Employees at an industrial Tennessee cotton gin filed a federal complaint against their former supervisor, accusing him of making racist comments and enforcing a whites-only policy at work.

Supervisor’s Allegedly Racist Remarks Caught on Tape
ABC News
The two men, Untonia Harris and Marrio Mangrum, said the intolerance at Atkinson Cotton Warehouse went on for months. Eventually, Harris had enough and recorded the supervisor's statements with his cell phone.

In one of the conversations, the supervisor told Harris he couldn't drink from certain water fountains.

"What they do when they catch me drinking your water?" Harris asked the supervisor in one of the recordings.

"That’s when we hang you," the supervisor responded.

Another recording featured Harris talking to the supervisor about using a microwave.

"Why can't I use the microwave man?" Harris asked.

"No. You’re not white," he responded.

The supervisor even took to comparing black employees to monkeys, the men said.

"We all know what monkey means," Mangrum said. "That’s very offensive."

"I had to bite my tongue a lot," Harris said.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission was investigating the discrimination claims.

Lawyers watching the case said the warehouse will need to settle.

"I’m sure there will be other witnesses who can also confirm these things were said," said employment and labor law attorney Matthew Billips.

The company that runs the warehouse, Federal Compress, released a statement to ABC News saying it had "zero tolerance" for discrimination and that the supervisor was no longer employed with the company.

Sad to see that this is the world that we live in today.

The **** that REALLY gets under my skin is that WE BUILT AMERICA.

We put out blood sweat and tears into this country, only to continue to be oppressed and enslaved :smh:

I swear B, us Black folk need to stand up. The times are coming, forreal forreal. It's time to stand up

 this is horrible.

One of my uncle's was talking to a guy in his safety class and dude was telling him about his recent trip. He was driving by some town and stopped for gas (he's black) and got chased out of town. He found a brother so he asked him if he knew where he could get gas. Dude told him to go to his house and as he was filling his tank dude told him, "You didn't stop in the last town did you? They strung one of us last week."

"can only drink from certain waterfountains"

I would have looked, laughed, pee'd in the nearest water fountain, flicked him off and walked right to an atty's office.

Tell me I can't do something because I'm black? Nah, doesn't sit well with me.

as for the jokes...would have found another job, I know it ain't that easy, but if you are uncomfortable with the corporate atmosphere, leave. There is a difference between work life and personal life, people forget that. In your home life, you want to say ish like that, then you're more than free to do so, but you bring that to work, nope, not rocking.
