Teams who choked the most in Sports thread

I agree with this. But I believe that was game 6, no?
It was but I think for the most part everyone knew that with carpenter on the mound game 7 and with what a painful loss that was that they weren't recoverig in game 7. I believe they had one of their worse pitchers starting game 7.

I couldn't imagine how id feel if I was a rangers fan watching game 6 live as it unfolded. When the spurs goofed last year, they got recent titles to fall back on. That rangers organization never won nothing so that has to hurt.
Yeah, but game 6 was even more simple. My main recollection is watching Nelson Cruz miss that ball in his glove and it rolls behind him. Changed the game and the series. That would have been the third out and likely the game

.

That would've been the game. It was 2 outs, 2 strikes, bottom of the 9th, rangers still up 2 when Cruz messed that catch up.

It changed the momentum in the sense that his drop allowed the game to be tied, but the rangers got the last out with the winning runner on 3rd after that.

The very next inning in the 10th Hamilton hits a home run to put them right back up 2 again and they proceed to choke it away once again.

That's right. They did go back up in extra innings, and choked again. I still blame Cruz, it's his fault

Darius. Washington.
Milk.....carton....

Yall just killing my bills in here lol. Imagine being a fan going thru that talking all that ish then going back to school looking crazy lol

How you have this list and don't mention the GOAT choke team? '90, '91, '92, and '93. 4 Straight SB Losses

Didn't see it because I was looking for Bills, and looking at the beginning of sentences, like...

03 Cubs

07 Pats

*shrugs*

But yeah, 4 straight, and you get no Lombardi recognition.

My only reason I didn't put the bills on that list is because to me their a slightly better version of the 02 and 03 nets in the sense that yeah they made the finals but no one expected them to beat the lakers or spurs.

The 91 ******** are considered one of the greatest teams ever, and the jimmy Johnson coached 90's cowboys were a dynasty. People considered 49ers cowboys the real Super Bowl in 92 and 93.

Still though, going 0 for 4 in the big game has to hurt but they only had a legit chance in 1 of those games. Who knows if Scott Norwood hits that kick, maybe they mess around and win anther though

1995 Ewing bricked a layup off the back of the rim vs Indy. That was a game 7 I think. One of the funniest plays ever.

Not a "team," but what about Phil Mickelson in the 2006 US Open?  He only needed a bogey on the 18th to win the tourney IIRC, and he teed off into a tent, hit a bunker, hit a tree, and finished in 2nd place.

In retrospect, I respect those Bills teams a lot. We'll never see that type of run again in the NFL.

I argue that all the time. I argue that that's till one of the GOAT teams, and just like GOAT athlete discussion, championships come up.

So like an isolated SB win by say the Bucs, that's supposed to trump 4 straight SB appearances? I can't see that.

off the top of my head...

2004 NY Yankees
2009-10 Boston Bruins
2007 NE Patriots...it hurts but I have to agree. total choke job despite being essentially beat by a miracle conversion on that Tyree catch.
2013-14 San Jose Sharks

Do the Braves count since they won the WS?

1996 - win 96 games lose the WS
1997 - win 102 games lose the NLCS
1998 - win 106 games lose the NLCS
1999 - win 103 games get swept in the WS
2000 - win 95 games get swept in the NLDS
2001 - win 88 games lose in the NLCS
2002 - win 101 games lose in the NLDS
2003 - win 101 games lose in the NLDS
2004 - win 96 games lose in the NLDS
2005 - win 90 games lose in the NLDS

That's an average of 97.8 wins, 2 WS losses, 3 NLCS losses and 5 first round losses.

Or how about the infamous Greg Norman '96 Masters? :x

Norman entered the final day of the 1996 Masters with a six-stroke lead over Nick Faldo. He lost to Faldo by five strokes.

You mean you would take four straight Super Bowl losses over winning one Super Bowl and not getting close again?

Crazy. I would never give up a chance to win a title.
