OFFICIAL 2014 FANTASY FOOTBALL THREAD

I might be having another draft on the 24th so the 28th might work better.

Oh ok, that's cool. I forgot the first NT league's draft is the 24th as well, so we'll either do the 28th or 31st. Whatever works for y'all works for me.

My $$ league draft with my friends is on the 29th, so any day besides that.

^ Bet. Will make sure it's not on the 24th or 29th.

So the field has been set, fellas...

Yahoo && standard scoring have been voted as the particulars for our league.

A FLEX option will certainly be added, && return yards on kickoffs/punts are a possibility as well.

Won't be back on the desktop until tonight (after Skins/Pats) at the earliest, at which point I will finish setting up the lineup structure && point system, followed by the league invites.

As for the draft, Thursday, August 28th at 8 pm is the date && time as of now. I'll make sure that the draft order is established && known well beforehand. Let me know if this isn't a good date/time for you, as we also have the option of having the draft on Sunday, August 31st.

Your guys' thoughts on Rashad Jennings this year? If he stays healthy, I think he will get a TON of touches...with Wilson being done and Hillis being banged up.

he's got good value at 6th round pick for a #1 RB with a rookie back up. Should have a very solid year and he can catch the ball so bonus pts in a PPR

Do you guys all have Demaryius as your #2 WR in a PPR?

I think I still like Dez and AJ more (possibly Bmarsh as well)

I like DT a little more than Dez in PPR cause of the screen passes from Peyton. Like Dez more in standard tho.

Are Roddy White, Cooper and Maclin going to be viable WR2's?

I'm really just seeing where I should go with my picks being that my keepers are McCoy and Demaryius. What I've been thinking so far is go RB in the 3rd (Bell/Murray/Gio) then possibly Gronk in the 4th then WR in the 5th then Cutler/Rivers in the 6th.

wouldn't trust any Eagles WR as a #2 because there's no clear cut #1 .... they have 3 #2's ... that's not a bad thing in real life, but it's horrible from a fantasy perspective

Roddy White would be a stud WR2 ....

I like Dez regardless of the scoring system....

Denver added E. Sanders and D. Thomas is coming back.... too many options in the passing game to trust one guy getting the bulk... in Dallas, there's Dez, Witten..... and what might as well be Jerry Jones out there catching balls... Dez gonna eat

You can draft on the yahoo fantasy app now right?

Yup. NFL.com, ESPN as well.

I think actually think BMarsh will be the #2 WR in PPR this year. Followed by Dem, Dez and AJ.

If you're drating 8-9-10 in a 10 man league..I may take WR's back to back. Could grab 2 of those 5-6 wideouts back to back.

AJ Green or Antonio Brown for PPR leader if I was a betting man....

Alshon is the truth.... he might cut into those #'s

Not entirely true. Dem Thomas put up monster #'s last season with the same amount of weapons. He's going to get his regardless. I see no drop in his production due to other weapons. His QB is still Peyton lol.

Dez def will eat but with nobody else seen as a threat he will be double teamed every play. Terrence Williams looked good as a rookie..if he makes that next step as a viable #2 then Dez only benefits.

AJ Green only drops a bit because of the change on offense. Jon Gruden pass happy offense now becomes Hue Jackson run heavy offense. AJ may benefit even more though due to having a consistant run game and forcing teams to play in the box, but I want to see how gio looks first. Less passing attempts for Dalton will see a drop in green production. But I think his receptions will increase.

I rank WR's:

Calvin
BMarsh
Dem Thomas
AJ
Dez
Antoino Brown

rest of pack

Jordy
Cobb
Jeffery
VJax
etc

CBSSports has app drafting this year as well...

our app supports football, baseball, and basketball within the same app.... don't need to download a new one for each sport

I just think E. Sanders is a better WR than Decker .... and J. Thomas will only get better with a season under his belt in that offense

but who knows, it's all predictions and personal opinions... that's what makes fantasy so fun

That sucks about Wilson, now the Bears don't really have much outside of BMarsh and Alshon again.

This and the Bennett situation make me question potentially drafting Cutler as my QB1 in a couple weeks....
If you're Trestman, you'd hope it finally clicks for Josh Morgan. Chicago did take a flier on Terrence Toliver as well. Never really fulfilled his potential at LSU.

What's a good round to draft Toby Gerhart?
I know Gerhart is being touted as a top-25 back this year, but I'm staying away. Jacksonville will likely be chasing leads in Gus Bradley's first year, thus encouraging the passing game in the second-half. Toby only has career rushing TD, and the most he's toted the rock in a season is 109 times back in '11. He has an adequate frame but you worry if he can handle a significant workload and shoulder the running burden as the primary back for Jacksonville. On the plus side, Gerhart could nab you 30+ catches in PPR formats.

few new buzzy names that are climbing draft boards

Zach Ertz, Justin Hunter, Marqise Lee, Kenny Britt, Andrew Hawkins

Keep an eye out on Jarvis Landry
With you on the first two names. Ertz is a fringe top-10 TE for me. I'm taking him over Rudolph, Bennett, and Clay.

Justin Hunter could very well be a top-30 WR by season's end. I'm thinking he may fulfill the expectations that are actually prepared for Cordarrelle Patterson. Hunter nearly went 20 YPC last season, and is capable of bringing down a moderate amount of TD.

Jarvis Landry was my guy at LSU. Makes up for mediocre speed with excellent hands. Landry might have the best set of mitts in this wideout class.

I wouldn't take Gerhart till he's best player available.

5th pick out of 12 ain't too bad. Could get Calvin, Forte, Lacey, Dez there.
I rank it Forte, Lacy, Megatron, Dezzy. Although you could convince me Lacy and Calvin Johnson are interchangeable.

Yup people telling me to take Forte. i dont trust Lacey honestly.

Thought about taking a WR but even though im a Lions fan i have a weird feeling with all these additions CJ might not be the monster has been before, im probably wrong tho
The allure with Lacy is his TD output. Only him, AP, and Beast Mode may touch double-digit rushing TD this season. Lacy runs hard, should get well over 300 carries this season if healthy. He's strong, durable, and workhorse-like. Defenses can't cheat on the run if he's ripping off 4 YPC because of respect for Aaron Rodgers. Lacy didn't take the same beating or wear-and-tear as Trent Richardson did with the Tide. Hence the next 2-3 years being Eddie's prime as an elite RB.

Any word on how Brandin Cooks has looked? Dude should honestly be the top weapon outside of Graham on the Saints.

Definitely wanna draft him, but I have no idea where he's being drafted at the moment.
he has been going all over the place. he has been drafted as early as the 6th and as late as the 9th round. if he has a good pre season the hype machine will take full effect. in the meantime kenny stills might be the value here.not saying i dont like cooks but i am noy paying a 6th round pick or earlier if the hype gets large.

I remember this time last year Kembrell Thompkins hype was through he roof. I bought into the hype after his stellar preseason games and spent a 7th round pick on him :x

never again

If I am in your situation I go...(hopefully)

3rd...Gio

4th...Gronk

5th...Luck/Cam

6th...Best WR available

This has been what I am getting in 10 team mock drafts

I am looking to join in a fantasy NT league this year if any have room ?

Will also be interested in doing a NT League for maybe bout $10 a head just for fun if anyone wants to
