OFFICIAL 2014 FANTASY FOOTBALL THREAD

Marshawn Lynch and Ray Rice? Avoid first round? what yall think?

 Rice is going nowhere near the first as it is.

He's a mid-rounder....

As far as Lynch goes he's still a legit 1st rounder. Just because Bevell says he's installing C-Mike into the backfield and going with a RBBC approach doesn't mean they're not going to run Lynch into the ground. It's his contract year, they have zero incentive to preserve Lynch going forward.

Simple solution if worried about Lynch's workload, draft Lynch and cuff him with Christine Michael. There, problem solved.

I feel like this is the year Brandon Marshall takes a step back....at least relative to his position as a top 5 fantasy WR. I dont have a real reason for it but it was just a random strong feeling that I had. Its getting late

Got you, man. Will be posting my top-20 positional rankings this coming week.

Here's my top 20.

QB:

1. Peyton.

2. Rodgers: (With the Saints going with a more balanced attack this year, I think Rodgers leapfrogs Brees to take the 2 spot).

3. Brees.

4. Stafford: (With Golden Tate in the fold as well as a new safety valve in Ebron I expect Stafford to have his finest year to date).

5. Cam: (A ton of folks are saying he regresses without Steve Smith and without very many aerial weapons. Thing is how is that different from years past? Smith regressed badly last year and Cam was still a top 3-5 QB depending on your scoring settings).

6. Romo: (The Cowboys defense is just absolutely putrid. That means their offense is going to see the field a ton. Linehan as his OC means big things for this aerial attack).

7. RGIII: (Jay Gruden is going to have this team airing it out a ton. I expect big things with DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon on the field together. If Reed can stay concussion free it'll provide RG3 with a fantastic check-down option. Should be a career year for RG3).

8. Luck.

9. Brady: (I expect a bounce-back year for Brady. If Gronk can stay healthy and Aaron Dobson can make strides as the starting X receiver I expect Brady to be an excellent value pick with tremendous upside).

10. Cutler: (Trestman is a fantastic coach and with Jeffrey and Marshall, I expect Cutler to have a fantastic year. Tremendous upside, this guy right here is a VALUE pick. Career year incoming).

11. Ryan.
12. Foles.
13. Kaepernick.

14. Rivers: (Bounced back last year and I expect strong play to continue as Keenan Allen and Ladarius Green develop).

15. Russell Wilson: (Has all the ability in the world, simply lacks the weapons to live up to his full potential).

16. Big Ben.

17. Maybach Manziel: (Yep, this is fantasy football. This is where guys with Manziel's skill-set excel. If he is allowed to scramble, he'll be a QB2 this year with upside).

18. Alex Smith: (Efficiency and the ability to scramble make him a solid bye week play, ideal QB2. 2013 he set career highs in rushing with 431 yards, could do it again).

19. Josh McCown: (Played very well in Cutler's absence last season. Has Mike Evans, Vincent Jackson and Jenkins to throw to, sleeper pick.)

20. Dalton.

Didn't make the top-20 but still notable: Michael Vick, Tannehill, Carson Palmer.

RB:

1. Jamaal Charles: (As Charles goes, so does the Chiefs. The offense is ran almost exclusively through Charles. I expect Charles to continue to be fantasy's #1 RB this season.

2. McCoy: (Could very well be a 1A-1B situation with Charles and McCoy. No more DeSean Jackson however means defenses may be willing to play the run more aggressively. Maclin and Cooper are not going to keep defenses nearly as honest as Jackson was able to.)

3. Peterson.
4. Forte.
5. Lacy.

6. Murray: (With Linehan as the OC, expect Murray's usage in the aerial attack to increase. Combined, Bell and Bush caught the rock over 100 times out of the Lions backfield with Linehan as their OC. Expect Murray to catch 60+ balls out of the backfield this season with Linehan as the Cowboys OC now. Career year.)

7. Lynch: (Might be somewhat phased out just a little as the season dwindles in order to give 2nd year RB Christine Michael more carries. I don't expect much of a regression however, the Seahawks are going to run the rock, and run it a lot. Contract year, no incentive to really dial back his carries. This train keeps on chugging.

