Okay, so for the fans in here who "know" more than me on this topic. Is it for sure Kiko Alonso will be healthy enough to be a factor on this team?

We aren't the team doctors.. But luckily for the Eagles he got hurt early, like maclin the year before last

Again, I understand it. Their defense needs help and they can draft a RB and have a formidable run game still at a cheaper cost.

Business wise, get it.
But let's not just act like he's washed. A few red zone/goal line carries handed to him last year instead of Sproles or Polk and his whole stat line for the season looks entirely different.

It's just funny that graphs and charts and all kinds of "science" and stats come out the wood works the minute he's traded to try and discount his skill.

When your starting QB starts the season going on an interception spree, then goes down early in the season, your secondary gets embarrassed and beat down by players like Dez on a weekly basis, you find yourself playing catch up in games which means more passing and more Sproles, AND Mark Sanchez finishes the season as your QB... You're not going to have the same "production" as you did with your playoff team the year before.

The circumstances are being swept under the rug just to help your arguments of him not being as good anymore.

All the details matter when it comes to "production" in the NFL.

but who is discounting his skill, you keep trying to paint this picture of what people are saying instead of looking at the big picture

go look in the Eagles thread, I have been fine with not bringing him back if he didn't want to re-do his deal. I see no reason to pay a running back $12 million in the current NFL if this was 1995 it would be a different story, you keep saying I am discounting his skills but was his season last year less impressive then 2013? yes it was

With how much cap space the Eagles have bringing up Shady's cap number is pointless because anyone you bring in to replace him is going to be overpaid as well.

Its not like the Eagles have all this talent that needs to be resigned and if you have to hit FA to replace him you already losing.

If Shady wanted out that's one thing but just trading him because his cap number is high is stupid.

Schefter already said he wanted a new deal and the Bills are bracing for a hold out threat and plan to give him a new contract

.

Polk was out the first couple of games.. The biggest thing to hurt shady's season was our oline injuries..

But he still wasn't as productive as sproles for way too much of the season.. And then there was the 49ers game and chip just trusted the other guys more around the goalline

just better hope he plays as well as he did with the Bills then..

If that's true then I have no problems with the trade whatsoever.

We already have sproles and polk.. Then I assume we go after spiller if we can get him cheap.. Or we get someone in the draft

Not sure how you jump to the conclusion we're going to over pay someone

If you are depending Darren Sproles at this point in his career that's just nuts.

Spiller is fragile as hell.

I'd draft a guy.

I do hope that..

Then just need to hope smith II develops at the other outside spot.. Or we get someone in free agency (probably worilds)

But we got 6 of out front 7 locked in up front

I did say: "sproles and Polk"

Benefit of spiller being fragile, cheap

And if we do draft a guy, he will be cheap

Cox and Kendricks will both be extended this year, you want to sign 2-3 free agents and fill the rest in the draft

this move sets up to fix the D and still get production from a combo of running backs

Shady is a great back but $12 million is too much for a RB especially when you look at someone like Jamaal Charles making $7 million

Pretty pissed about this honestly. I mean...I get it and it'll help Philly make some moves but man..I didn't want to see Shady go :smh:

This better work out

If the Eagles start the season with more than 12 million in cap space it doesn't matter how much it is.

Its all play money unless you use it.

Now I see why chip got that one dude fired mid season so he could get more personnel decisions...

It all makes sense now.

Actually you can structure deals to create more cap space as the Eagles have been doing for years.. Also we always leave room just in case

But we'll resign young guys who are now eligible for extensions.. And we've addressed a position of need with a young player who can be a core player for us for years

In the 3-4 you have to have good lb play.. We had an old and slow demeco, who got injured and was replaced by casey mathews and Emmanuel acho.. Needless to say the bar is low for kiko
