wouldn't want to see kobe in another jeresey.....if jeter went to san fran somewhere and won another WS, i wouldn't be happy about that either

He'll have played 20 seasons, man.
He'll be lucky to get thru the next two years, much less play another 1-2 after that.
I don't think he wants a Karl Malone with the Lakers season, no matter how close he gets in the scoring chase, or how close we might be to getting back on top, etc.

I'm a Kobe fan and a Laker fan.
As a Kobe fan, I would love for him to win his 6th ring. Dude is my hero, so seeing him get hurt and watching the struggle last year sucked. I want him to be a Laker for life though. I wish he hadn't alienated everybody into thinking he's some super selfish jerk. I've hung with Kob a handful of times, dude really is cool as hell, and genuinely just wants to win, by any means. I could never ask him to leave, nor would I.
On the flip side, I absolutely hate seeing my Lakers struggle with mediocrity. Of course everything comes in waves. Cycles. I fully believe we'll be back to the top of the mountain again one day. I wish Kobe would be a part of that, but with him having maybe 2 yrs, I don't foresee it happening that soon. I wish we could win now, but I'm realistic, and I've come to terms with the fact Kobe is almost done. Last year really helped as I've had to watch pretty much a whole season without him. That hasn't happened since I was in 4th grade..But we got through it, still alive. Just gonna focus on his glory years and wait it out until the team is brand new.

Like you can look at the Yankees and Jeter this season. He's getting his farewell tour same way Mo did last year and I'm pretty sure he's fine with just that. He'd like to go out on the highest note and the Yankees are probably a lock for the playoffs and even if they made the WS and then lost I kinda think Jeter would still be fine with that. Kobe I don't think so, especially if 2 seasons ago in that terrible loss would be the last time he's in the playoffs.

Lakers aren't going nowhere in the West. Kobe needs to recognize this and leave or save his legs and retire. Why struggle with a team full of reserve players with almost no chance of even making the playoffs.

man, i know kobe wont want that. hell, thatll probably never happen, but if he REALLY wants that 6th, hes gonna have to take a step back. i mean 38 year old kobe isnt gonna be able to drop 25ppg. he should take a page from the book of duncan. guy is still super effective in less minutes and isnt the primary offensive player on the team. if he can stretch his career like vince and stay around that 15-18ppg role, hes still got a mean fadeway thatll make him effective. at the end of the day, its gonna be his ego thatll get in his way of the chase for the 6th.
