it's times like this where individuals completely disregard critical/rational thinking. i guess we can also blame the refs for allowing the lions to blow the 14 point lead

Can anyone answer why Dez Bryant didn't get flagged for being on the field without his helmet and arguing with an official? There's no way around that not being a penalty, unless I'm missing something.

Stuart Scott remained on this Earth until the last ESPN game was played. Almost as if he was still working if you will and wanted to make sure everything went off without a mistake. Truly amazing if you think about it. Just thought about that.

Or, he remained on this Earth until ESPN finally got an NFL playoff game. Mission accomplished.

The ref that threw the flag was calling face guarding on Hitchens.
The head ref said the flag was picked up because face guarding isn't a penalty in the NFL.

Well that is not what happened. AT. ALL. LOL.

The original call was pass interference, called by the back judge. After the call was announced, the head linesman countered that it was face guarding and not a penalty. I have never, in my entire life, seen a pass interference overturned for face guarding. It's one thing if a ref determines during the play that it was face guarding and not pass interference. To overturn it, especially after it was announced to the crowd, is unbelievable.

Good for Romo and the Cowboys to get a playoff win.

If they win the Super Bowl though God help us all having to hear about it from every Cowboy fan everywhere we go.

He would always give his love to the crew that worked with Susie Kolber because he was supposed to there and she always acknowledge that. What I'm saying is that even though he wasn't physical there because he was fighting cancer, but he was there in spirit throughout the season.

It was a bad call and it got corrected.
Good job by the refs as far as I'm concerned :smokin

I only see you show up every time the playoffs are on.

You ain't really 'bout that life.
i'm a fan of the sport before the team. some individuals are the opposite. but hey, if you feel that by your team losing is going to dictate significant future plans then so be it.
Didn't you make a bet for one of the recent Pats SB losses that if they'd lose, you'd never watch football again? AND shouldn't your bias as a 'Boys fan be acknowledged in this?

That sort of contradicts your "sport above the team" schtick and ragging on dudes for how they take L's.

that was the first pats loss. i was young. took things to serious, had they won i would have just taken the L and moved on. you guys are much older now whining like kids. also, im not a current boys fan. i liked them as a kid not so anymore. just glad to see romo win a playoff game again.

Eh, you have a point.

But you do realize that the Lions were moving down the field pretty well when the ridiculous DPI/Dez all on the field incident happened, right?  You can't see how that situation impacted the final score?  The call stands like it should have and Detroit potentially scores a TD and the PAT.  Lions win and blowing a 14-0 lead wouldn't even be in the realm of discussion right now.

That call reversal didn't singlehandedly lose the game for them.  But it was a HUGE factor, given the time left in the game and field position that Detroit had at the time of the picked up flag.  Not all penalties (or reversals) are created equal in terms of impact, but I thought that was just common sense.

you're right it had a significant impact, however lions still had a chance to win the game. the game should have been over when #90 scooped up the ball but then fumbled giving the lions another shot.

This.

What's also interesting are the calls in the first half that were extremely suspect on the Cowboys. The reason we aren't speaking about it is because the Cowboys handled their business by responding and scoring afterwards.

Demarco Murray scores a TD and it gets brought back on a phantom holding call by Witten. They also threw a flag for "illegal shift" despite the fact that no one was in motion

Also, Williams gets BLATANTLY pushed into a DB and gets called for "offensive PI" (what's even more interesting is Denver runs these 'pick plays' quite often but again, Williams gets pushed).

There was also a call in the second half where they had ruled GOlden Tate I believe short of the first down. A ref ends up running over to Caldwell and they are speaking of the play, which is unchallengeable under 2 minutes. After the discussion they announce to have it reviewed despite the fact it should have came from the booth.

The Cowboys ended up scoring after the phantom Witten call, Williams responded with a 76 yard TD, and the defense held the Lions to a FG anyway. None of this will be brought up because it resulted in the Cowboys doing what they were supposed to do.

And that's the point.  The call stands, they score and they may not even HAVE to come back from behind, right?  This isn't that hard to follow.

Yeah, they had one last shot.  From behind.  On the road.  I'm sorry, but I'm taking being up 23-17 or 27-17 with a few minutes left in the 4th.  And who knows how much time they could've milked off the clock before scoring a FG or TD, leaving Dallas little time to score again.

It is what it is and like I said, that picked up flag thing didn't singlehandedly cost DET the game.  But it sure as hell helped put their backs up against the wall when it really should've helped them secure an even bigger lead.  That really was blatant DPI.  And we won't even get into Dez out on the field with his helmet off, yelling at the refs.

Its funny to me,

Cowboys fans that were actually in the building watching the game can admit that was some ********. The former head of officiating said it was some ********, hell even league suckup Peter King says it was some ******** but dudes just stay in denial.

Real talk we beat the Saints and Falcons on some bs calls this year.

There is no crime in admitting you won on shaky officiating.

Refs sucked in the Lions game. Smh but why didn't we run the ball on 3 and 1 with Bell? Then go for it on 4th if we didn't get the 1st down. I'm still pissed I feel like my squad got screwed.
