Jordan Brand will be remastering (building better quality shoes) starting in 2015

Son, if they can reproduce the materials and shape of the OGs, I'm down. I just want a quality retro product again.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...If a decent quality product requires me to pay a higher price then I'm all for it...

In reading that whole interview there is still tons of questions left unanswered but for them to say this is going to be over all Retro's tells me we won't see the massive product runs that we've seen over the past couple of years...Also I think it would be safe to assume that we won't get near as many releases as we're accustomed to getting...For all intents and purposes it very much sounds like their release strategy they had back in 99' to say 03' ish...

That being said...This is obviously going to go one of two ways...1) This will seriously boost resale prices across the board...Basically business as usual...simply due to the now limited nature of all their product...or...2) This is going to be the last push needed to burst the retro bubble that's been growing over the past decade...There has got to be a fine line to what the consumer is going to be willing to pay...

I'd predict it's going to very much like the Bron and KD lines in that the more widely produced color ways are going to be easier to obtain, even sit for a fair amount of time...Meanwhile the limited pieces will maintain their highly limited pieces will still be nightmarish for those looking to cop...

At this point we will be looking like $250 for standard retro's with $300 for limited models and things like XI Mids...That's got to be the tipping point I'd imagine...

I don't think it's a coincidence that the X was the first mold that they are focusing on either. Them soles exploded a like hot dog in the microwave this NBA season

Agreed!!! I took the same strategy

believe me. Real collectors would pay 20 bucks more for a jordan retro that would come very close to the og.
here is an example:
Spend 170 on a aj6 black/red with nubuck upper, jumpman, no 3m
Or
190 with durabuck upper, nike air and 3m?

I somewhat agree. This thinking varies by model.

Not happy about the price increase at all, and at first glance all of this comes off as an excuse to hike up the price. When we get to see more of the shoes and people start getting them in hand and the quality is actually noticeably better, I'll believe them.

100% agree with this...

To me it's better two fold because, in addition to actually getting the better quality that we've all been wanting, it will gradually weed out the fly by night Jordan heads simply due to the higher price points...

Like I wrote earlier, look to the Lebron line for a representation of how this should play out...Limited shoes are limited shoe so they, by nature, will almost always be a headache to obtain...But the general release models, which according to that article will share in the same amped up quality, will be easier to obtain again simply due to the high price point...

From where I'm sitting it's looking like this is a good thing all across the board...

I think that should be a given. Better shoe = more money. U pay $250 for a Nike Foamposite and u can take that shoe to hell and back and it will still look brand new. Plus many folks already are paying $200+ for these low quality retro Js with all the tipping, pre ordering, and boting going on.

bout time...and of course the price will b increased....premium materials=$$$...i love how people can tell how good/bad the materials are from looking at pictures that are not even the final product...only time will tell

For a complete makeover of a whole shoe with a whole new set of materials and more strict quality control is worth an extra little dub all day to me.

that isn't what's going on. what's going on is they've successfully brainwashed you. they say this all the time and you act like it's Christmas and true.

This is a good move but realistically we shouldn't have to pay for better quality. If they never dumbed downed materials to gain more profits this would've never happened. No way 20+ yr old kicks should cost more than current models.

Lol they didnt brainwash me, i already pay 200 for the retro Js theyre putting out now. And if the price increased next year 10-20 bucks and kept the same quality it still wouldn't deter me from purchasing the shoe. Hell this is a BONUS to me personally, since i was expecting the price jump anyways.

The new breed of collector will succumb to this gimmick.  They'll just do it again at the 50th anniversary and a whole new batch of "sneakerheads" will fall for that, too.
