Well on the plus side, 343 is highly confident in the fact that the patch is going to fix MatchMaking. Theyre not pushing back Halo Championship Series which starts this Sunday.

The update and Patch Notes are also coming out today.

I hope those HCS settings were altered after the pre release tournament cause there were a few things that were bad about them

Don't they play matches on LAN ?
Its going to be a mixture of both now to help exposure. There are going to be weekly/monthly online events that teams can earn standing points, small prizes, and seeding position for which all leads up to the LAN events where the huge cash payouts are distributed.

I'm all for it, its going to help exposure for Halo cause getting to these events which are sometimes in the most random of places isnt cheap for people.

Srs

Give me the date when the patch drops that's all I need to know. Patch notes cool tho  need to see everything they're fixing.

It's idiotic really. Why are giving out that sort of info anyway? "Here's a list of everything we sold to you that was broken".

Really?

Tell us when the game is working like it should of been when you sold it

We really should be using this thread instead of the other

I'll start making an effort. Still no eta on the update? I think it's safe to say that given 343's track record thus far "later this week"'= Saturday

Well I was wrong, they left everything default except taking secondaries away.

Thank goodness is 6-3 in favour of Objective. No Ball yet though :frown:

@jvjidNite glad to hear. we've made additional tweaks since the patch, and MM should continue to improve. Please keep me updated!

At least we're back to a point of where 343 is talking again. If we end up with another H4 Thanksgiving issue then people are going to riot in the streets

Frankie:

I am not going to post until I have something constructive or meaningful to say. We're literally all hands on deck. I'm posting in the OT to stay sane between rounds of game sessions and note taking. Also I just had three candies for lunch if anyone wants to get super detailed.

The official information and updates will be on Waypoint first.

They have yet to push HCS back

We wanted to provide you with an update on what we’re seeing as a result of yesterday’s content update (CU). We realize that silence and opacity, even when we have nothing new to say, is frustrating. With each change and/or update we make, it takes time for us to capture and analyze the data to determine the tangible impact to the game experience.

Additionally, we've already begun work on future updates which will be informed by the data and community feedback we’re seeing from yesterday’s CU.

Our data shows that the CU improved things statistically, but we are aware that far too many are not seeing improvements. We continue to work on these issues, with our primary focus being on matchmaking performance. Additionally, we also noticed that the CU inadvertently introduced some new UI bugs, which will be fixed shortly.

For now, you will continue to see uneven match-ups and larger than normal team sizes in matchmaking. This is a temporary situation that is caused by the fact that we are allowing more players than normal into a matchmaking session in order to improve overall matching times. We realize this is not ideal, and we will reset those parameters to their expected behavior as soon as our matchmaking improves to a level where players are consistently getting into matches in shorter time frames.

Additionally, in yesterday’s patch notes, we announced that parties would no longer be split after a matchmaking session, and we’re aware that this bug has regressed. This issue, along with others, will be addressed in the coming content updates. We’ll be monitoring feedback and data over the weekend, and will provide an update on Monday regarding our progress.

Moving forward, we will continue to post the details of our fixes on Waypoint in order to keep you updated with the latest information.

Please keep an eye on this thread (http://aka.ms/mcc_updates) for details as we continue to make updates to the title.

343 Industries
I bet come Monday they will have it all figured out and fix it Thanksgiving weekend.

Also I would rather wait 20 minutes than deal with the uneven teams thing. Thats backwards thinking 343

Based on community feedback we’ve received since yesterday’s update, we are bringing the Halo 2: Anniversary Rumble playlist, which features a variety of FFA game types, back into the matchmaking rotation. Our team continues to work on resolving existing matchmaking issues such as party splitting and uneven teams, and in the meantime, this playlist will offer a mix of game types that are not affected by these known issues.

The H2A Rumble playlist will be coming online within the next few hours, and you should see it appear in your playlist lineup shortly. The playlist is currently unranked, but we’ll be bringing ranking online once we’ve ironed out existing matchmaking issues.

Additionally, we’d like to take this opportunity to provide some additional troubleshooting steps that will help ensure the best Halo: The Master Chief Collection experience while our team works on resolving existing issues behind the scenes.

Team splits? Make a playlist where are no teams. Watch it somehow put people on teams , it wouldn't surprise me if it happens to someone.

The split teams is the most annoying thing to me right now. I've been in multiple games where I'm on the short end of a 5v3, and then my teammates just quit as the game starts, so I'm left going against 5 guys lol...

and they need to make team slayer 4v4. or have a separate playlist for 5v5 on the larger maps.

Game works well enough to the point now where they need to add ranks in. Not being able to consistently get competitive games is annoying, and I dont want to play with Superkid743642 and his guest Superkid74364(1) in every playlist.

It does work "well enough" but it's a shame that "well enough" is even passable. The playlists are still :x
BY 343 INDUSTRIES  - 1 HOUR AGO
In recent weeks, we have been conducting extensive internal testing of an upcoming content update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Given the scale of the update, which includes changes to the matchmaking experience and party system, we are expanding testing to include select members of the Xbox One Preview program to ensure the official release is the best possible experience for all players.

The content update beta test is open to Xbox One owners within North America who have a copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection and have opted-in for Xbox One beta testing as part of the Xbox One Preview program. This is an opt-in opportunity and the content update will only be made available to selected participants within the Xbox One Preview program, based on the highest levels of engagement with Halo: The Master Chief Collection. On Friday, January 23, participants selected will be prompted to download the content update automatically when the title is started.

