Thats one of the main reasons why I love 80’s rated R movies, they weren’t afraid to go the extra mile. Now a days, Rated R movies aren’t as dark as it was
I may actually prefer the original to the sequel.
I think the effects still hold up well with the exception of when the terminator
looks at his face in the mirror after removing an eyeball (which never looked good imo.)
The story is straight up sci-fi and the "grittiness and darkness" or tone captivates me
more than the sequel which is just that - a sequel and derivative.
Both go hand in hand though imo...gotta see both!
