NFL Discussion Thread: Pats win SB XLIX. Offseason begins

4th and 1 at the goal line and they didn't stop us.(D Murray first touchdown was called back)
4th and 6 and they gave up 21 yards.
4th and 1 they take a delay of game.
4th and 6 they punt the ball 10 yards.

Fourth down decided the outcome of the game, not a third down penalty that left a very attainable 4th and 1.

Victory formation!

That 10 yard punt though.

Couldn't see clearly and I couldn't rewind the TV i was watching on but it looked like the punter tried to flop like he was hit by some guy 5 yards away from him or something.  Or maybe he just fell down like a tool.

Yall trolls can talk about me being heated all you want, yes I was yelling at my TV yesterday ready to wreck ****.
If you are a Lions "fan" out there and weren't I don't want you associating yourself with the team I root for.

But you cannot say that I am wrong, unless you are a clown *** delusional cowgirl fan.

feel bad for the Lions but even though ive complained about refs and there ****** calls on all three major sports, I believe calls tend to balance out.

So whatever may happen at the end is what we should live with. Now of course they are exceptions and certain instance where the call clearly cost the team the W but the human element of the sport is why we watch on both ends.

This. On top of it, there were 8 minutes left in the game. Detroit fans are acting like this was the Calvin Johnson, process of completing the catch game.

The refs didn't make Stafford get sacked and fumble twice on their final drive. Defense isn't even Dallas's strength.

Son is so mad he's throwing friendly fire

OK... to try and change the subject a little (yeesh). They brought it up on the radio this morning and I have to agree with Tiki for once -- do y'all think the RB position is really under appreciated in today's NFL?

I mean, look no further than the Steelers. Their stud team MVP RB goes down and they were done. Teams are no longer drafting RBs in the first round because "value" in later rounds.

Seems like almost every team that has made it to, or won a Super Bowl over the last 10 years, have one guy who 'does it all' and contributes to 1000+ all-purpose yards and double digit touchdowns. Marshawn, Knowshon, Rice, Gore, etc. Last ten teams that made the Super Bowl had rushing totals of: 2188, 1873, 1901, 2491, 1427, 1764, 1606, 1924, 2106, 1294.

Five teams in the playoffs this year are outside the top 15 in rushing (had less than 1781 on the ground): New England, Pittsburgh (barely), Indianapolis, Detroit, and Arizona. Three of them are already sitting at home after this last weekend.

While it's def. a QB driven league, I think that RBs as a whole continue to be undervalued.

All BS aside, Detroits defense is serious!
They're fast and play sound technique.
Glad we played them first, so our offense and defense can get tested in the heat of battle before we play Green Bay

Ches, I agree with you 100%.

I definitely scanned those names quickly and thought you said Keyshawn instead of Knowshon

I hadn't gone around to it, but I was gonna make a similar post about offensive lines. To me, they're definitely the most undervalued and under appreciated position(s) on the field.

You might remember that excerpt from the Bedard article I posted a few months back in the QB thread about how the elite fare with their o-line under duress. The data was sort of revealing.

For example, people are quick to point and look at what Brady, Belichick, Gronk, Moss, Welker, etc. are doing, but every New England playoff defeat since '07 was first lost in the trenches.

It sounds very simple and cliché-ish yet it damn near always holds true. If you can't keep your QB upright OR get to the opposing one in a reasonable amount of time...the game is basically over. Especially in the playoffs when the best teams/talent are matched up.

I don’t, in any way, think the NFL rigged the game or anything like that.

I agree. I am a Lions fans and yes I was heated last night but for the most part today I just feel as thought it's a slap in the face that I spent all this time, energy, effort, and money watching the NFL only to be cheated by incompetent refs.

I will admit the Lions have only themselves to blame for losing yesterday however after 17 weeks of countless hours spent on Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays watching this NFL product... this is how the NFL treat us fans for our investment by putting this type of officiating crew in a playoff game? I am laughing yet :smh:

I wonder if NFL refs are fined, suspended, or fired when blowing calls? Maybe the NFL should drug test these guys too?

Well at least we have a definite list of the worst officials in Sports...

For the most part, it's not like Detroit lost to the better team, they simply lost to a team that benefited from ref's incompetence.

Da flag feels in here

If the lions wanted to win they could of not choked. The refs didn't make them suck the second half. The end

Funny you say that, the refs did make us suck. The Cowboys were clearly holding on just about every damn play on their game winning drive. I am talking Detroit players running solo behind the line of scrimmage in a headlock being held back by Dallas o-linemen.

Everyone wants to talk about the one play, but nobody wants to look at the no calls that went in Dallas' favor after that.

Even if the DPI was picked up, there was still illegal contact/holding. Sure Pettigrew should have got penalized for hands to the face, and they would have offset. But Dez being on the field is an automatic 15 yards, that is a first down no matter what since it was after the play was ruled dead.

The Lions had chances, but the refs swung the momentum back to the Cowboys and gave them every chance to come back to take the lead on that final drive.

All of you Cowboy fans are clowns, even your nobody safety Barry Church said it was PI.

The world would be a better place if you all went and jumped off a damn bridge, that is a FACT.

It is pretty much common knowledge to anyone that watches professional sports.

that Dez running on the field causing a scene because he didn't like a penalty is the same as Lebron traveling?

stop replying to the troll

people are talking about the blatant cheating on social media, news, and sports world more than the cowboys win, WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT TELL YOU?

theres no point in talking about sports on NT

Once again, your coach said "I'm not going to sit up here and act like that was the play that made a difference in the game. We still had our chances." ... why the hell do you keep bringing up what BARRY CHURCH has to say?

Agreed.

I don't even care about the Interference call anymore. Dez running on the field shoulda been a penalty.

Sidenote Hasheem Tabeet just came into my store and bought a gopro, and told me I was tall (im 6'5") Homie, you're almost a foot taller than me! A former second over all pick called me tall.... Too bad he's a bum now lol

Have to wonder if it's a combination of the two. Once again, it's cliche, but without a balanced attack it's really hard to win against the best-of-the-best. Let a top 10 coach gameplan against a team that can't run and watch what happens.

I blame Trent Richardson for the "do not draft RBs in the first round" stigma. Even Chris Johnson had 2k yards with Kerry ******* Collins at QB. :smh:

Bruh, you know damb well Jim Caldwell isn't going to go off about that call in front of the media, he ain't that type of dude from what I've seen. But you know damb well he's cursing them out in his head.

Plus I think Barry Church scraight trollin'

Dallas is the better team and they'll prove it again when they beat Green Bay, a team that the Lions just lost to. Then Lions fans can finally stop whining.

Only thing more ridiculous than Trent going in the first is someone trading a 1st for him after the fact.

And you know damb well that wasn't the point I was making  .. SneakerPro out here acting like Barry Church word is the end all be all.