To learn more about the content update beta test, please see the FAQ below.

Q:           I’m a Preview Member, how I do sign up?

A:           More details on the program and how to sign up are available with the Xbox Preview Dashboard app on your Xbox One.

Q:           Why are you testing the content update in the Xbox One Preview program? Don’t you have internal playtesting for the very same purpose?

A:           In recent weeks, 343 Industries has been conducting extensive internal testing of the upcoming content update. However, given the scale of the update, which includes changes to the Halo: The Master Chief Collection matchmaking experience and party system, we are opening it up to members of the Xbox One Preview program to provide additional testing in an “at home” environment to ensure the official release is the best possible experience for players.

Q:           What is included in the content update you are testing in Xbox One Preview program?

A:            This content update includes changes to the Halo: The Master Chief Collection matchmaking experience and party system. We will have more details to share as we get closer to the official release.

Q:           Who will be eligible/invited to participate in this beta test of the next content update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection?

A:            Xbox One owners within North America who have a copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection and have opted-in for Xbox One beta testing as part of the Xbox One Preview program will be eligible to participate in this program.

Q:            Why are only players within North America eligible to participate in this beta test?

A:            Due to the beta testing session times, we are selecting players within North America to ensure optimal population.

Q:            How are participants being selected for this beta test?

A:            Xbox One owners within North America who are part of the Xbox One Preview program, have a copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection  with the highest levels of engagement are who we are targeting.

Q:           When will the beta test of this content update take place?

A:            Exact dates/times are subject to change, but the current plan is to test the content update during the evenings of Friday, January 23 through Monday, January 26.  Specific session times will be shared with the selected participants.

Q:            If I am selected to participate, how will I get access/download the content update? When will it be available?

A:            On Friday, January 23 (exact time to be determined) participants selected will be prompted to download the content update automatically when Halo: The Master Chief Collection is started.

Q:            If I’m selected to participate, am part of the Xbox One Preview program and have automatic downloads enabled…will I automatically get this update?

A:            This is an opt-in opportunity and the content update will only be made available to selected participants within the Xbox One Preview program.  On Friday, January 23 (exact time to be determined) participants selected will be prompted to download the content update automatically when Halo: The Master Chief Collection  is started.

Q:           If I’m selected to participate, how should I report a bug in the content update beta test?

A:            If you run into any issues while checking out the beta update, be sure to use the Feedback app on the Xbox One (for Xbox One Preview program participants) to tell us about it. Hold the power button on your controller, then select "Give Feedback" to launch the Feedback app.

Q:           What will be the anticipated file size of the content update for this beta test?

A:            We are still determining the final file size of the content update, but participants should have 1-2GB of hard drive space available.

Q:           Will I still be able to use multiplayer matchmaking against other players that don’t have this content update?

A:            No, during the time of this beta test when this content update is installed, you will only be able to be matched with other players that also have the content update.

Q:           After the beta test of this content update is over, will I be able to use multiplayer matchmaking against other players without this content update?

A:            In the days after the conclusion of the beta test, we will issue a content update that will then allow matchmaking with all players, as it worked prior to the beta test.

Q:            When will be the final public release of the content update to all owners of Halo: The Master Chief Collection?

A:            We’re currently focused on gathering data and feedback from Xbox One Preview Program members and will have more details to share soon on the public release of this content update.
https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/community/blog-posts/1-23-15-mcc-content-update-beta-test-faq

In summation Halo: The Master Chief Collection's next content update will be having a beta to ensure that it works properly before it is released to the public days after.

It is making some huge changes to both the matchmaking and party systems which will hopefully fix all those issues. Players who are in the Preview Program and from North America will be able to take part in this beta starting Jan 23rd. During this time, you won't be able to play with those WITHOUT the patch.

Those who want to participate will need to head over to the Xbox Preview App and fill in a Survey titled MCC Update Beta.

How to get into the Preview Program.

http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/system/xbox-update-preview-faq

Now whether you think this was all because MCC was using that new mutliplayer system that M$ is rolling out or not not (Rumor has it that MCC was the first game to use the new Multiplayer and Party system thats being rolled out for the Xbox One and they had no time to test it.) but it looks like they really think that this patch is gonna be the patch to totally fix the game. I may have to join the preview program for this.

In case you havent heard about the whole new MS MatchMaking API thing.

In 2014 Multiplayer, the title places game party members into multiplayer session directory (MPSD) sessions to manage connectivity and report multiplayer interactions. The interaction with MPSD sessions by the title uses the Xbox Services API (XSAPI) and/or the Xbox Live Services RE****l API.
2015 Multiplayer Design The most obvious change implemented in the 2015 Multiplayer is that titles no longer need to access multiplayer functionality through game parties. Instead, they can now perform all multiplayer-related operations directly, using MPSD sessions.

....

Two versions of the multiplayer are available for Xbox One:
2014 Multiplayer. This version is based on the concept of the "game party" and participation in games through parties. This version will be deprecated in later releases.
2015 Multiplayer (previously 2015 Multiplayer Preview). This multiplayer version abstracts the game party concept and uses the multiplayer session directory (MPSD) to control game sessions.
Either way totally unacceptable, I've basically been playing a beta for 10 weeks is what you're telling me. This killed Halo more than anything else, drove away thousands of people who were playing it for the first time with this game.
