The Official Mortal Kombat X Thread (KOMBAT PACK 2 AVAILABLE NOW FOR PSN & XBL)

I read that Freddy Krueger is confirmed for MK X since he was the most downloaded DLC from MK 9. Also said there's a couple of other surprise characters but no DC ones...

Dwindling, my interest is

Approaching faster than we realize is yet another game event that is being held in Germany called "GamesCom". This event is taking place August 13-17 in Cologne, Germany.

Our last character reveal was Raiden, therefore giving us the current known roster: Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Cassie Cage, Kotal Kahn, Ferra/Torr, Raiden and D'Vorah.

So, "WHO'S NEXT?" Well, according to Mr. Ed Boon, the cryptic hints point towards Germany....

It appears that Kano leaked in a recent German magazine - either that or Germany just got first dibs to the party. This is pretty unexpected considering we weren't anticipating any more characters until GamesCom. However, this does leave the question, will we get another new character at GamesCom or will be seeing Kano gameplay?

German GamePro Features Mortal Kombat X Cover Story

They took victory in the World Cup - now Germany is gearing up to play host to the global phenomenon of Mortal Kombat X in August!

The September issue of GamePro Magazine (German Edition) features Scorpion on the cover with The Last of Us Remastered and Destiny inset [pictured right].

The issue holds special significance as a precursor to August 14-17 -- when NetherRealm Studios will be in the beautiful city of Cologne for Gamescom 2014!

The annual trade fair has become a favourite destination for the NetherRealm team, who've used it as a place to unveil new characters in their fighting game series. Raiden was revealed during July's Evo Championship. A new reveal is currently rumoured for Gamescom [full story].

If the cover is anything to go by, it looks like the Germans are going to love Mortal Kombat X! [Who'd have thought?]. GamePro touts a cover quote that (roughly translated) promises the scandalous fighter will set standards in more than just brutality! An important factor to consider in the notoriously strict German gaming market, where censorship laws always threaten a ban.

MKOmmunity User MKKosh claims the issue also reveals a new playable character. Mortal Kombat Online hopes to verify that claim before reporting. You can help by purchasing the new issue online, or on newsstands where available.

Update: With thanks to MKOmmunity User immortalkombat; we can now confirm Kano is featured in gameplay screenshots [not pictured]! This is great incentive to check out the issue digitally! Register to share all your thoughts on the Mortal Kombat X forum!

Is the game not suppose to take place about 25 years since MK 9? Kano looks younger than he did in MK 3, hell in MK1

.....I hope we get old Shang Tsung from MK1 :nerd:

Boon has been active on twitter again recently and he's also been dropping some juicy hints - perhaps juicer than usual. Take it for what you will, but besides the recent possible leak or Kano in a German GamePro it looks like Boon it heavily hinting towards the condiment brothers back in the game.

The following tweets were taken from Boon's twitter. Whether this is nothing or something, considering the amount of tweets Boon receives on a daily basis and he chose these to respond to.

Thunder God - Gives Raiden the potential to do more damage by enhancing his lightning skills. Includes combos only unique to this variation.

Displacer - This variation enhances Raidens teleport ability allowing him to teleport to multiple attack zones. This ability is good defensibly to escape rush downs and also offensively allowing you to do combat from up close or behind, making Raiden harder to contain.

Storm Lord - This final variation allows Raiden to have a sense of control over the battlefield by setting lightning traps. These traps come in handy when trying to corner opponents and when trying to effect wide areas.

My hype for this game is dying. I'm also not a fan of "3 styles" gameplay.

MK is known to try to do too much, I think history is repeating itself here

^^ I don't see how it is dying. It is a fighting game and it is about as hype as it can be. It isn't like its call of duty or halo

And you basically dismissed the game the minute you saw the interactables. Everyone has their opinions but damn man I swear it seems like you don't want to like the game.

I am super excited still. I am just waiting patiently for new info and for it all to come together in the finished product.

I'm super hyped for the 3 style variations because it will bring more depth to the game. More depth, more high level players taking this game a lot more seriously at offline tournaments.
