MKX Character Renders of Johnny Cage and Mileena surface on Amazon

Johnny Cage
Hollywood action hero Johnny Cage entered his first Mortal Kombat tournament for the publicity. Raiden observed that the arrogant, loquacious Cage, was 'a hero. .. though he may not yet know it.' Raiden was correct, of course: Johnny's martial arts skills were not special effects--and were pivotal in EarthRealm's victory.
Mileena
Perceiving a lack of loyalty in his adopted daughter, Kitana, Shao Kahn ordered Shang Tsung to create a replacement, a daughter worthy to be his heir. Shang Tsung fulfilled Shao Kahn's order by fusing Tarkatan DNA with Kitana’s. The resulting hybrid Mileena is as bloodthirsty and vicious as a Tarkatan, but possesses the martial artistry and poise of an Edenian.
Cassie Cage
The daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade, has a lot to live up to. Her parents were among the few kombatants to survive the wars against Outworld and NetherRealm, and were instrumental to EarthRealm's victories. Cassie is as strong-willed--and occasionally hotheaded--as her mother; and as quick-witted as her beloved dad, which makes her popular within her Special Forces unit.
D'Vorah
Is of a race called the Kytinn, which populates the island realm of Arnyek. The solitary nature of the Kytinn meant a common defense of their realm was impossible; thus it was conquered and merged with Outworld by Shao Kahn. D'Vorah's loyalty and insightfulness, unusual traits for a Kytinn, led to her quick political rise.
Ferra/Torr
The dual being known as Ferra/Torr is mysterious even to their closest allies. It's rumored that Torr and Ferra were Outworld citizens, captured and permanently tethered to each other by the evil sorcerer Shang Tsung in the bowels of his Flesh Pits. They're more likely members of a forgotten symbiotic race, in which the 'rider' bonds with a 'mount.' The rider, Ferra, serves as the de facto brains of the duo, while the hulking Torr is the muscle. It's possible they communicate with each other telepathically, or that Ferra can actually understand Torr’s booming grunts. Found roaming the Tarkatan Wastes by Kotal Kahn’s troops, Ferra/Torr were pressed into service as the emperor’s personal bodyguards.
Kano
Kano is a member of the Black Dragon, a group of international arms dealers. Sonya, Jax and the Special Forces have been trying to shut them down for decades. Though he's from EarthRealm (Australia), Kano usually sides with his home realm's enemies. In the past he provided high tech weapons both to Shao Kahn's Outworld armies and Shinnok and Quan Chi of the NetherRealm. After Shinnok's defeat Kano returned to Outworld, keeping a low profile but making a tidy profit running guns from Earth to Outworld.
Kotal Khan
Kotal Khan was a young boy in the warrior realm of Osh-Tekk when it was merged with Outworld by Shao Kahn. He grew up admiring the Outworld emperor. But Kotal kept hidden from Shao Kahn a secret Osh-Tekk portal to EarthRealm. Kotal's 'magical' appearances and demonstrations of great power in EarthRealm led its inhabitants to declare him a god, whom they called Buluc. After Shao Kahn was killed in the war with EarthRealm, Kotal served Shao Kahn’s heir Mileena. But her instability eventually led Kotal to overthrow her and assume the emperorship.
Raiden
Raiden is the God of Thunder and the Protector of EarthRealm. Millennia ago he and the Elder Gods defeated Shinnok, who sought dominion over the realms. More recently, Raiden thwarted Outworld's attempts to conquer and merge with EarthRealm. However victory came at great cost. Many of Raiden's closest allies were killed in the battle. Raiden's strength was further tested when an escaped Shinnok’s NetherRealm armies attacked an EarthRealm weakened by war. Ultimately Raiden imprisoned Shinnok again--this time in Shinnok's own Amulet.
Scorpion
Hanzo Hasashi was a member of the Shirai-Ryu assassin clan until they and his family were killed by Sub-Zero of the rival Lin Kuei clan. Hanzo's soul was claimed by the NetherRealm sorcerer Quan Chi, who resurrected him as the revenant Scorpion and gave him the chance to avenge his family's deaths.
Sub-Zero
Kuai Liang and his older brother Bi-Han served the Lin Kuei assassin clan faithfully until the first Mortal Kombat tournament. There Bi-Han, code-named Sub-Zero, was killed by the demon Scorpion. Kuai Liang assumed the Sub-Zero mantle and went to Outworld to find his brother's killer.

