Jordan 12 colorway questions

I remember the Jordan 12s from back in high school since someone in my class had them. I thought they were nice but not enough for me to get a pair but lately I've been seeing a few people with them and they're growing on me.

I'm thinking of getting a pair maybe for casual everyday wear but I'm hesitating between the obsidians and the black/white playoffs. I like the contrasting laces of the obsidians but prefer the black/white colorway of the playoffs so I'm thinking of getting the playoffs and putting white laces on them. On the other hand the obsidians are almost black but it's hard to tell from photos just how blue or black they are, just how close to black are the obsidians?

Also, I thought I remembered the black and white 12s without that gray/silver bit near the back of the white part:

Is there another colorway of 12s that are like those but without the silver part or did I just not notice the silver part on pairs I've seen in person (unless I saw the obsidians and they were dark enough for me to think they were black).

Also how does the size run on the 12s?

Is there a better place than eBay for getting whichever colorway I decide to get?

The Obsidians are a really bold navy. In person, they aren't close to black at all. The silver part on the Playoffs has been there since '97. My pair from '04 run kinda big. I usually wear a 13 and wouldn't mind a 12.5 in them. NT B/S and that other site may have them if you look long enough.

Silver tab was always there. I wanted the black ones bad, don't even care that much now. That was a simple yet elegant design, I'm sure it cost pennies to make.
