OFFICIAL 2014 FANTASY FOOTBALL THREAD

Guys I need some quick advice. I'm in a super deep 16-team league which will explain the position I'm in. I have Brandon Marshall and Calvin Johnson but I drafted Justin Hunter late thinking he would be a good sleeper pick/WR3. BUT the draft is over and Kelvin Benjamin is just sitting there in FA and I can't pick him up because I can only have 4 WR on my team (I also have Decker).

Should I drop Justin Hunter for Kelvin Benjamin?
Only a 4 WR roster limit? Wth?

This dude in my league took Kelvin Benjamin with his second pick (4th round) in my keeper league
I've seen this in another keeper league that I used to be in and didn't understand it at all . I look for value in my keepers so I don't see the reason to reach for a guy that I might keep next season. Even if he put up Megatron numbers this year, Benjamin will only be a round 2 pick at best next season anyway so he could've just redrafted him .

Dude by far drop Hunter for Benjamin. I don't trust Locker getting the ball to Hunter, Wright, Walker, Sankey and McCluster effectively.

Hunter is TD dependent. 2-3 years away from being a viable WR1-WR2 tho. too talented..

Highly doubt he's ever going to be a WR1...that's going a too far. Right now he's a bye week fill-in flex at best. Your draft went pretty terrible if you're starting him most the time.

I like Locker's upside, slightly less than Tanny but I think both will produce effectively in '14.

Crazy. Before his acl injury hunter was going to be a top 20 pick in the draft. He has all the tools. Won't be suprised if he ends up the team top wideout by next season.

He's my expert version of CP, except at a far lower ADP.

Read this a while back, which made me hesitant on Kendall Wright, even though obviously not a huge sample size. Champ, curious as to how you view Locker as a passer and his upside in that sense.

Jake Locker is just 4-of-23 (17.4 percent) in his career targeting Kendall Wright on passes of ten or more yards downfield.

Much of Wright's to-date success has come with short-ball throwers Ryan Fitzpatrick and Matt Hasselbeck, while the Titans allowed Wright to freelance often in his routes last season. The 2014 Titans staff hopes to make Wright a more "disciplined" and "structured" wideout, as noted below by Football Outsiders' Thomas Gower. Down to 184 pounds -- his 2012 Combine weigh-in was 5'10/196 -- Wright should remain a solid standard WR3 with WR2 potential in PPR. His catches do seem likely to dip a bit with popgun-gunslinger Fitzpatrick gone, and Ken Whisenhunt installing a more vertical-oriented attack. Jul 31 - 1:10 PM

Big money on Whis. He just revamped Rivers' entire career in SD. Locker is erratic and needs to play smarter. Big, live arm but inconsistent and inaccurate. Also, sidebar, he needs to run smarter. Often overly physical and unwise. Protect and conserve your body for a season's length.

Bottom line, this is year 4. Make-or-break essentially for me with Whis at the helm. I have more faith in Tanny, but I'm not counting out Locker either with weapons like Wright, Hunter, Sankey.

hunter will flourish in ken offense for that exact reason. he'll thrive in that verticle offense. already people in the camp saying he'll have a keenan allen type impact/role this season. his only competition is a old nate washington and kendall wright.

8 of hunter 30 catches so far in the nfl have gone for TD's. That's absurb numbers. Def with him basically being a WR3/WR4

Thoughts on this team? Standard ESPN. Has 7th pick 1st RD (Auto picked last two rds. Listed as per RD):

Matt Forte RB
Brandon Marshall WR
Andre Johnson WR
Victor Cruz WR
Stevan Ridley RB
Pierre Thomas RB
Tom Brady QB
Knowshon Moreno RB
Martellus Bennett TE
Justin Hunter WR
Mike Evans WR
Jordan Todman RB
Ahmad Bradshaw RB
James Jones WR
Nick Folk K
Texans D/ST D/ST

Pretty solid squad...not that much of fan of Bennett being your starting TE though.

What do you guys think of Reggie Wayne? I think he's got some nice value at his ADP in PPR leagues. Great Flex/borderline WR2. Luck loved him 2 years ago and last year he was averaging over 5 catches/71 yards per game before injury. Sure he's old and coming off of an ACL tear, but I'd take him in a PPR after round 6.

Id grab Wayne for depth more so than need if that makes sense. If I have two solid WRs I'd have no qualms with grabbing Wayne for the flex or bench.

^ Yeah same here. Draft him as a flex but more often than not he'd probably be good in the 2 spot as well.

Shady in the Locker room getting his X-Rays on his thumb, Maclin with a non-contact knee injury. Was able to walk off the field under his own power though.

EDIT: Maclin back out there already. Caught a pass on his first play.

EDIT 2: Shady X-Rays negative.

You really playing with fire if you're taking Maclin early. Injured in that scrimmage, tweaked something tonight...

Yeah I agree with this. Tough envisioning him making it a full 16 games. However, if he does I think he can put up some big numbers.

exactly. hes a guy that can win you a league tho. take him in the 6th-7th round but it he performs anything like desean did in that same position, thats huge.

if you wanna win the league, you gotta take those risks imo

I like dri archer this year..

I don't think it's a risk to take him in the 6th or 7th round though (which he won't be available most likely depending on how many teams are in the league). In a 12 team league for me it's a risk taking him in the first 4 rounds.
