Man Faces Possible Life Sentence for Pot Brownies
By Zeninjor Enwemeka
Texas teenager may face life in prison for allegedly making and selling hash brownies, The Huffington Post reports.

Officials in Round Rock, Texas, have charged Jacob Lavoro, 19, with a first degree felony because he chose to use hash oil rather than marijuana.

Lavoro’s use of hash oil allows the state to use the other ingredients in the brownies to determine the weight of the drugs, KHON-TV in Texas reports.

[Lavoro's] father says he just wants what's right. "If he did something wrong he should be punished but to the extent that makes sense. This is illogical. I'm really upset, and I'm frightened, I'm frightened for my son."

According to The Huffington Post, the brownies weighed in at 1.5 pounds, and Lavoro could be sentenced to between 5 years and life in prison.
But they'll let a drunk driver that killed 4 people free

They're just some brownies. Whoever is prosecuting should use some common sense. Give him some community service or something.

saw yeaterday & posted in TAN...dudes are trippin

because he used oil we can weigh the whole brownie fohwtbs

pretty silly of him to be charged so heavily. i'm sure it'll be reduced.

wouldn't be in this situation if he didn't break the law, though.

Potheads gettin treated like color folk. One law for this form another for that. Smh

The whole world is upside down. Humans need a do over

Crime clearly doesn't fit the punishment.

Dumb decision on his part but the fact their even considering giving him life is rediculous.

Texas is a state which breeds backwardsness and ignorance though so I can't really be surprised.

If he was black they probably would try and find a way to give him the death penalty.

'Murica.

Steadily saw child rapists with 5 year split sentences at my old job. Meanwhile, dudes caught with a pound of weed or one "shake-n-bake" style 2-liter meth "lab" get 20 years.

I'm all for NOT committing crimes in the first place. But to just brush off obvious backwards laws like this is doing the country as a whole no favors. But that prison industrial complex keeps growing, so I guess it's all good.

I'm amazed how people don't get this.

No one feels you should commit crimes...

But when they're tilted towards a certain crime that doesn't fit the punishment... that's when people get upset...

Bankers and politicians hurting way more than these brownies.

If you don't wanna go to jail, don't commit crimes
It's really simple...
Regardless whether the law is right or wrong, it's still the law. And if you know the law, and still break it, you know you may run intro legal troubles. ****** need to stop playing dumb.

When weed becomes legal then you in the clear. Til then, if you do something, you know that there's a chance you can go to jail