SPOILER WARNING - CHAPTER ONE OF STORY MODE DETAILED

The prologue begins with a mysterious subterranean cavern decorated with many stone sculptures of characters including a statue of an imprisoned Shinnok shackled in chains, Shao Kahn wielding his hammer, Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage fighting off a horde of Tarkatans and a statue of Liu Kang. An unidentified narrator talks about Raiden setting up the Mortal Kombat tournament with the blessing of the Elder Gods to give Earthrealm a fighting chance against forces from the other realms. The narrator then states that two years ago, Shao Kahn was defeated after he violated the rules of Mortal Kombat and tried to invade Earthrealm and his punishment of death by the Elder Gods. It is revealed that these actions were orchestrated and manipulated by Shinnok, so he could resume his war against Raiden and the Elder Gods.. Most of the Earthrealm defenders were either killed or resurrected as undead revenants under the control of Quan Chi after Shao Kahn's failed invasion.

We are then taken to the scene of a destroyed city, populated heavily with Special Forces soldiers as they come into Kombat against an onslaught of winged and ground Oni from the NetherRealm, we see some gruesome kills from both sides of the battle and then the camera pans up to a helicopter flying overhead. A helicopter piloted by Major Sonya Blade (wearing a white undershirt, black vest and dark green pants which are black at the back with her hair slicked back into a low ponytail), with Johnny Cage (comic-book costume design), Kenshi (MK9 attire) and a small group of Special Forces soldiers sitting in the back. They are headed to an undisclosed location to open a portal that will take them to Raiden's Sky Temple so they can find a way to stop this invasion from the NetherRealm, Kenshi and Johnny Cage discuss a strategy for when they arrive as they need to expel Shinnok and his forces from the temple before Shinnok can endanger all the lives in Earthrealm by poisoning its lifeforce, known as Jensei. Johnny vows to "Kick Shinnok's boney *** back to the Netherrealm."

Suddenly, a spear crashes through the helicopter windscreen barely missing Sonya's face and then Scorpion (In his MK9 attire) teleports inside the aircraft and begins to slaughter the special forces soldiers in some brutal ways. We are then greeted by a cut scene event which pits Scorpion against Johnny Cage, we managed to successfully perform each quick-time-event, but are told that there are some funny and nasty actions that will occur if they are failed (the story will still progress).

Scorpion then knocks Kenshi out of the helicopter, but he manages to latch on by jamming his sword into the side before launching himself back inside. An ice blast then explodes in the aircraft and Sub-Zero appears (as a revenant with yellow eyes, Kuai Liang?) and begins to join Scorpion in attacking Johnny Cage. Just as the duo are about to finish Johnny, Kenshi intercepts and knocks Sub-Zero from the aircraft. Due to the damage sustained, Sonya is forced to perform a crash landing. At street level (the Destroyed a City stage but with fires breaking out and bustling background activity than we have seen previously), Sonya is dazed by the crash and Johnny is confronted again by Sub-Zero (wearing a cross between his classic attire and MK: Deadly Alliance alternate costume) which cues our first actual 'fight' in the story.

We are then taken to a scene where Raiden and Fujin are battling hordes of Oni demons on the outskirts of his Sky Temple. Raiden is in his MK1 attire and Fujin is in a similar costume to his Armageddon primary, with a intricate hairband, shorter braided hair, wielding an impressive staffing Kombat. Raiden is suddenly overwhelmed by a group of Oni, but Fujin gloriously dismembers them with his staff and conjures a huge whirlwind to dispatch a larger number of their attackers.

