Kobe X Official Thread Elite Series ‘Elite Team’ April 18th, ‘Elevate’ May 15th, ‘Rose Gold’ June 5

you clearly don't hoop/exercise. Shoes absolutely have a huge effect. Why do you think Dr. Scholl's is so successful?
Ignorance mainly. I hoop all the time actually and shoes don't matter as much as your biomechanics do. Ever hear of barefoot running? Why would elite runners do it?

When playing basketball, one is doing alot more than just running though. Shoes matter when playing semi-serious to serious basketball

Not impressed by the first colorway we've seen of the X's, but not completely turned away like I was by the Elite lX's. I'll stick around for a bit longer.

Shoes definitely matter.
This! Dudes are constantly getting hurt from wearing the wrong gear in the gym. They come in wearing running shoes, trainers, and even turf trainers. You can even worn them and they still try it, until they twist them ankles up. Next time you see them..... fresh basketball kicks on deck! lol

I wore kobe 8 that don't have much bounce in the lunar insert anymore and my legs were aching like crazy.

That's what I'm experiencing fam
Bottom out lunar insoles really kill my knee..
Trufax! It's like hooping in Low Top Chuck Taylor's.

My Easter 8's are full of Struggle on the court.

Partially correct. I like certain shoes more than others because I have flat feet (podiatrist said I got flap jack feet lol).

Some shoes have better arch support and some have virtually none. Now that I have orthotics it's a lot better, but before them I couldn't wear certain shoes without having back pain and foot pain.

okay so let me give you an analogy that I think will clear things up. Shoes are like pens. They don't make an artist better skill wise but change how an artist moves or places lines on a page. Shoes are tools. When I lace up my kobe 9s I use the traction to move differently than I would in say the LeBron 12s. They definitely make a difference.

Design-wise, the X seems to have taken a few steps back. Hoping these pics are just unfinished prototypes.

If you have bad biomechanics, shoes aren't gonna necessarily "cure" your pain. However shoes do help absorb shock when sprinting and making quick cuts. Basketball players can not use the same shoes that a runner would because basketball has different demands than running. Obviously you can play ball in runners but it wouldn't be better than a basketball shoe.

With the Artist analogy. Artists will use tools that best suit their style of Art. Therefore an athlete should were shoes that best suit there sport. In basketball their are shoes that best fit a persons style of play. No shoes do not make a player better but finding the right shoes can help an athlete stay healthy which is a huge part of sports.

Not really. Just traction and containment. I have had some of my best jumping days jumping in old Nike Free's. It doesn't matter all that much, I just love how Kobe's have been the more flexible and low to the ground models the last few years.

Jumping is one facet of basketball. Frees aren't going to give you the traction or lockdown that you need for basketball.

jumping in running shoes? you're just asking for your ankle to give out.

I think this is an arguement on if you can play well in non basketball shoes and that answer is of course. you can play in timbs and be 'alright' but there's a reason why there are shoes that are made specifically for basketball. Cushioning, traction, security, stability all these things and more are accounted for in these shoes to support every motion basketball players need.

To say that shoes don't matter because you can jump in non-basketball shoes is like saying you don't need utensils because you can eat with your hands
