OFFICIAL 2014 FANTASY FOOTBALL THREAD

easy for you to say. alot of dudes are desperate. ball may miss a few games, picking up hillman is huge.

Easy for me to say? Or maybe I just know how Fantasy Football works, and desperately trying to find someone and blowing your wad on a player you may only play 1 week is foolish and short sighted.

Just look back at your league...

For example, in mine - manager with top 3 waiver priority - on Oct 1 - bid $9 on Darrin Reeves who got 5 pts this week...prob won't use him again.

Crowell, McKinnon, Royal - names that people went after hard the last few weeks and the return has been minimal. Can't be so quick to make moves without seeing big picture

I understand what you mean but if guys are in leagues where you dont have to pay for wavier wire pick ups (I think most are) then you cant blame them for trying to find a guy every week.

Hillman is garbage, wouldn't really waste my time hoping he's going to turn into what Moreno was last year. I like Oliver followed by Williams out of all the RB pick ups this week.

I gotta look at my bye week situation over the next 2-3 weeks before I put a bid in but I think it'll be Williams.

Oliver is taken already.

Peyton:

"Somebody asked me if for my first touchdown, ‘Did we wear leather helmets then?’ So, that was a nice free cheap shot there. I wouldn’t start that guy on your fantasy team next week. He’s not going to get a lot of balls next week. I’ll leave him nameless."

If it was Demaryius :smh: :frown:

???

The same Gerhart who played 10 snaps yesterday? The same Gerhart who averages less then 2.5 ypc?

OR

Justin Hunter who made his first start yesterday, who's seen his snaps increase since week 1, who put up a 3-99-1 stat line yesterday on 5 targets?

Gerhart's garbage bruh.

QFE
Gerhart is not rosterable. Period

Yea guys. I'm desperate right now. My 1st (Starscream) and 2nd (Ball) round picks are now injured. I wonder if Oliver would be this year's breakout player? Usually it would look good for him, but he has Ryan Matthews and Donald Brown ready to take his carries once they get back to 100%.

 I hate that guy....

you guys know that you DON'T HAVE TO make a pick up every week, right?

Stop reaching for these bottom of a the barrel guys like Hillman and CJ Anderson that won't offer much, forcing you to waste your waiver priority of handful of FAAB budget.

Oliver isn't a bad pick up, the comparison to Sproles is easy, but can he do it again?
I'd take my chances with Oliver against the Raiders Defense for at least one week

You may knowhow your league works but that doesnt mean everyones league is set up like that.

We dont pay for waiver pick ups and if i can add a guy of value to my team and keep him away from other teams or eventually trade him for players/picks then it makes sense

An assest is an asset, wether i play him or not is irrelevant.

exactly. each year I came up on a beast waiver pickup and dealt with ones that were irrelevant. Its how fantasy football works man.

Julius thomas/keenan allen last season are worth the other guys that you pickup that dont produce

do you guys think lacy has officially turned the corner?

im debating whether to make gio expendable to get a WR1

the nffc has an article each week written by tom kessenich which i enjoy reading every week. thought i would share it .................

Here are some random thoughts and observations as I wonder if the Lions have signed Matt Prater yet.

As a Packers fan unsure how good that team is, it's comforting to see things haven't changed all that much in Detroit and Chicago. Impressive choke jobs on Sunday fellas. Well done.

What wasn't well done was Jim Schwartz asking his players to carry him off the field after Buffalo's victory. Total d**k move. It's not like Schwartz got a raw deal from the Lions. He was given every opportunity to turn that team into a legitimate contender and failed. Man up and accept it, Schwartz. What you did made you look like a petty little p***y.

I'm always surprised at how often the most amazingly obvious things that shouldn't happen still happen in the NFL. Examples this week - Jamaal Charles getting only five second-half touches and Travis Kelce getting only three targets the entire game in a close loss to the 49ers. These are, by far, the Chiefs' biggest playmakers and they barely touched the ball even though the game was always close? How does something so clearly and obviously stupid like that happen?

And before you say, "That's Andy Reid for ya" sure it is but he's hardly the only coach who does stuff like this. I keep going back to something I learned as an NFL beat writer - I really think a lot of NFL coaches make this game more complicated than it needs to be.

