Than This happened:

This definitely caught me by surprise because xvi's are not known for crumbling. Figured i'de post it on niketalk just to warn you guys that jordans from the 2000's are definitely prone to crumbling. Wear them with caution:

Thank god i have another DS pair to fall back on. The one to the left is the now crumbled pair.

Mine haven't fallen apart, but they are super fragile at this point.

Shroud magnets did crumble off though, but they were easy enough to glue back on. My cherrywoods are deadstock, I should wear them just to see what's up. Low reds and navy's are fine for now, had to reglue a bit of the sole on my lows.

I love the xvi, hope they retro in 2015.

That's not crumbling tho. It's just sole separation like the XI's. That could be fixed. Same thing happens to the thought to be indestructible OG XII's and I had mines fixed when the same thing happened.

Prime example why you wear your shoes. Maybe not the day after purchase but at least in the same decade. Rock em and enjoy em people

That's to bad to see a nice pair of J's like that fall apart. I thought i was the only one that this happened to. I had the blue color of these J's on when all of a sudden I felt my left shoe flapping. I got home and the whole sole came apart. I was heart broken when I tossed them, i should have had them repaired. Luckily you have a second pair.

wouldnt your back pair crumble too

The idea was to have one to rock and have another on ice. Looks like i won't be wearing either. :smh:

How did you store your shoes??

Well I've been collecting vintage shoes for a very long time, so i'm well experienced in storing them correctly (cool area, in box, no daylight, and no zip lock bag. However, i think the previous owner may have not stored them correctly because they came in a zip lock bag.

Nah, the whole midsole is like crumbled. This will more than likely require a sole swap. Ugh, i want to cry!!! :frown:

the shroud held them together as i walked very carefully. fortunately, i reglued them, so they stayed together, albeit unwearable, and the seller was happy to take them back.

XVI's are known to crumble. First thing that happens is the little pillars crumble. Then the sole. Maybe it's not widely known. You take a risk with any DS sneaker that's a decade old.

They're 13 years old now. You can't compare them to III's or IV's, which have retroed several times.