8. Foster: (A lot of folks are afraid about his durability, and rightfully so. However with Bill O'Brien stating that Foster will be utilized how Woodhead and Faulk were utilized in New England, it's hard to shy away from a guy with this type of versatility out of the backfield. If he does see his workload increase out of the backfield Foster becomes a value RB1 that is attainable in the 2nd round of 2014 mock fantasy drafts. ADP may drastically go up as season approaches. Andre Brown is a must draft handcuff).

9. Montee Ball: (HUGE upside as Peyton's primary RB. Displayed his ability to catch the rock out of the backfield in the final 6 games of the 2013 regular season. Just needs to learn Peyton's audibles or else CJ Anderson threatens job-security.)

10. Le'Veon Bell.

11. Zac Stacy: (There's enough work to go around for this backfield. Tre Mason will cut into Stacy's carries but not enough to really hurt owners. This Rams team is going to run the rock a ton, and Stacy is going to be the main beneficiary here).

12. Gio Bernard: (Jeremy Hill will inherit the BJGE role in this offense and Bernard will unfortunately get vultured at the goal-line. However the upside is monstrous with Gio Bernard).

13. Doug Martin.
14. Alfred Morris.

15. Andre Ellington: (Arians promising a monster workload. Concern here is will Ellington be able to handle 350+ touches. In any case, if Arians is serious it's hard to ignore Ellington's upside).

16. Spiller: (Scary pick, but if utilized correctly by Marrone & Co he has RB1 potential. Backfield gets even more crowded with the arrival of Bryce Brown).

17. Bush.
18. Mathews.
19. Gore.

20 Gerhart: (Is going to get a ton of usage, can catch the rock as well. Could easily be ranked ahead of the likes of Bush, Mathews and Gore based on opportunity alone, massive value pick here with high upside RB2 written all over it.)

Other notables: Bishop Sankey, Chris Johnson/Chris Ivory, Shane Vereen/Stevan Ridley, Ben Tate/Terrance West, Rashad Jennings/Andre Williams, Joique Bell, Steven Jackson/Devonta Freeman.

Forget about it/HEADACHE INDUCERS: MJD/DMC, Lamar Miller/Knowshon Moreno, Ray Rice/Bernard Pierce, Trent Richardson, DeAngelo Williams/J-Stew/Tolbert, Robinson/Thomas/Ingram.

Valuable handcuffs not listed thus far: Andre Brown, L-Blount, Fred Jackson, Christine Michael, Danny Woodhead, Roy Helu, Shonn Greene, CJ Anderson.

WR:

1. Megatron.

2. Demaryius Thomas: (I expect him to challenge Megatron for top fantasy wideout with Decker out of the fold).

3. Dez Bryant.
4. A.J. Green.

5. Julio Jones: (Could very well end up as a top-3 fantasy wideout, was on a torrid pace before going down last season).

6. Brandon Marshall.
7. Jordy Nelson.
8. Randall Cobb.
9. Alshon Jeffrey.

10. Keenan Allen: (2013 was only the beginning, I expect Keenan to continue to grow and will be a fantasy WR1 this season. Could very well have 90+ receptions).

11. Antonio Brown.

12. Pierre Garcon: (Career year incoming. Jay Gruden is going to air it out and often, and Garcon, not D-Jax will be the main beneficiary here).

13. Vincent Jackson: (McCown excelled with rangy receivers last season, the thinking here is that'll continue with V-Jax).

14. Wes Welker.

15. Victor Cruz: (Ben McAdoo is going to have Cruz playing the Cobb role out of the slot this year for Big Blue).

16. Andre Johnson:

17. Larry Fitzgerald: (With Floyd continuing to make strides as the Cards' second option, Fitzgerald might finally have some breathing room to operate. Still however not a value pick as he's still being drafted as high as the 3rd in some mocks).

18. Percival Harvin: (Finally healthy, and will be the primary receiver in the Seahawks passing attack. Wilson is a capable passer, Harvin could explode this season).

19. Torrey Smith: (With a healthy Pitta and now Steve Smith in the fold, Torrey finally gets some breathing room to operate. Monster upside here).

