OFFICIAL HALO MASTER PATCH COLLECTION, VOL: sign up for a patch beta! No really....

32 seconds into this vid, the ball carrier dies, and the announcer says "ball thrown". Cant be sure whether this was by design or just leftover Halo 4 code, but if they have added ball throwing into H2A then

They just dont want to let Objective be man, its bad enough that they started to phase out and then completely phased out juggling the flag/bomb/ball in Reach then H4, but then they added the Flagnum( STUPID) and oddball throwing( VERY STUPID). It better not be there man, it better not.

Ball throwing is confirmed for H2A...why man why. We just can't have nice things.

What is meant by throwing the ball?

Is that like throwing the oddball skull far to your team mates before you die?

Yup. This nonsense

Absolutely ruined Oddball. It used to be so simple, if you were going to die, you played the ball( throw it off the map or jump mid map with it and leave it there), or put shots in the guy before you died. Thats as much as you needed, in Halo 4, you could throw the ball farther than you could grenades

The universal settings (and map rotation) you're referring to are the settings we'll be using in the Halo: CE playlist. There's no other way to do it. There may be a select few (carefully selected) game types added to the rotation over time (not currently planned, but certainly possible), but the playlist will largely be the game types and settings that you've been playing for the past 10+ years with little to no deviation.

As far as 4v4 / 2v2 goes, the current plan is to launch at 4v4. Although there are many who believe that 2's is the way to play CE (I'm one of them), we're planning on launching the playlist at 4v4 for a variety of reasons, one of the biggest of which is that 4v4 has historically been much more popular than a 2v2 list across all Halo titles, and also launching without a 4v4 CE playlist for the game's Xbox Live debut would be a miss. That isn't to say that the team size in this playlist couldn't change, nor that we aren't planning on featuring (and test running) a CE 2v2 playlist, nor that a 2v2 CE playlist couldn't become a mainstay (or even the mainstay), but 4v4 with classic universal settings is the current launch plan. I'm confident that it's the right decision for launch, and I hope the above makes it clear that we're aware of the current and constant state of universal Halo: CE settings and preferred team size amongst the core crew, and something we're mindful of.

Happy to share more about playlist stuff / thinking shortly once IGN releases their daily drop. Night all.

From 343. The rest of the playlist info drops later. 4V4 CE is nowhere near as popular as 2v2 amongst the community of people that still play it.

Its like they started paying attention to what people were saying. I might shed a tear. The only puzzling thing is that theres no Team Doubles playlist. It was a pretty popular playlist in every game it was in, but I didnt play it all that much so IDC.

eSports will probably push H2A more than anything but whatever, now we just need to see gametypes in these playlists.

Team Hardcore: Tournament approved gametypes, I wonder if that means that Amplified and Onslaught are coming back? :nerd:

I'm so excited and have so many questions. I really can not wait now.

Halo 2 and 3 being lumped into team Hardcore is going to be a problem for people being that those two games don't play the same at all with most people hating H3, but I loved it so I'm all good.

Yup, they'll add for sure. They're doing all this mixed stuff to introduce every game to everyone. After the first update they'll put an end to all that

That was in regards to 2v2. So it looks like swat will be rotating woth other stufd

Is eSports gonna be like MLG settings or something??
More or less. MLG isnt an official partner of Halo anymore, but 343 has 4 pros who work direclty for them in charge of these playlists so we can expect to see things such as no radar, a lot of guns being removed, set weapon timers, and a ton of gametype alterations
I kinda wish they had a straight halo 3 team slayer playlist. Sometimes i just wanna play 3.
I feel you, but honestly Objective would never survive on its own, it has to be lumped into the game playlists. As someone who prefers OBJ to Slayer I'm all for it, and trust me, most of the time you search people are just going to veto for Slayer anyways.

Yeah Team Doubles is going to make it in as a rotational and probably become permanent.

Team SWAT came in as a weekend playlist in H3 and was made a full time playlist the next month.

It has to do woth what maps are used. Hardcore would use any map where as eaports would use the preferred maps of the mlg community

Or maybe its the orher way around. The explanation was comfusing

Yeah it was. I feel like the eSports playlist will only contain Halo 2 Anniversary gametypes, being that theyre trying to push it as the feature game of MCC. Team Hardcore will contain a fair amount of maps but not all of them, especially in H3. Stuff that was in the Bungie Halo 3 Team Hardcore playlist probably wont be in this one like Isolation or Construct Oddball.

What I'm really curious about is if theyre going to use the H3 MLG settings over what tradition Team Hardcore was. Cause H3 team hardcore didnt have increased speed, damage, or jump height, and a lot of the maps were untouched. MLG did a way better job of making a hardcore playlist than Bungie did.

A few extra notes:

The Rumble playlist is essentially the ranked Rumble Pit (Lone Wolves, if you prefer) playlist, and the focus at launch is H2A. The current thinking is that this playlist would likely expand into a larger FFA playlist -- this will largely depend on population and player behavior trends, not just in this playlist, but also others.

As Frank stated, playlist popularity and data will greatly determine how the playlist lineup moves forward.

Also, there is a strong H2A focus at launch as this is the brand new experience in the box. Again, numbers and feedback will determine the overall lineup, H2A playlists included. Could this open up spots? Yes. Could the H2A playlists perform better than all others? Yes. Time will tell.

Also, H2 4v4 will currently features a mix of both BR start and SMG start. Some maps will feature BR only (due to most common engagement distance), some will have both options in the voting. Team Hardcore will obviously feature BR start, classic tournament settings.

More from 343 regarding playlists. No surprise that H2A weightings in playlists than other games in the mixed playlists.

:x :x :x :x :x At including SMG starts. This means AR starts are going to be in H3. Why why why why why...... Even though they shouldn't be there at all I'll deal with it in Slayer I have for years but if those starts make it into objective then

Because that's how it was in the original games. They did just fine

You quoted me pre edit but my main gripe is with objective gametypes.

That's how they started, both games ended up finishing off with BR starts dominating objective gametypes and in Halo threes case AR starts were removed all together from ranked team objective.

They were bad in Slayer but it's never going to change but objective is impossible to play well when you don't start with the BR. It becomes absolute nonsense.

Bro, we wanted the original game, they gave us the original game. If you want all that make some custom games.

Playlist makeup has nothing to do with the actual mechanics of the game though.

They're not gonna make you start with the plasma pistol in Halo CE and that's now the original game was. Bad gametypes are bad gametypes.

And you have the option to NOT play those game types. It's whatever though man. You've also complained about the sound FX being different so meh.

Do I really though? Not everyone shares the same philosophy I do. Some people veto for maps as opposed to gametype. I could play H3 right now and if The Pit came up, no matter what gametype is on it, people in the lobby are going to keep it. Myself on the other hand I veto for gametypes, dont even care if its a map I despise, if its BR starts I'm gonna keep it. Every once in a while I'm going to get plopped into an AR/SMG start objective game.

I think you just take Halo waaaaay too seriously. Your concerns do not represent that of the vast majority of people who will be playing TMCC.

I dont deny that I take the game seriously, but what I will say that a change like that would go unnoticed by the vast majority of people who play. They dont care what weapon they start with, whereas the people who do take it seriously and will still be playing 5+ years from now do.
