OFFICIAL 2014 FANTASY FOOTBALL THREAD

Still have that open spot in my Yahoo league.

PPR
20 buy in
Draft is on 9/3 at 11:30pm EST (few cali folks in the league)

12 Man Mock I just did. 6th pick got:

Aaron Rodgers
Matt Forte
Doug Martin
Wes Welker
TY Hilton
Terrence Williams
Greg Olsen
KC Defense

Thoughts on Olsen? Picked him over Reed. And KC's defense?

Greg will be a very solid, if unspectacular, pick this year. He && Kelvin Benjamin will likely rank 1 && 2 in terms of targets from Cam this year, && I think Olsen will lead the Panthers in receiving yards again this year. Could be a career year for him...def. slept on.

Yep Forte first (Calvin and Lacey went 4 and 5) then AR after Green, Dez and Demariyus were already taken.

Bench wound up being Fred Jackson, Danny Woodhead, Darren McFadden and then Yahoo froze on me.

Cool had a feeling he'd still be Cam's guy, just wasn't sure since I don't follow football too much. Thanks.

blah blah blah

we hear the sammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmme rhetoric about Olsen EVERY YEAR. He is the most mediocre fantasy TE there is. Always over valued. I'd never draft him he brings nothing to the table.

way too weak at WR
If I'm in that spot again, should I take Dez over Forte? Him and Lynch were the 2 best backs on the board. Demarco went on the wrap around before he got to me.

Personally would have gone Reed over Olsen. It's a push for most, seeing as both are ranked very closely in positional rankings. KC's defense can produce top-12 quality. Houston and Hali will get sacks in bunches, Johnson is an anchor at LB. But I do worry about their secondary. With Flowers gone, Gaines is a rookie and Smith is seemingly inconsistent. Berry is a stud safety, but his partner, Kendrick Lewis, left for Houston.

Williams is a huge pick. I love his upside and truly believe he accumulates 1,000-yard season with all the attention on Dezzy and Witten. You do lack a true WR1, but it helps if your league is PPR for Welker's sake. Hilton should flourish with Wayne, Nicks, Supreme Moncrief, Rogers beside him. Numerous weapons for opponents to account for, not to mention the TE tandem of Allen and Fleener. Luck is smiling.

he's been my TE last 2 seasons and hes as consistant as they come at that position. Sure 12-13 weeks of the year he's giving you avg points but he rarely puts up duds.

Add in the fact Smith and Lafell are gone and he has to rely on a rookie WR, Cam will be targeting him more than ever this season

How would yall approach the 1st round if you were me? PPR

My keepers: Ellington, Jordy, TY Hilton

1st rounders NOT AVAILABLE:  AP, Charles, Lacy, Gio, Ball.

I have 2nd overall and 7th overall picks...

I see McCoy going 1st, which leaves me with Calvin or Forte.

I want to go with Calvin but Forte will go before the 7th pick and I wont have another pick until the 3rd, so nowhere to pick up RB between then.

I feel like I'm going to end up either going Calvin and Graham, Calvin and DT/Dez or Forte and Graham or Forte and DT/Dez.
With keepers, you're set at RB2, WR1, and WR2. Because you have one top-10 and another top-20 receiver, I'd go Forte to shore up the ever-crucial RB1. With the 7th pick, Demaryius, Jimmy, Dez in that order for me. Slide Hilton to the Flex. Although you can afford to go high on Graham at TE, just forces you to rely on Hilton as a WR2 compared to less pressure and expectation in a Flex role.

How are we feeling about deandre hopkins this year?

also feel terrence williams will be the best WR drafted late. followed by markus wheaton

I hear you.

So tempting to snag Jimmy there and have all positions except for QB filled before the 1st round is hardly half over.  How much better do you expect DT to be than Dez?

I went thru the 10 teams in my league and looked at likely/potential keepers.

Martin
Lynch
Forte
Manning
Charles
Morris/Stacy/Marshall (likely Stacy since he was a FA pickup, and thus he wouldn't lost a draft pick)
Lacy/Calvin (likely Lacy as he was draft much later in the draft)
Kaep
Peterson

I'm pretty split.... now that I'm looking at the number of top RB's likely to be kept, I'm inclined to keep McCoy....
Assuming you don't know your pick yet. If you don't keep Shady and opt for Graham, your RB1 pool in the first-round is: Shady (only if you get top selection), Morris, Ball, Bell, Foster, Gio. If you had a shot at Lacy meaning the owner keeps Megatron instead, I might consider risking a keeper on Jimmy over Shady. But you really can't when looking at the diluted RB1 pool.

Since Lynch ended his hold out would you guys draft him @ 7th overall? (I was deciding between Graham and Demaryius before this)
I have it ranked Beast Mode, DT, Jimmy. This year is filled with a lot of feast-or-famine type RB's. After Shady, Charles, AP, Forte, Lacy, Lynch...there's really no sure things. Most of us taking fliers on Spiller and Ellington without any guarantee of success.

This is how my first money league turned out. Im happy with the team.

What round did you select Matty Ice to back-up Luck?

Your receiving corps is stacked. I mean, Roddy in the slot? Come on, and to go with DT and Julio to boot. That's three top-20 receivers. However, do not like or trust Toby as a consistent RB2. West will be your RB2 six weeks into the season, IMO. Love, love, love the Boykin selection. He has 1,000-yard potential with the emphasis on Jordy and Cobb. Miller a sneaky pick. Can be a plug-and-play Flex on inopportune bye weeks.

I expect Wheaton to post similar numbers to Sanders last year in Pittsburgh.

Nuk ranked second for best hands last season according to PFF. Only dropped 1 of 53 catchable balls. Needs to up the TD output, but no reason he can't be a top-30, maybe top-25 WR.

I hear you.

DT is far-and-away my #2 WR after Megatron. Whereas Dezzy is bunched with Julio, A.J., and even Marshall (in PPR formats). Marshall has caught 218 passes the last two seasons with double-digit TD output consecutively.
