I agree, forfeiting money and taking a stand > playing for your racist owner

You don't need to be a politician to take a stand.

Turning their shirts inside out was weak.

I was very embarrassed for the Clippers when they did it.

Risking a potential title run because my owner said he doesnt want minorities attending the game, stop it

The media put pressure on the lac players & doc to respond some kind of way, like they were blind to the fact of sterlings prejudice ways foh. miss me with that, its well documented, the media put that pressure to doc & he just making himself look more foolish
making a stand against racism in our country (prossibly the biggest stand since the civil rights movement) >>>> failed attempt at a title run

some things are just bigger then basketball.. this issue was.

@ Doc Rivers...

Homie has gone on record saying he didn't know about Sterling's racist past, but has not only played under him, but coached as well. On top of it all, you are REALLY going to tell me that he was ignorant to Elgin Baylor's lawsuit?

Miss me w/ all that mess in all of a sudden having principle or morals. Doc, I see right thru u.

Some people will look at you w/ admiration in thinking you're doing the right thing....I see it otherwise.
Sometimes you have to be in the situation yourself, to really realize how bad things are. Doc knew about Sterling's past, no question, he can lie about it all he wants. However, he probably didn't really take the Baylor lawsuit and Baron Davis comments too serious and probably thought the truth was stretched. Also, although both situations had racial undertones, neither situation directly pointed at racism. Davis's comments were about being taunted and heckled on the court and Elgin Baylor's were about being severely underpaid, like the Clippers were know to do.

And for the players when the lawsuit and Davis comments came out a lot of the players where in college, some in high school. Heck I would be willing to bet money, some of them on their draft night. couldn't tel you who the owner was. I can't blame them for the past, however from this point forward, you can judge them.

I've thought about this a lot and changed my position. As a black man I can say I wouldn't have sat out. You have how many years of competing? and you work all year just to forfeit because your boss makes racially insensitive remarks?

sack up and play. For yourself, your fans, and your family. You have a system to handle these issues, like they are (or at least trying to) - now if next season begins and it's still not resolved that's another thing. but this was the playoffs

Holy **** that's nuts the cupcake store really had the inside scoop before anybody

TGI Fridays gonna drop the bomb on Durant in 2016.

As much as you'd like to think its "for yourself" it's not. You're doing exactly what sterling said you would.

The whole "it's not my problem, someone else will deal with it" ideal is pathetic. IT IS your problem. Who do you think sterling was talking about being paid slaves?

i dont know what kind of family you come from but mine would've looked at me like a clown for going out there and helping put more money in his pockets

lets not make this personal....

Last thing I wanna do is defend sterling, but I'd play for myself and my team mates. Worked too hard to get there. This is unprecedented, no one can say what move was right or wrong with total certainty.

With that being said, if he's still the owner of the team and his name is still on ya checks when this season begins it's time to re-evaluate. You gave the NBA a chance to resolve the issue.

Why is it that NOW is the time? The time was then and there.

What happened to "playing for me and my team"? Y'all worked all summer right? Might win it all this season right?

Nah, all for taking a stand ...... ***when it's in my convenience***

Because what he said and what sterling said are even remotely related in regards to severity.
Sterling said it in the privacy of his own home. Can't this whole thing be called off based just off that. The severity of it depends on who you ask.

Let's be real with ourselves, do you even think Doc Rivers was even thinking about Donald Sterling when he was leaving Boston for the Clippers? This situation wasn't even in anyone's wildest dreams possible. Doc left Boston for a best team and more power, and that reason only. Outside the LeBron/Gilbert situation, I have never seem any player or coach, in any major sport, base his/her decision because of any owners belief's, because majority of the time owner's aren't even in the building, except for a few owners.

Let's put this in the average person terms. How many of use look into a company's discrimination lawsuits or the company's owner beliefs or religion before we apply? None. Heck, we just want the job because it fits us and pays well.

dudes crying bout sitting out and taking a stand

but call ppl snitches when we hit report button on racist comments on here
