The Point of Buying OG Jordans

Og 14s hold up well. I've never had issues with my last shots. They're in my current rotation. My og oxidized greens needed a lol glue but nothin major. For me its the quality of the shoe.

For nostalgic reasons, also the quality of MOST OG's are better than current models. IMO, the quality that people complain about are minor, I wear my kicks so they will get beat up eventually, I wouldn't risk buying a OG to wear if there is a newer better version of it out.

Main point for me in buying OGs are the materials used.

Example:

Original XIVs had a mesh sock liner, compared to the Retros that had what felt like a felt sock liner. Wearing low cut socks my foot sweat more with the retros and were harder to clean than the Originals.

Most people are just saying quality, or nostalgia, the original released pairs are made better, they were mass produced but not like todays releases.  There were materials used then that are not used now.  Yes they might fall apart if they haven't been cared for properly, but I'd rather pay $20 to get my sole re-glued than have a pair that look horrible after I wear them once.

there's certain OG's you can't wear, but there's a good amount that you can wear... it really comes down to quality & sentimental value.

Haha I take good care of my shoes, they'll be fine for a while
You can take care of them as much as you want; you will always lose to time.

I gave my friend the Columbias DS 14 years ago.  He wore them to an event a few years ago and thats it.

I went over for memorial day weekend and they are falling apart.

not wearing your shoes doesn't = taking care of your shoes.

i've wore my OG bred 11 since they came out and the sole only needed to be reglued this year because i put them away for a couple years.

i agree with og's being made with better materials and to a higher standard. plus some retros have changes on them. but to each his own. most of all i think price, bankroll and availability has the most to do with it

Yeah you guys are right, I decided to finally wear my 2001 Colombias today and they feel amazing. Thanks for everyone's input

Hate to break it to you , but the shoes you wanted to show off with arent og s fambs. They are retros of the 1996 model.

Not to blame you though. Half or even more of the ''OG HEADS'' in here , dont really know what they are talking about .

Rock what you want and never pay above retail.

Rules no 1 and 2 in my book .

Yea but aside from 1s

Which ones can you actually wear everyday with no issue?
anything from X on up ...I got a pair of OG WHITE/RED XIII's & they are very wearable

I just enjoy the hunt for finding good, wearable OGs. It's easy to line up on a Saturday to cop the latest release but I get a special sense of accomplishment when I go through hours of online digging to find the shoe I'm really looking for. I like OGs from the early 2000s. I can't trust anything from the 90s though. They might fall apart

OG's are just different.. Had some OG XII "bred" and I got the OG Tim Duncan Foams like everybody says.. OG's = Quality

I still wear my 95 concords from time to time with no separation whatsoever. No problems with the midsole although the patent leather on the crease points has started to crack

I used to collect OG's for the simple fact that they were Originals. When I was young I used to see people with OG's and I always wanted them. It's crazy because when I first got into shoes having OG's were :pimp: and the new wave of collectors is making it seem like it's stupid.

I'm more into the older j's as they were built with a lot more quality and have the comfortability that the current retros don't have. My early to mid 00's feel so much different when I put them on. It's like walking in plastic shoes (current models) vs. walking on clouds (older models).

Also, there's the nostalgia factor with "nike air" on the back as that was what was on the Jordans that I wore when I was young. If I could, I'd even get the pairs from the 90s but they aren't anywhere close to being wearable so that's out of the question.

i used to be the same. after 2005 i stopped buying retros all together and only bought the main AJs, Kobes, and Lebrons.

now tho, I started buying retros again because all my old OGs & retros are worn down or sold. now i only want something i can wear without worry about if it'll fall apart even if the quality and material sucks on newer retros.
