NFL Discussion Thread: Pats win SB XLIX. Offseason begins

For me, it's pretty simple:

Jimmy Graham is one of the best receiving TEs I've ever watched.

Rob Gronkowski is the best tight end I've ever watched.

Yes, I like him more than Gates. Sue me.

At running back and TE I would say so, but I think they gave a tremendous effort at WR. T.Y. was a steal and Moncrief can turn into something pretty good. I loved Lavon Brazill when he was drafted with T.Y., but he just never got it going and then got suspended. I also thought Da'Rick Rogers could've been a huge steal too. He had one huge game against Cincinnati that showed his potential, but the cut him after a DUI. Hard to blame them given Rogers' track record.

wait how did they fail miserably at TE? they have one of the best TE duos in the NFL, Fleener has been coming on real strong lately

OK so maybe 17 degrees (the game kicks off at 4:35 p.m. ET) isn't warm anywhere, any time. But if you think the chill of a New England winter has Tom Brady worried, you're wrong. So very wrong. Asked by Tom Curran of CSN New England how he prepares for the cold, Brady said he has things down to a science and is a "[bleep]ing machine."

"I know exactly what to wear. I know how many layers to wear every degree," Brady said. "I'm a [bleeping] machine, man, I'm a [bleeping] machine! C'mon baby!"

that's my ******* QB :pimp:

Moncrief is more of a threat than Wayne these days. Dude doesn't have much at all left in the tank. He's been struggling bad this year.
they need to upgrade the skill positions around luck.

Gurley and Philip Dorsett would help.

Or Duke and a couple pieces along the Oline. Maybe swing a deal for Mike Wallace as he may be available. (and would flourish with Luck)

Just no more TE's please. They have enough.

****......
OL round 1
Duke round 2
and Rashad Greene in round 3 works nicely for them. :x :pimp:

Great so what about the defense?

Free Agents?

And what about it, really? They win 11 games on Luck's back as it is, finish out the offense the right way, protect him, give him extra weapons to work with, and start getting 1 and 2 seeds instead of 4 seeds.

Can spend in the draft on defense the year after.

So stockpile the offense? How did all those 1 seeds work out for Peyton?

And?

So Andrew Luck plays better than Peyton, and they have something don't they?

Luck is their franchise player. Build the roster around him, and let him do what he does. I'm not saying never help the defense, I'm saying get him guys that he can play with for the next decade and then use the remaining resources you have on defense til the end of time.

It's all love, CP.

I respect that he's probably the best bad weather QB ever, but Flacco and Suggs could say the same thing leading up to the game. Especially since they did it under the same conditions in HIS building.

Always liked that he's a dude from Cali who loves playing in real football weather, but I'll chill on the props until after Saturday.

You guys are simple or something.

"Defense wins chips"

And who said for the Colts to never do something with their defense? Who said that in here? When was that said, and who by?

Nobody. So move the hell on already.

Offense wins chips too.

And Special Teams.

And Coaches.

GM's

I don't really care if Jimmy went to the U.

Do you see many pounding the desk for Andre Johnson, or Reggie Wayne, or Portis, or Calais Campbell or any of the other Pro Canes?

Nope.

Just Jimmy. Because he actually belongs in those type of discussions, the other ones don't. Pretty basic stuff here folks.

Hey, I didn't say he wasn't good, I'm just saying I wasn't pounding the table for his respect or anything. Everyone knew he was good, but that was it. He wasn't scaring the whole league or anything like that. Same with Wayne. Solid 11-12 year careers, but never the #1 guy in the league or anything of that nature.

Not going to quote that wall of text (on mobile) but there was a **** load of good points In CPs Jimmy vs Gronk post up there. Repped

Still taking Gronk, of course. Never seen anyone son all-world athletes the way Gronk does. Other than maybe Lebron. But both Jimmy and Gronk are exceptional players and athletes

hope the refs let em play this weekend
It's legit part of their game plan, drives me nuts

I didn't realize how much until I heard about it this week. I gave up on looking for the exact numbers, but I heard something about Flacco/Ravens ranking no lower than #3 in drawn PI and yardage. For the past FIVE seasons.

They have a bunch of #1 rankings as a team in there.

Maybe I thought otherwise since a lot of Ravens players (and fans) cry foul and ***** over being screwed during damn near every game.

When you have a QB who's strength is the deep ball your team should be near the top on drawn DPI.

It's why taking 5-10 deep shots per game is so crucial. It's maddening to see these OCs hand cuff their own offenses

I don't know why I can't find this **** right now, but I also heard like 90% of those drawn PI's were from underthrown passes that the defenders had to adjust and come back on for the receiver. That tells me it's probably not on reputation when they're getting those year after year.

I just hate the sound of it because it reminds me of James Harden's "skill" for playing the whistle and drawing free throws.

They asked Brandon Browner about it this week and he didn't want to give Joe Flacco credit for it. Said it was all on the receiver after Joe throws the ball.

Yeah bro, what gets me with Bert Jones is the what could have been if he didnt get hurt. Hearing all these stories about him from pops, I favorite him a little much. But we all know Luck is ahead now. I just said we need to see a year more. lol