20. Marques Colston: (If he can stay healthy he's still the 2nd option in this Saints aerial attack. Brandin Cooks and Kenny Stills are both factors here with upside but Colston was on a torrid pace in the latter half of 2013.)

WR3s: Michael "Sorry Receiver" Crabtree, DeSean Jackson, Roddy White, Julian Edelman, Mike "60 Minutes" Wallace, Michael Floyd, T.Y. Hilton, Jeremy Maclin, Eric Decker, Reggie Wayne.

Notable: Golden Tate, Terrance Williams, Emmanuel Sanders, Kelvin Benjamin, Dwayne Bowe, Anquan Boldin, Aaron Dobson, Brandin Cooks, Mike Evans, Sammy Watkins, Riley Cooper, Reuben Randle, Steve Smith Sr, Cecil Shorts III, Jarrett Boykin, Odell Beckham Jr.

Not sold on: Cordarelle Patterson/Greg Jennings, DeAndre Hopkins, Danny Amendola, Hakeem Nicks, Tavon Austin, James Jones, Marvin Jones, Stevie Johnson, Brian Hartline, Kenny Stills, Markus Wheaton, Mike Williams, Kenny Britt.

TE:
1. Jimmy Graham

2. Julius Thomas: (I expect him to build on his tremendous 2013 season, will easily surpass 1000 yards on the season).

3. Gronkowski: (Concern here is his health. If he can stay on the field can very well be value pick of the season with regards to where he's currently being taken in June mocks. May end the season as fantasy's top-scoring tight-end.)

4. Vernon Davis.

5. Jordan Cameron: (Flashed his ability last season. With Josh Gordon facing a possible year-long suspension Cameron looks to be a the Browns' primary passing threat. Showed excellent rapport with Brian Hoyer who may very well be the Browns starting QB. Should be fine with Manziel as well as he'll serve as the rookie's safety valve).

6. Jason Witten.

7. Greg Olsen: (Becomes Cam's #1 target ahead of rookie wideout Kelvin Benjamin, should have solid year).

8. Dennis Pitta.

9. Jordan Reed: (Upside to become a top-5 TE in the league. Lengthy concussion history is the concern
here. If drafted, every owner should have a backup TE ready).

10. Zach Ertz: (Could make some big strides in his sophomore season).

Notable: Kyle Rudolph, Ladarius Green/Antonio Gates, Heath Miller.

Not quite ready yet: Eric Ebron, Austin-Sefarian Jenkins.

Lol no: Martellus Bennett, Charles Clay, Tyler Eifert, Coby Fleener/Dwayne Allen.

D/ST:

1. The Legion of Boom.
2. 49ers.
3. Panthers.
4. Bengals.
5. Patriots.
6. Chiefs.
7. Rams.
8. Cardinals.
9. Broncos.
10. Texans.

Notable: Bears (nice matchup week 1 against Bills), Ravens.

Kickers:

1. Prater.
2. "Ghost" Gostkowski.
3. Hauschka.
4. Dawson.
5. Tucker.
6. Crosby.
7. Bailey.
8. Bryant.
9. Walsh.
10. "Novocaine" Novak.

Hell ******* no: Greg "Sewer Line" Zuerlein.

Any explanations not provided, just ask. These are general "top 20" rankings and are not intended to be exhaustive. The deeper the league is the deeper you're going to have to look to find value. There's a ton of sleepers not listed that'll be spoken about as this thread evolves.

This list is also not final. As the regular season approaches, there will be depth chart changes, role changes, injuries, and even a signing or two (Jermichael Finley anyone?). Therefore, rankings are subject to change.

Debating on whether I should keep Demaryius/B-Marsh over Brady. McCoy is definitely one of my keepers, just not sure on the second one. Only reason I'm bullish on it is because it could be slim pickings when it comes time for me to draft a quarterback.

Marshawn Lynch and Ray Rice? Avoid first round? what yall think?

Definitely. I think it's debatable as to even taking an RB in the first round. It's almost too risky these days and just the way the NFL landscape is, QB's and WR's dominate the game. The only guys I'd consider are Peterson, Charles and McCoy.

