OFFICIAL 2014 FANTASY FOOTBALL THREAD

There's no way I'd feel comfortable drafting Ball in the first round. Too scared after what happened last year...
yea

whenever i pick a player in the first round, i want a guy that is a sure thing, a guy that i know will produce every week and i don't have to worry about.

With a 12 man league and standard positions set-up (1 QB, 2 RB, 2WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 D/ST, 1 Kicker), what do you guys think is an appropriate amount of bench spots?

Last year we had an extra RB/WR position which will be taken out this year due to the fact that there were virtually no value in terms of waiver wire pickups.

We also had 6 bench spots last year. Is it bad to cut it down to 5 this year (reasoning is to keep teams active on the waiver wire and prevent any type of hoarding)?

first of all take a def and kicker with a late bye week so you dont have to worry bout that in week 4-5-6 or 7.  back up your qb ( aka cutler...hint hint ) then i guess i would go with 4 rb's which includes a handcuff and 4 wr's and 2 te's.  i dont see the need to worry bout hoarding cause if you draft that well which allows you to hoaed then you deseve to win. in my 14 team drafts that have 19 rounds you have slim pickings but if you pick up a backup and he gets in for an injured player ( aka marcel reese ) you did well. waiver wire is not suppose to be ez

first of all, up your starting WR to 3.

that gives you 9 starters, and I'd say 5-6 bench players and you're good.

Demarco Murray worth a mid-first round pick? I've been targeting him and Foster if I were to land anywhere from picking 7th-12th in my actual draft.

what are you guys top defenses this year after the hawks/niners/panthers?

I'm loving the rams..but that secondary iffy

Graham or Demaryius @ 7? Top 5 RB'S gone along with CJ.

In my league there's no TE position, it is a FLEX.

Beginning to think Romo or Cutler will be my QB target on draft day. That way I'll be able to load up on other positions before I have to go for a QB.

Rivers will be my QB target but Cutler will be my backup (hopefully) since im targeting Keenan and BMarsh.

If anyone is holding early drafts, take Josh gordon with that last pick. hearing friday and he has a decent chance at getting his suspension taken away.

It's funny as hell that the league basically has to buy Gordon's excuse because of the inconsistent test results

Dude might end up not missing a game.

What is yall's waiver system like?

We've always had ours open and available for in-game pickups but I think we should change it this year.

Is locking it down Sunday at 1pm then reopening with a priority system on Tuesday the best way to go IYO?

^ I've always had it lock on Sunday at 1 and then everyone's claims process Tuesday night, making free pickups start on Wednesday. Alot of my boys didn't like that though because at times it's not exactly fair. We're switching it up to an auction format this year. Still trying to figure out how to set that up though. Not sure when to make the auction kick in or when to allow free pickups.

the leagues I play in you have $1000 of free agent money to spend and free agency is on Friday nights. That's it

Yea same exact problem here... I wanna do auction but the question is when do the players become true FA's again... Having a league vote on it now but its tough because its a bit complicated and if you haven't used that before its kind of weird.

If I'm in the back end of the first round in my draft, I'm going with a WR. Like everyone said, there is so much uncertainty after the first tier of RBs especially with how many were busts last year in the first round.

Does that screw up TNF having FA start after that game?
not really. every team in the nfl plays on thurs night so you have your teams that you dont really want wr3 or such anyway. free agency is suppose to be tough. if you out draft other teams why should other teams get a free pass. thats why i also like 19 round drafts. it is a test of knowhow to dig deep on sleepers.

Anybody else drafting Manziel late in the draft in case he ends up starting Week 1?