I mean, think about this for a second - is there a human anywhere on the planet who would question the decision to give Jamaal Charles the ball more often? Of course not. And yet ...

Five touches in the second half of a one-score game.

Unbelievable.

When you watch Frank Gore you really have to wonder why Colin Kaepernick is throwing as much as he does. Gore is playing like a machine right now.

Tom Brady has a fantasy pulse again. That's a start.

The Bengals sure don't like big statement games, do they?

When Arian Foster is healthy, he sure is a lot of fun to watch.

There were a number of really great receptions on Sunday (a circus catch by Brandon Lloyd comes to mind) but I'm not sure you'll ever see a better catch than the one Dez Bryant made to set up Dallas' overtime win against the Texans. Good players don't make catches like that. Hall of Famers do.

I have no idea what's going on with Jordan Cameron. I just know it sucks if he's your TE1.

I still don't trust Ben Tate but that was a damn good performance on Sunday. That should put some distance between himself and Crowell and West.

Until he gets hurt again.

Which will happen.

It always does.

Hold on, Alex Henery just missed another field goal.

I love ya Matt Ryan but you need to sharpen things up in the fourth quarter of close games. I know your defense stinks but you're missing throws you normally make. That's on you.

Geno Smith or Michael Vick. Does it really matter when you're throwing to guys like Greg Salas?

That said, why not turn to Vick at this point? It's not like Geno's leading you anywhere.

I've never been a big Golden Tate fan but that was a terrific signing by the Lions. I was definitely wrong about him. It's hard to imagine the Lions having a functioning passing game without Tate given the current injuries to Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush.

I've said it before and I'll say it aqain - Pierre Thomas is the best screen runner in the NFL.

If the Saints have a bye that must mean Jimmy Graham is hurt and we'll spend the next two weeks anxiously hoping for any update on his status for the Saints' next game. Gee, that'll be fun.

I'm worried about you, Marques Colston. You're dropping a lot of passes you used to make with ease.

If Andre Ellington has a bum foot it's scary to think how fast he must be healthy. He was a blur down the sidelines on his 81-yard TD reception against Denver.

Speaking of the Broncos, congrats to Peyton Manning for joining Brett Favre in the 500-TD club. And congrats to everyone who bought low on Demaryius Thomas from owners who foolishly were panicking. It was just a matter of time before he started playing like Demaryius Thomas again.

Along those same lines, welcome back Eddie Lacy. You've been missed.

Meanwhile, I'm definitely panicking about LeSean McCoy. Nearly 30 touches and less than 90 total yards against a St. Louis defense struggling vs. the run? That's bad. That's very bad.

The Packers won in convincing fashion over Minnesota despite the fact Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb combined for only four receptions. I'm not sure we'll see that too many times should Nelson and Cobb both be contained like that again.

I'm setting the Over/Under on Kirk Cousins interceptions tonight at 23.

Cousins just saw my prediction and laughed.

Then he threw another interception.

Mike Glennon sure loves him some Vincent Jackson.

With a hot quarterback and a stud running back and stud wide receiver shouldn't the Steelers have won more easily against the Jaguars and not have to sweat out the win like they did?

Kyle Orton is a professional quarterback and that by definition makes him an upgrade over E.J. Manuel. We saw that on Sunday as he rallied Buffalo to a win at Detroit. He also will make some really bad decisions. The Pick 6 he threw was gift wrapped to the Lions. So get used to that Bills fans.

On the bright side, Orton is morphing into Uncle Rico right in front of our very eyes. How cool is that?

This the second "Napoleon Dynamite" reference I've made in the last two weeks. I was deeply wounded no one got the first one last week.

I'm not going to stop the Branden Oliver = Darren Sproles thing because 1) It's fun and 2) He looks just like him on the field. I mean JUST LIKE HIM. You know it's true.

So have the Lions signed Matt Prater yet?

And finally, if you started Austin Davis, Branden Oliver, Andre Williams, Justin Hunter, Tyler Gabriel, Mohamed Sanu and Tim Wright this week just go away and never come back here again.