Quan Chi then appears in the distance walking amongst the wretched and demonic Oni with an undead Stryker, Kabal and Sindel at his side. Raiden tells him he is desecrating hallowed ground with his presence. Quan Chi proclaims that he has returned the three fallen warriors back to life under his control and he then orders them to attack Raiden and Fujin, which appears as no easy feat as Kabal cuts into Raiden's shoulders with his hooks words and Sindel deafens Fujin with her scream.

Meanwhile, we see Sonya, Johnny and Kenshi enter an unnamed forest area. It is here that they are confronted by revenant Nightwolf, Jax and Smoke. Nightwolf commands a band of Oni to attack a group of Special Forces soldiers whilst Smoke (In a masked, new costume) engages Johnny Cage in Kombat, declaring "Smoke is dead, I am an enenra!" - Sonya is confronted by Jax who tells her that "this is your last mission..." before grappling with her. Jax has purple glowing light emanating from his bionic arms and has a more distinguished goatee. Jax gains the upper hand against Sonya but is knocked back by Johnny with him declaring "Gonna fix you some day, Jax." Cue gameplay fight. Jax's variation: Pumped Up.

Kenshi, Sonya and Johnny regroup and press on, entering an ominous looking cavern. The entrance to the hidden portal. Kenshi's sword of Sento guides the group through the caverns, the sword illuminates blowing blue symbols etched into the rock walls. Johnny then quips that Kenshi's ancestors should "hurry up" to find the portals location. A blue portal then begins to stir and expand, the remaining soliders stay to guard the portal as the three character venture into the blue mist.

We are then taken back to Fujin and Raiden's battle with Quan Chi and his revenants, with the two dispatching the three undead Kombatants, Quan Chi then creates a long snaking green spine with a skull attached which wraps around Raiden and squashes itself into his face whilst Quan Chi begins mocking him for his previous blunders. A pair of skeletal hands erupt from the ground and begin to open up, revealing Shinnok within them. Shinnok then blasts the two gods unconscious with a sinister energy from his Amulet whilst threatening to destroy all lifeforces on Earth by corrupting the Jinsei (an existence that controls life on Earthrealm). Shinnok is then surprisingly assaulted by Johnny Cage which causes him to drop his Amulet. As all of the characters begin to scurry around trying to grasp the Amulet, Sonya unloads a full clip from a machine gun towards Shinnok but it is absorbed by a magical ward he surrounds himself with. Sonya and Johnny then enter close Kombat with Shinnok, tag teaming him, but Shinnok knocks Sonya unconscious then uses an impressive set of spells against Johnny, which debilitate him.

The fallen Elder God then goes to finish off Sonya with a powerful magic that emblazons from his Amulet, but Johnny imbues himself with his green energy and jumps in the way and absorbs the blast, saving her. We then enter another gameplay fight, this time against Shinnok, this variation of him being 'Impostor'.

*Shinnok uses a variety of speedy attacks and a robust arsenal of spells from his amulet in his Impostor variation, some energy rises from the ground like Shang Tsung's ground fireballs and he also has a Amulet blast spell that stuns the opponent for a free hit.*

We then see Johnny Cage stylishly sweep kick the Amulet towards Raiden for which he then blasts Shinnok with its power, eventually consuming him, imprisoning him once more. Johnny rushes to Sonya's aid and he gushes when she calls him 'Johnny', implying the beginning of a romance. Raiden then declares to keep the Amulet in his possession but to present it to the Elder Gods for counsel, Fujin confers and Johnny quips about Shinnok - "Enjoy your new digs, Gramps!". End chapter.

My goodness. Does all his start ups have to be 2 frames + 0 recovery? Not to mention he may have the only useful X-ray attack in the game. SOO OP :x
