If you're good with clippers you could cut it yourself. If not go to a barber. I wouldn't pay those high salon prices just to get part of the sides and back shaved.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.

But part of me feels like the salon people will really hook it up since this looks like it's up their alley.
 
what's a good cut for a guy with coarse hair that's wavy when it gets long?

This sucks! When it gets too long, it also gets a little nappy....smh

When it's short, it's manageable, but after a certain length - fuhgetabboutit

Also, what's a good tip to give to a barber if the haircut is $25?

Just rock your hair long man. I wish my hair was wavy, i'm growing it out and it looks bad if I don't put product in it.
 
I got 6 days to figure out what haircut I'm going to get..Always had a buzz cut my whole life..4 yrs ago I decided to let it grow..Now it's almost to the middle of my back..But I'm getting sick of it cause the only thing I can do is just let it hang down or ponytail it..But my hair is thin so the tail is skinny and I feel like I look a little white trashy..I'm getting a noticeable bald spot and I'm starting to feel like that old dude that's desperately trying to cover my spot..So I figured I'd just accept that I'm getting a bald spot and I want to cut my hair off..But I have zero clue on what to get..I've never styled my hair or used product..So here's my question..

1. Do any of y'all have a bald spot/thinning crown?..
2. What kinda haircut are you rocking?..

Help me out guys cause if I can't figure it out, Im cancelling my appointment and breaking out the dusty clippers in the closet..

I'm at the barber shop and idk what haircut to get. I was growing it to get a pampadour but I'm not feeling it now. Thinking about going back to a faux hawk. I been combing it to the side but I hate the side haircut. It's just not for me

I got all my hair cut off..Went with the comb over w/medium fade..When I was a kid I always parted my hair to the right cause of a cowlick, but my barber said I was doing it wrong and parted it to the left..And it's looks great..Couldn't be happier..Now I just have to get used to using pomade and styling my hair..

Can you guys recommend some good pomade?..I want something with long lasting hold and washes out easy..

@casekicks - Not sure of your style man or exactly what your hair looks like. But could something like the mini ponytail/bun with shaved sides posted towards the top of the page work? The only reason I'm suggesting that is maybe it could help cover your balding spot if you're worrying about it.

describe your hair before assuming there is one particular best pomade as that i very subjective and depends on the type of hair you have and type of hold and finish you want.  Scent wise are you sensitive to anything in particular or have a preference?

I have medium thickness hair..I'm an easy sweater so I need something that can hold up to sweat..I don't want the super greasy look, but a little shine would be nice..I'm not sensitive to any particular smells..
 
Been getting an undercut for the past few months and letting the top and back grow out.

I just moved across the country to Chicago, but luckily my barber put me in contact with a dude who does great work so i am excited to see what he can do.
 
I want a cut similar to Juan Mata. I'm not sure if I have the right hair for it though. Mine is not as curly as his.
 
Added a skin taper to my pompadour (sp?) and it looks even better. I use Axe pomade, not the best but smells hella good.
