What's the obsession with Hookah nowadays?

Is it just me or does it seem like EVERYONE is doing hookah now? If not that, ALL the hip hop artists are mentioning hookah in their songs?

Why?

Example
"hard **** and bazooka, maybe a little hookah"-Fab

"Baby pass me the hookah"-Young Thug

Hookah has been popular ever since Middle Eastern/South Asian immigrants have been coming here I'm not really a fan of smoking it, but it's a really good way to meet/entertain/smash women.

You get a lil buzz out of it, but it's overblown.

Used to smoke that **** in my Arab homies garage every day after high school. Now everyone tryna do it

Good for convos and **** like that, bad for your health though

yea i dont understand, its like no cigarette buzz, no high, not even a tingle sensation. passing the pipe around with a bunch of other guys and some hipster chicks, no stank you

Hookah been popping around here for years, b. You should know that. The first hookah bar I've been to was like in 2003 when I was a freshman in college. A lot of bros and techno music was blasting. I don't smoke though. If you want the Armenian or Persian chicks, you gotta roll thru in a salvaged supercar with tinted tail lights, b.

A hookah lounge is a nice spot to take a chick if you're not a drinker like me...
The ambience is usually chill for dates

I gotta get a lil faded beforehand though

Hookah has been popular in the younger generations. The fruity flavors of tobacco make it appealing. Artists I'm sure are looking at young adults as their target market.
