Clearly no one is touching the Niners, but the Patriots have lowkey had an abysmal offseason thus far. Like, MUCH worse than what you usually expect out of them.

Belichick (and Kraft) completely misread the market this time. Point blank.

Sometimes I wish BB the GM was an entirely different person so it would be easier for people to **** on.

DB class is average in the draft this year, too. If they're looking for starter-level replacements outside the first round... good luck w/ that.

Pats are interesting. Their defense has taken a huge dive. Meanwhile, Bills are good, Miami made some good moves and the Jets did a 180. It's hard to doubt NE because they win every year but damn, thats the best division in football. You can make a case for NFCW but SF just fell hard as hell. NE still has the best QB and HC in that division.

Trent, Trent, Trent. Free is too much for him. Guy is awful, can't believe they signed him.

Stevie Johnson is a good WR. Good pickup for SD.

Naw, Pats will gear up the pass rush and use adequate corners to compensate. Bill knows you can't replace Revis, but he can change/hide/mask his weaknesses by using his strengths.

Used to be run heavy, then QB heavy, then WR heavy, then TE heavy. He adjusts as needed.

Same here. Average corners, but elite front 7/pressure and he can mask his secondary. Cover for 3 seconds, instead of 5, etc.

You can't seriously compare the fall of boxing to the NFL.

Let's just completely ignore all the other factors that have led to boxing's downfall.

Aren't you are ignoring all of the factors which have made the NFL a worse product in recent years? Or do you think the game is as good as it has ever been?

Whether the NFL is better or worse in recent years is subjective... Depends on how one views it. But if we're talking about dollars and revenue, it has never been better. End of the day, that's what matters for the league.

Of course it is subjective but the revenue stream always tails behind. When a company offers an inferior product line, it usually isn't an instantaneous decline in interest and cash. It's the beginning of a long term trend. If you don't think that a talent pool with diminished skills and rule changes which most subjectively agree has made the game less enjoyable will have a long term negative effect then I guess we will never agree on the subject

What other sports are out there for entertainment for the masses besides the NFL?

The NBA?

Major League Baseball?

MLS?

Those sports have major drawbacks to the masses

Pats are just cheap , always have and always will be :/ honestly , go all in since Tom has 3 years max left
:smh:

its going to be a "lets out gun and out score , forget defense" next season

But he just lost the best CB in the game and another top 10 CB. What he has on his side is not a team in his division has a good QB. So that'll help out more than any FA signing.

Give me McFadden over Trent any day.

No. Personally I don't think the NFL has put out a worse product in recent years. Despite the rule changes I get as much enjoyment out of each passing NFL season as I ever had before. All while my team has been garbage.

But I don't really see your point. Boxing and the NFL is a TERRIBLE comparison.

If you're predicting a downwards trend in NFL revenues over the course of the next ten years, you need to be cut from Team Economics.

This dude Hardy is really starting to piss me off. Bandwagon BAN.
Why, Jerry Richardson treated him like yesterday's trash he wanted to come back but jerry wasn't having that **** even with defensive players giving their approval of wanting him back. Wouldn't you join the best defensive team if you could and flourish. Hardy on the Hawks is downright unfair but I hope he eats in seattle.

I wasn't comparing them, I was just pointing out you potentially ignoring factors for the NFL besides players retiring early that could make them less popular in the future. I'll ignore that little shot at the end, smiling face and all

It wasn't a shot it just a joke but is that what you're predicting? Your post before seemed like it and you're pointing to an inferior on the field product as the cause.

Problem is there's not a single data point out there that comes close to suggesting that the NFL's current product is in fact inferior compared to 5,10,15 years ago.

In regard to Chris Borland. They should do a study on his upbringing and education. See how he defines success. He probably has a backup plan

Lots of guys don't have a backup plan. They get shuffled thru the college ranks and only see football as an option to succeed.

They often tolerate the trauma for the paycheck.... No one is right or wrong. It all comes down to quality of life for each individual.

For college players having a "degree" is not enough. It's VERY easy for a school to graduate players with "nonsense" degrees.
— Maurice Clarett (@ReeseClarett13) March 17, 2015
Lots of these universities push classes on players that they would never allow their own children to take.

Kids earn schools millions. Let's forget about paying to play... Conversation should be actually educating them so they can be of some value

Kid misses practice and he's Criticized and punished to no end.... Kid signs up for "nonsense" classes and no one says a word.

Practice, Weightlifting and sprints are valid until about 30 if you're lucky. Education helps to assist family, community, friends etc etc

Only real problem I have with the NFL is the Thursday night games

Miss me with that inferior product bs
yup.. they would be better off doing a Saturday night game the last couple weeks of the season

and doing two Monday night games a couple weekends out of the year

Exactly,a lot of you are either forgetting or choosing to ignore some of the solid young talent on defense in each area besides the secondary. They were the youngest SB Champs ever and most of that youth is on defense.

They're most likely gonna put a lot of emphasis on shoring up the front 7 to have a good pass rush and run D to counteract the exodus of talent in the secondary.
