couldn't hold on to the ball. We've seen Jameis last year and this year bail his team out in the clutch. I like MM8 but he has a great supporting cast and that system backing him.

I think we can all agree that both of them got some issues. The fact that it happened twice with Ben still stands out to me though.

I'm not disputing the dude is a creepster at best, I just thought it was an odd comment with different circumstances for both and makes some assumptions that I may not agree with

My point wasn't to rehash the case from nearly 5 years ago, my bad if it did that

I just brought it up because the two cases are similar.  Whether Ben suffered any real consequences for his actions is debatable. I simply don't think Winston would be able to stay in the league if something like this happened again for him in the NFL.  In large part because of the microscope that is coming with him.

Fwiw I have family in Pittsburgh who own a restaurant big Ben frequents and they speak very highly of him. Who knows though.

They speak highly of Tomlin as well. Said he's a very nice and respectable guy.

He seems to finally get how to be a normal human and has taken positive steps. At least that's good

Tomlin seems like an awesome dude

Big Ben seems like he matured once he married and had a kid

Not really feeling the narrative where dude goes around sexually assaulting people as a youth, faces no consequences and then matures and becomes a happy family man and now that's all cool.

I know this is a tired discussion though so I apologize for bringing it up.

My mom worked with a woman who met Ben in a bar, he asked her for the cootie right there and she said something like "we can't have sex in the bar."

He said "I'm Ben Roethlisberger, I can do what I want"

This was a few years ago tho. It's always been 50/50 when I've talked to people who have interacted with him. I'm sure he's matured a lot since then.

I am not excusing his past but sometimes people grow up and do things to make up for the bad things in life they have done

Vick is a prime example, I think he is the most overrated QB of all time but I love his story and think he is a very good person now

Well Vick paid serious consequences for his crimes which I think makes him easier to forgive.

How should he have paid the consequences? They tried to charge him, couldn't for a variety of reasons, he was suspended from the league for 6 games, a first if I remember correctly for being suspended based off allegations only, and has no major sponsorships. What else should have happened?

I should've just let you make your comparison and be done with it

nice respectable guys out here raping women everyday b.

"nice and respectable" means nothing

I remember a "nice respectable" guy from my high school went to jail for selling child porn on the internet.

Nice got nothing to do with it.
