Dropped some knowledge about money. 'The fuel for choice' I know he's tired of hearing about it.

Dave has that rare ability to where he makes you laugh by simply telling you a normal story.

:pimp:

The only sketch comedy shoe that had 98% if the sketch make you laugh.

Greatest comedy ever!

He wasn't gonna sell out.

Do y'all think the Chappell show can ever re-appear?

The sketches were so on point.

the thing I see about Dave is yeah, he left a ton of money, but he's a special case since imo he has the ability to come back to that whenever he wants. Like Imagine Lebron retired at 25 after playing 7 years in the league. he could easily come back at 30 and still command a great salary. Dave could come back at anytime and get maybe a 10 mill or so deal to do a show. Whether it'd be good or not is another sort but he has hype thats been compounding for 10 years

Def. The comedian game is lacking lately. Besides Louis CK, I don't see any other comedians with a popular show ( I guess not counting late night stuff). And on the black side, Kevin hart is the biggest name. Kevin Hart isn't even in the same league as dave

well they only let one in at a time..... as far as being a huge BLACK comedian goes.... Its a few yrs window to which you get to be on top be in shows/movies all over even when its not warranted or the said comedian isnt well suited for the roles... Its Kevin time... at a time it was Kat, Martin Lawrence had his few yr stint so on and so forth...

Thing with chappelle he went out before he got to that point....and he left on his own terms... He left the audience wanting more. He never got to the point of over saturation. Hes pretty much at a sweet spot where he can pick and choose if you will. Kinda like celion dion, or sade does.... come out hit you with some good material. Leave you with a little taste/sample and have you wanting more... chill wait a few yrs, right before they become irrelevant and then break you off with a little more again.

I never understood why he left, im assuming they wanted him to sellout? In what terms?

I believe Dave said it was a different type of laugh he was getting from white viewers(not all tho) .

it wasnt so much they wanted him to sell out from my understanding, he thought certain people were missing the point and just laughing at racial stereotypes I believe he said it was that pixie sketch in particular that he heard someone laughing the "wrong" way.

I'm not buying this excuse. I'm sure people have been laughing the "wrong" way since the start of the show. I think he's a little off mentally and judging by this interview, I stand by it. He could've been raking in millions off of shows, movies and doing stand up in arenas. He did this to himself.

he went into depth with it with that white guy who use to be on his show and did the narratives on those retrospect skits like the tyrone biggums etc... He essential said they didnt want him to do the making fun of racial skits etc... stereotypes of whites and focus more on doing it with blacks....

They also had an incident to which he was to do a skit a ghetto girl skit, he had a up and coming black female actress he wanted to use...( i think she does writing or did writing on snl ) And the producers insisted no, and said he should do it. Kept pushing the nah you should dress up and play the women, ie it works for tyler and those ppl seem to love it, love his movies.

That and he wanted to focus on more social issues and injustices etc... in community aka gay bashing etc... while spoofing it also exposing ppl ignorance etc... And theey were like nah focus on black folks and their stereotypes etc... he also was constantly getting hate from the likes of the bill cosbys, oprahs etc... And he was saying that, along with how they wanted the direction of the show to go. He basically said i will not make this show a modern day minstrel show. Nor will i try to be on the oh "hes one of the good ones" list.

Someone a few yrs ago posted the video. Its about a 2 hr long video to which he went in. He talked about how ppl prominent black ppl were hating on him, how ppl he met in hollywood were snakes and smiling in his face etc.. How ppl who once dismissed him etc.. all of a sudden wanted to work with him. Basically he was like he just did the show for the love of it, and hated the "politics" and all the drama that began to come with it once it became a huge success.

What exactly did he do to himself??

The fact that Dave turned down all that money should tell you that it was something wrong with the situation. He felt like they were going too far with the racial stuff and he had to bounce. I respect Dave for not taking the money and being a puppet.

doesnt make sense.... he already was worth upward to 20 million dollars. He is a simple man.. Aint into jewelry, cars, exotic things like that. He likes to wear t-shirts, jeans/cargos... and shelltoes/dunks/maxs etc... Hes a video game/movie junkie.. And enjoys bmx style biking and skateboarding and bball. Dude doesnt like fancy foods.. He is a run of the mill reg joe.

With all that being said 20+ mill plus getting residuals from the show reruns is more then enough to "maintain" that lifestyle. I get most ppl dont live that simple life and want everything in abundance and just buying/having things just to say they have it, and are willing to do any and everything to get it. But thats not him.

Be it having 20-30 million and having 60-70 million wasnt gonna make that much of a difference in terms of his lifestyle and the ability to do/have/obtain the things he enjoys in life. Its not like he cant give his kids the best education etc... So if you have everything you want in life. Why go against your morals/principals? What incentives would he have to do it?

You in a sense are saying he should have went against his principals and morals just cause for the sake of just doing it. What kinda person does that.... edit what kind of respectable person does that?
