The Emasculation Of The Black Man vol: just a little think piece

Idk if it's been stated, but maybe it's cause black males pose the most severe threat to those who choose to believe in white superiority.

Segrahation didn't work, slavery didn't work, and this is just another failed attempt

Nobody wants to talk about role of the jail/criminal culture of hypermasculinity in emasculating Black men.

All Black dudes remember late elementary school / middle school / early high school, where you realized that the girls only like the drug dealer dudes and the tough guys and the athletes. And speaking with clear diction and grammar, and doing well in school, and generally being a kid with your mind on the right things made you a lame. If If you wanted to be accepted you HAD to get angry, to go out of your way to be violent, to do everything you could to prove yourself to, and appear more like, those older dudes in your neighborhood that you always see outside. And even those older dudes wanted you to be like them, so you could do their bidding and take any heat that you could deflect away from them. Sidenote: How many White kids are worried about going outside? How any White kids know that one day they're gonna go to jail and have to deal with the violence and chaos of being locked up? How many White kids are talking with their friends about how they're not going to survive past 21, so they might as well go all out and be the man before they go? If you've been to jail you're seen as more of a man. If you are violent, especially for no real reason other than to show that you are capable of violence, then you are considered more of a man. If you are visibly involved in illegal activities then you are seen as more of a man. If you beat chicks and prostitute them you are seen as more of a man. This environment is one based on everyone agreeing to directly and overtly emasculate any young Black boy/man who deviated from the image of that life-of-crime street dude.

No matter the why's of it, this is how it is. Alot of it comes from the lack of fathers, but the actual active emasculation itself which takes place is coming from the Black community itself.

this should be the first post.

Pal.

The homophobic, misogynistic, and patriarchal undertones found in yall's comments are alarming, unfortunately not surprising though.

I am more fearful of the toxic tendencies of hyper-masculinity found in our community than our boys and men being emasculated.

Both are often feti****ed in our media though, and rendered one-dimensional in my opinion, but that goes to show you how little we control the images that are produced of black bodies. I think we should be in a constant rebuilding process, adding and taking away our ideals of what healthy communal manhood looks and acts like, manhood in the Eisenhower era looked and acted different from manhood in the early 90s era, even more so for black communities. We have have always been in a rut defining and performing masculinity. Its an ongoing process, but I think to bash our gay brothers for their form of manhood and try to diagnosis their pathology is divisive and ultimately problematic, A lot of us, myself included perform in ways that oppress ourselves and the women we should hold in such high regard.

The gendered hate is real lol all yall screaming that the emasculation of black men can be attributed to a woman reared household, i think should reconsidered, read up, or reevaluate, but we can only speak from our experiences and if thats what yall see in yalls streets than how could i prove you wrong, what you perceive is your reality, i just think passing the brunt of this perceived problem to black women is a cop-out.
