I think I remember reading that Linda Hamilton asked for the film rights with her divorce with Cameron and then she sold the rights to some company (same company that's making these films today?)
I also vaguely remember reading that even though the rights might return to him, chances are he is done with the franchise and might just sell the rights back to make money off of it. Things could change though, if his Avatar sequels fails then he might want to tackle this franchise again?

It better be rated R. I'm tired of all these action movies being PG13 when they're supposed to be violent and bloody.

Arnold has confirmed that he will be in the next installment and to be filmed next year.
The sisxth film will follow on May 19th, 2017 and the seventh installment is set to be released on June 29th, 2018.
