Jordan Brand will be remastering (building better quality shoes) starting in 2015

Unfortunately its a combination of People who camp just to resell, People paying 225+ for 160 dollar shoes, Hype, Nostalgia and JB being aware of all this. Those are the reasons why these prices keep going up. Its a perfect scenario for JB. Hell, they could increase the prices again without increasing quality and most of these boneheads would still buy these shoes. However, JB has a moral obligation as a company to make the best product they can, and given the past 10 years, they have failed horribly in that aspect. As time went on, they should have use the technology updates and streamlining in manufacturing to figure out how to make the best product they could, all the time, like they did from 85 to 2004.

I agree with you about everything except their moral obligation.  The only obligation that JB has are to their shareholders.   Its what wrong with the world today, but profits and dividends trump everything homey

How does it play a big part when there is ZERO R&D costs involved??  If you were talking the game shoe, I could see it but not on a 25-30 year old shoe with no updates...
LOL what does R & D have anything to do with inflation? Did you even pay any attention in economics, at all bruh?

Hot dog buns are twice what they were 15 years ago. Do you wanna bring up the fact that there was no R&D in that too?

Y'all still talkin that inflation talk in here huh??? So I guess when they retail for $225 and up in the next few years y'all can say it's just inflation and continue to feed the greed? Like I have said as well as others here... JB is raising prices because of the price idiots pay for resale!!! That's the main reason! Everything the inflation gang is saying may very we'll be true but resale prices are the number one reason!

You must have your MBA and Masters in Economics huh

Hey man if y'all like helping the rich get richer while getting subpar overpriced J's in return by all means do you lol! Not to mention it's the same shoes retroing every few years...

I wonder with all of these remastering, if they will be more durable to play in.

This has always been the barometer for me. A high quality shoe should be able to take a beating on court, then still look good afterward. I know that many will not want to play in these, but personally, I like playing in all retro's from the big three brands. I like them a bit better than the new lighter and more flexible fare. It would be nice to see if they are going to be made like the joints of old, those that you could wear both in the park, and then in the gym, that would be a huge selling point for me. Right now, only the Black /Red XI's and all the XII's can handle that kind of work.

The quality on Shaq Attack Reebok retro's are damned good, materials used and otherwise.

What was the original pricing on those?  They retailed at 159 last year. I had fun playing in those this past summer.

To end this pointless debate.

1. Prices will increase due to the use of better materials on the remastered line. (e.g., Lab Series)

2. JB has already publicly announced their plans to capitalize on the reseller prices the market is willing to pay for retros.

3. Arguing on the internet is like competing in the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still ******ed.

I'm not an overly PC type of dude but pretty sure that's not cool

It was hardly a shot at people with disabilities and moreso the fact that arguing on the internet is utterly stupid and pointless. I take it you guys have never heard this analogy before? However, if anyone feels offended, my apologies.

No one cares breh. It is what it is. If you don't like it, exit stage left and keep it movin. 200 dollars aint **** anyway. 160, 200, 220...whatever.  Joints were 125 in 1990. It's been just about 25 years. Now the price is 200. Get over it. Louis Vuitton bags are THOUSANDS of dollars.  Decent ticket to the Lake Show is about 400 dollars. A MacBook Pro is 1500-2000.

J's are popular (demand). All these reasons = 200 dollars and up. The complaining is getting old. It's not even that big of a difference. And I'm glad they re retro every few years. Yeah, I said it.

Retro's are a joke in general for basketball. It's designed these days to just be a casual sneaker. The carbon shanks you remember are not the same thing they use now. The leathers are weaker and thinner, and there isn't as much padding or support. If you wanna hoop in a retro, just immediately get over the idea of having a high peforming sneaker. And they won't hold up to a beating, not even the remastered ones (well we'll see but I just doubt it).

There are options under 100 dollars that are FAR SUPERIOR performers in every category. So....pick one. Either retro style, or function.

That being said, if I HAD to pick a retro model to hoop in, I'd prolly go with the 12. The sturdiest one. The new remastered retros they have lined up for next year might last a tad longer, but they'll just look and  feel better. They're making their quality improvments aesthetically, for the casual wearers. We comprise atleast 90 percent of their revenue base. They give no damns about performance, just looks.

Your definition of a great shoe will differ from mine, due to the fact that we are two entirely different people with different foot shapes, different body types, different needs for comfort, and most assuredly, different games.

So what you are claiming to be a better choice, really does not have any influence on what it is that I choose to play in. My questions were about the level, the quality of materials, if they would be more durable for ball, and if the Reebok Shaq Attack's pricing is comparable to the original release.

Thanks for your response.

Another clown who will cop right here.  The truth is you just dont get it.  You come in here preaching some nonsense about something you really have no damn idea about.  I gotta ask though - why you in the JB threads?  I mean for someone like you who gets it, why waste your time in here.

Yall the ones gettin all butt hurt because someone trying to PREACH being smarter and not letting folks get over on you! You are definitely a clown if you think you are the only person entitled to an opinion but tell me this... WHY DIDNT RETRO PRICES INFLATE IN THE LATE 90's AND EARLY 2000's??? They all retroed at OG retail! Guess inflation only works 20+ years later...

In regards to inflation, China has had trouble keeping it under control.  Using monetary crap that is against global trade and violates that but I digress as this is not really raising the price of shoes $20.   I am wondering what exactly quality wise is going to be improved upon.  Is $20 going to make or break me in regards to copping?  No....and Nike marketing knows this about it's market for these shoes.  In all honesty, if $20 is make or break for you then $200 shoes are the last thing you should be worrying about.  Probably rent, heat, etc. should be first on a person's list if that is the case.

This is the exact reason jordan is number one Jordan brand sees the bigger picture and pays attention to detail is what the number one player in the industry does. They make the rules .everyone else just follows and trys to keep up

well Demand is why anything sells in general.. if there were no demand for a product no one would buy it.. thats macro economics 101 my friend.. but to say inflation doesnt exist in Jordan brand pricing is ignorant.

Manufacturing cost increase + shipping cost Increase + salary of employees increase + demand of product = increased prices,

Price increase is not all DUE to inflation and I dont think anyone is saying that, but it defiently plays a big part,
I would argue that the costs of manufacturing decrease as they are using cheaper materials.
