Poe + Hali > anyone on Houston's defense not named JJ Watt.

Justin Houston is a ******* animal tho. Dude is filthy.

Whitney Mercilus isn't a slouch, Jonathan Joseph still plays at a pro bowl level, and Cushing is decent too, although coming off ACL injuries. Justin Houston is good versus the run and pass, also forces fumbles and has defensive TDs as well. When the Texans get Clowney at full strength next year, I guess we'll say "Well, Clowney is there too", as you said with Houston having Hali x Poe

You clearly haven't seen a Texans game in years. J Joe hasn't played at a pro bowl level since 2011. He's not even tr best corner in the team

Whitney mercilus is a slouch, and Brian Cushing hasn't been the same. That's what a couple ACL tears will do to you.

Someone answer me though. The Texans missed the playoffs on a tiebreaker type scenario. The biggest knock on watt is that we didn't make the playoffs. If the Browns had beat the Ravens and we made it in, do yall change your stance on it or are you still giving t to Rodgers?

Right.

Coming back from injury to score 14 unanswered against one of the best defenses in the league, to clinch the division title and a playoff bye is definitely not as big of a deal as sacking and "disrupting" Blake Bortles and the Jaguars offense, which everyone else disrupted all year long for a league high in sacks received by a QB.

Definitely not as big of a deal yesterday.

Good job Texans and Watt for doing the unthinkable yesterday :smokin

On a serious note, Chargers had no business even sniffing playoffs this year.

Been saying it all year long with Nelson.

0 running game.
5th string Center (no exaggeration).
Depleted line.
Horrendous secondary. Absolutely pitiful.
Inconsistent and injury riddled line backing core.
Did I mention 0 running game? Donald Brown :x
Losing Woodhead :smh:
Up and down play from Rivers.

I think the fact that we were even that close to clinching a spot is a true testament of Mike McCoy's coaching.

We've grown accustomed to underachieving a lot, but this year I think we actually over-achieved.

It was a good effort but we didn't belong in the playoffs this year. Too much to overcome.

**** Norv Turner for wasting 5 years of Rivers prime and **** AJ smith for firing Marty.

Oh and **** that little ***** boy Nate Kaeding

So, Kareem Jackson and AJ Bouye are better than JJ? Mercilus had 7 sacks though, and he's still early into his career. People can't blame a team for "hitting" on it's draft picks. The Chiefs have drafted good on defense, and so have the Texans. So, why are we making excuses for players who produce? As they were drafted to do? Going into that draft, draftniks laughed at KS for drafting Poe. But, now that he's playing well...

Random Stat:

27 Super Bowl's have had top 5 defenses vs. top 5 offenses, 13 wins for the offense vs. 14 wins for the defense

thought that was interesting

I have no idea what this is in reference to, but this in no way answers what I asked. Your biggest knock on watt is that he didn't make the playoffs. If the Browns beat the Ravens, we're in the playoffs and today you're arguing what exactly? My point is to show how exactly does that change what he did on the field? The way you make the award sound, we should give the award to the best QB on a playoff team, but only if he doesn't have a good offensive line and running game. Hell, by the criteria yall are arguing I could make a case for Andrew luck. How bad would the colts be without him? 5-7 win team?

Without Tom Brady the Patriots might be drafting top 5.
Without Ben Roethlisberger the Steelers might be drafting top 5.

etc etc etc

So tired of that narrative.

problem is without Rodgers the Packers might be drafting top 5
Without Tom Brady the Patriots might be drafting top 5.

LOL.  The ESPN twitter hopefuls.  Them ADRIAN WORJANOWSKI fans.

Come on now.  If anyone watches football, they know that's not the case.

the case was against his argument for JJ Watt to show the QB is most important so I agree with what you saying

ain't that what makes them "most valuable" though?

Exactly

Just because he's "tired" of the narrative personally doesn't mean it's just time to change the criteria of MVP overnight just to give it to someone we all respect and like.

That is part of the criteria like it or not.
And I would fully understand Brady being MVP because of it as well. He's definitely just as deserving.

And DWS, that wasn't in reference to anything you said.

of course the QB is the most important position in the NFL. it's pretty obvious.  who cares about JJ WATT already. he can have 40 sacks and you can make a case about how the offense sucks and the defense has to be out there more than the offense.

of course the QB is the most important position in the NFL. it's pretty obvious.

The Super Bowl winning QB didn't need to throw a touchdown until his team was up by 29 points.
He also didn't account for a single touchdown in a playoff game.

Football is a team sport.
