From Rotoworld:

Dirk Nowitzki originally agreed to a three-year, $30 million deal with the Mavericks, but when the Mavericks needed additional money to bring on Chandler Parsons, Dirk agreed to shave off an additional $5 million to help them complete the deal.

"He’s just such a unique bird," Mavs GM Donnie Nelson said. "In a lot of respects, where the common stance in today’s modern day game is guys are their own CEOs, and they’ve got a gazillion interests out there and endorsements, and they’re like their own companies, Dirk is a true old-school throwback in that his craft is the most important thing to him... He’s all about winning a championship." Dirk's pay cut from $22.7 million earned last season, to the $7.97 million he will earn next season, is one of the largest one-year reductions in salary in NBA history.

This dude DIRK is truly all about helping his team. TRUE team player right there. Man i really hope he gets another ring before he retires. Hopefully with my boy Monta Ellis Have It All.

Wiggins the next 15 ?

Wow
I've also heard he's gonna be around 15 years
laugh.gif
, not saying he won't but how can people speak with such certainty 5/10/15 years into the future ?

Are you insinuating that Wiggins is going to be some all world defender?
He'll be a lock-down defender. He has the physical gifts, elite athleticism and he has the right attitude. Plus, he's going to learn really quickly in practice playing with and against James.

Here's the thing with this though...

If you are going to take less than your value then that's awesome. Good for you. But you aren't better than anyone else just because you just to take less than your value. Just because a player wants as much money as he is worth or can make doesn't make him want to "win" any less than say, dirk does.

Because someone else decides to take more money makes him less of a team player? I guess what I am getting at is I hate how players who takes less than their earning potential are deemed "smart," "TRUE TEAM PLAYER" and **** like that, when players who decide to make as much or as close to their worth as possible, are deemed selfish relative to the Dirks, and TD's of the world.

Dirk and TD shouldn't be praised for taking less than their earning potential. If they are going to do it? Cool, but don't praise them as some amazing team players just because they don't want to make as much money as they can. Players who take as much money as they can want to win too.

He's going to be able to guard 3 positions.
Yep. That kind of versatility is incredibly rare. It's really valuable.

It takes a lot of pressure off LeBron. Also, when you play a team like OKC that has a athletic freak like Westbrook you don't have guard him by committee and/or rely on help defense. Wiggins could stay with him. Even at 19 or 20 the guy is going to compete defensively.

no ones saying a player is greedy for taking more money

anyone in that sittuation would swing for the stars and get as much as they can.

you are ridiculous in saying we shouldnt praise a player for taking LESS money as in millions to help his team get players in order to possibly win. RIDICULOUS

how come players rarely do it? because they want money, its not saying they dont want to win but if you are a proven and good player, you want the money you deserve. You rarely see players giving up millions of their OWN money and sacrifice it just to win in essentially a game that outside of sports has no meaning in life.

im sorry but your post was idiotic.

Why? If they're willing to take less to win then they do want to win more.

He is like LeBron on defense. Just as athletic. He isn't on Bron's chasedown block level yet but he is close.