I love Marshall, but I'd say Demaryius. Decker was a guy for the Broncos thatdid a little bit of underneath stuff and a good deal of medium-range to working deep. He was very undervalued in that sense (real football) and I think with the addition of Sanders, it leaves Demaryius as the easy only real deep threat on the Broncos and the #2 redzone option behind J. Thomas. I'd roll with D.T.

Can't wait for this season :pimp: x 1000.

Fantasy football (as well as the NFL season in general) is the thing I look forward to the most each year.

I'm in sort of a dilemma this offseason though.

In a keeper league that I commish, I've narrowed it down to 3 guys that I'm gonna keep. I can only keep 2 though. 2QB, PPR, 6pt pass TDs. I have the 9th overall pick.

Alshon Jeffery - lose my 10th round pick - He's locked in. I'm keeping him. Insane value right there.

Jamaal Charles - lose my 2nd round pick - Even in a 2QB league (where a majority of QBs go in the first 2 rounds), he's not really a "value" keeper, which is what I try to get out of my keepers. Still, it's really tough not to keep him.

Matt Stafford - lose my 5th round pick - In a 2QB league, I expect him to be gone within the first 2 rounds, so this is pretty good value here. And with me picking 9th overall, my chances of grabbing a stud QB (which I consider Stafford to be) are very slim.

Anyone have any opinions to help me make my choice? At this point I'm leaning towards keeping Charles over Stafford, with plans on trading up to the 5th or 6th pick (draft picks are trade able) to grab a stud QB.

Also, draft Jordan Reed this year. Barring another concussion, he's a top 5 TE. Especially in PPR leagues.

The Broncos killed it last year, do their players hold their value this season? Even Moreno made a killing as their change up. Welker should have a better year  if he can stay on the field with Decker gone. For some reason I'm weary on trusting them though with the first picks (I guess I wonder about Peyton and his age). Should I be?

I expect the Broncos to come out with a vengeance this year after getting their *** handed to them in the Super Bowl. I honestly think Emmanuel Sanders could be an upgrade to Decker too. Wouldn't worry about Peyton's age one bit.

Curious to see what people think on how Knowshon Moreno will do next year

nothing, not a damned thing.

the ****boy showed up fat and out of shape to OTAs and let Lamar Miller takeover the first team reps.

That backfield has headache spelled all over it. Lamar isn't good enough to grab hold and keep the starting spot and Knowshown isn't going to put up the production he was spoonfed by Peyton in Denver.

There isn't going to be a guy here, it'll be a RBBC all season and an inept one.

IDK about Manny Sanders being an upgrade over Decker .

He was given every opportunity to succeed in Pittsburgh and really didn't wow anyone.

Cody Latimer could very well take the Z spot from Sanders at some point in the season.

I'll like Manny when he takes over at the slot when Welker enters free-agency next season, until then I'm not buying in.

Speaking of Latimer, he's one of the sleepers I was referring to not mentioned on my "top 20" rankings list. Drafted 56th overall he's more of a prototypical Z receiver than Sanders is. Has very good hands, and he ran a 4.39 40 with a broken foot. Dude is one to keep an eye on for sure.

Im still hurting from last year... I had Matt Stafford and Calvin Johnson vs. Reggie Bush in the semi finals of my league. I was up by 1 point and figured I had the game sealed. Justin Tucker hits that long field goal on MNF and Matt stafford throws the game sealing INT! Went from up 1 to down 1... game over.. Im still steaming! LOL

Had Stafford, Megatron and Josh Gordon. Dudes were tanking trying to avoid me in the first round.

Them 3 put up and absolute dud and I'm a Lions fan so the fantasy L hurt and the Lions losing just compounded it.

I picked up Gordon from the wire too. Man I would have used my keeper spot on him.

Marshawn Lynch and Ray Rice? Avoid first round? what yall think?

Lynch is a monster. People made the mistake of avoiding Lynch 2 yrs ago thinking he was going to be suspended and looked foolish. He's as consistent as they come. Only thing is he doesn't catch passes for the PPR lgs.

Stafford in the 5th in a 2qb lg is solid value go that route

"Shady" and Thomas. Brady's going through regression.

Neither touch the first-round for me. Rice, and T-Rich are potential bounce-back candidates if you believe in RB2 value. Also depends on format. You can consider Lynch for R1 in standard but definitely not PPR.
