NFL Discussion Thread: Pats win SB XLIX. Offseason begins

How do you not care about the QB when it comes to a WR's 'production'?

Is AJ supposed to flea flicker the ball up in the air and go catch it too?

Okay then I guess Fitzgerald has been over rated ever since Kurt retired. No excuses. Even though he had Jon Skeleton and Ryan 'arena league back-up' Lindley, he should of still been putting up 1500 yards and 18 tds a year.

We don't care about QB's here. Top 5 WR's must produce top-5 stats even if Jared Lorenzen is throwing them the ball, or else those wide-receivers are overrated and overhyped.

A.J. Green is averaging 1,218 receiving yards and damn near 9 TDs a season since he came into the NFL.

With an average-at-best QB.

been saying aj green is not top 5
Lots of people get into a tizzy too. Makes no sense. No one thinks he's a bum or isn't talented. I'm not putting a guy in the top 5 who can't stay healthy and doesn't have production to match the top tier. Bad quarterback or not.

Percy is a top 5 football player. What does that matter if he can't stay on the field, teams don't use him right and he's a locker room cancer?

There's something Bengal-ish about AJ where he just doesn't seem to have that extra gear or step up when it really, really matters.

But they're all like that.  You gotta blame Marvin for that.

Percy is not a top 5 player. what the hell are you talking about fam?

I think when he was put as the second best WR behind Calvin that may have been a little high but dude is a great WR. Does have a few INTs every year that are his fault with either off his hands or alligator arms. But maybe due to seeing more Cincy games I just notice him doing that when all WRs do it

Do you realize that 9 times out of 10 if the Red Rifle doesn't over or under throw him and actually puts the ball within his vicinity he goes up and comes down with the ball?

I sincerely hope you're being sarcastic.

Don't be a prisoner of the moment, he had a bad year health wise and we all saw the kind of throws Dalton made in prime time games not giving anyone a chance.

No. A.J. Green is constantly put in top 5 discussions. I don't think he deserves that yet. Talent, yes. Production, no. Don't care about the quarterback. Top 5 is top 5.

There is no definitive top 5 though. I think most people would say Megatron and Dez are 1 and 2 after that it's pretty much about who you would prefer. Before AJ had the injuries this year his production was 90+ Rec, 1300+ yrds and 11 td's for 2 years with Andy f'n Dalton. How can that be overrated? Dude can easily go in the top 5.

That's the thing though.
Percy is not a top-5 football player.

You THINK he's a top 5 football player because he takes a few screen plays to the house with his fast speed and acceleration.
You get fooled by those sports center highlights but fail to see the lack of overall positive impact he has for his team for an entire game. If a team shuts down the screen plays and wild-cat runs HE CANNOT DO ANYTHING on offense.

He has no route running abilities past 10 yards, and cannot win jump ball throws.

So how can he be a "top 5 football player" when he doesn't even have top-5 wide receiver attributes?

AJ actually has those attributes. Jumping, catching, route running, speed, strength, etc.

Percy is a top 5 screen catcher, and top 5 special teams returner. He has top5 speed. He doesn't have elite wide receiver skills.

He's not anything close to a top-5 football player, healthy or not. He's boom or bust, no versatility for an offense besides the short passes and prayer he turns it into a 80 yard run.

Forget it.  You're focusing on Percy the WR. He is not a WR. He's the most versatile player in the NFL. His route running is overblown. His problem is not being able to say on the field and having run ins with his coaches.

I'm sorry, but Percy was an MVP a few years ago before getting hurt and did virtually everything. It's why Seattle jumped at the chance despite attitude concerns and the same with the Jets. He's special.

my top 5

megatron
antonio brown

julio
odell beckham

demaryius thomas has fallen from grace after that stinker divisional round

He's So special that after Seattle got rid of him for nothing they instantly began to look like the elite Seahawks we saw them be last year, Huh?

So special that they haven't missed a beat offensively or defensively.

So special that they went on to get the #1 seed in the NFC and are favored to win the super bowl?

Cmon bro. They're winning games with Doug Baldwin and Luke Wilson as receivers, obviously Percy didn't mean SQUAT
To them. They look happier he's gone

I see a lot of young Fitz in A.J. Green. He's a great receiver and even with his 'injury woes'... a 1200+/9 TD average is nothing to scoff at.

Calvin, AB, Dez, Jordy, Julio, A.J., Jeffrey. Can't go wrong with anyone in that group.

OBJ looking in like *soon*

Then you just started watching. Favre and Ponder had no problems throwing to him deep. He would be all over the field. Ran the ball with extreme effectiveness, could take any kick to the house...Tougher than nails on the field, faster than most guys on the field...Football player. No other way around it.

Not a top WR. Not a top RB. But a great football player. The kind of guy that you create on Madden as a kid. Coaches dream. Percy the player, not the personality.

fixed..

percy is a tremendous offensive weapon, but he is not a top 5 player in the league.. firstly, he misses way too many games.. secondly, he adds a nice dimension to a team but he is far from in the top 5 football players in the league

Percy his last year in Minny before the injury was just :x . He was finally putting it together and was affecting games every which way and was one of the best players in the league.

Then the inevitable injury happened. Then he gets traded to the Seahawks and they start throwing only screens and jet sweeps to dude, and this perception that he only catches screens comes up. So I feel u 651 on the Percy thing.

Neither here nor there tho, cause aj green is not overrated. Lol. No way no how.

Overrated was harsh. Looking at my posts, I can tell my bone to pick his him being overhyped in the sense that he's automatically in everyones top 3, even though certain factors beg to differ.
