I wasn't always into shoes. I remember having a pair of steel Xs in 5th grade and a pair of White/Red XIVs in 8th... but until after highschool my number one pair of shoes since then were a pair of light up shoes They weren't even LA Gears.. some super generic shoe from payless.

I remember getting somewhat into shoes during highschool after getting a hand me down pair of Air Metal Max's.
View media item 1032318But my Nike shoe game was short lived, as the popular trend then were K-swiss. My best friend was into fashion, so he'd always be onto the next trend. I went shopping with him and he ended up picking up a pair of white/grey/obsidian Dunks telling me to get a pair cause they're going to be the next popular shoe after AF1s.

"Nah, I'll stick with my K-swisses."

Two years later I end up buying my first pair of Dunks from TRUE SF.

(Don't let the time stamp fool you, I didn't start documenting my shoes until the following year.)

Around that time, SBs were starting to make head way. But it wasn't anything particularly hard to cop. In fact shoes like the Lodens, Sharks, Hulks, were all shelf warmers on Haight street. I was a bit more conservative with my choice of shoes back then. So I decided on something from the 3rd series SBs.

View media item 1032357Not being a fan of the True Red SBs, this was something I thought I could wear on a daily basis... and I still have the same pair to this day. Though I did want a pair of heinekens, but thought $150 was too much to spend on shoes at the time. Ha.

This pair started me looking at the Nikeskateboarding website. The one where it showed all individual shoes, and even what inspired the rider to pick the color. I think this is when I first one of my favorite SBs...
View media item 1032373
I searched for awhile, but no one was ever selling a pair in my size. But I remember offering a substantial amount when a pair came up on ebay.

My friend then told me about an online forum. One of the threads talked about some scammer, and how three members went to his house with Tennis rackets to get people's stuff back. Of course that site was Niketalk.

I was hooked. My little collection of dunks quickly went from two to many very quickly.
View media item 1032380I was really into red shoes at the time.

Its kind of crazy looking back at how I never really had to camp out for shoes at that point.
View media item 1032384The Buck SB I drove to SF with my friend at 7pm the day they released and we both go the size we wanted. With no real hassle other than having to drive 45 mintues.

The Artist series Dunks were my first real campout for shoes. My best friend and another one of my friends stayed in line overnight at Niketown SF for these. I contemplated getting the espos in a size not my own, but decided I'd most likely wear the Pharrell Dunks more.

Collection was growing pretty rapidly.

Realized I was never really going to wear my Pharrells, so I traded them away for something I was going to wear and had a hard time finding.
View media item 1032411Co.Jp Nike Dunk Halloweens. Like my black/true reds, these I still own and kind of ended up turning them into beaters.

View media item 1032368(From top left; Haze dunks, Grunge Dunk Lows, JD euro exclusives, Euro exclusives, Women's Chili Red dunks, FA patent leather dunks, black/gum griptape Pro Bs, Buck SB, Black/True Red SB, Black/white/Gum Ross dunks, Halloweens, Wheat Dunks.)

The Ross dunks were also hard to find at that time. Only pair I ever saw was on eBay same seller always relisting this kind of beat up pair for the pretty high amount of $75.00. I sent him an offer of $40 just to see, and he accepted it. I ended up selling my black/gum griptapes because of the similarity between the two.
View media item 1032415I regretted that a lot, since a little while after that I started collecting all of the griptape dunks.
Bought the Smurf Pro Bs, wore them once and thought way too much blue on my feet. So I sold them. But the suede was super buttery!

Around this time I was frequenting Nikeoutlets a lot. Usually to give people heads up at what was available at the Vacaville outlet.
View media item 1032418View media item 1032419A lot of NTers were on those carnival AF1s like white on rice.

Around this time I started to vary my collection a little by picking up the Zoo York Blazers, and some Air Max 1s from the nikeoutlet.

Side note, had I known how much the these AM1s (especially the currys) would appreciate in value. I would've stocked up. Sadly though, those turned into beaters too.

With all of the new incoming shoes, had to change up my setup. Otherwise the boxes would've collapsed under the weight.View media item 1032438
Besides all of the outlet pick ups, I was also picking up some more dunks and SBs as well.
View media item 1032444Team Red Griptape Pro Bs. Bought this off one of the cooler NTers I've ever met. SneaksnBeatz. Sold it to me for $25. He offered to sell me his Futura SBs for $125, but I wasn't really feeling them at the time. (This also started me looking for all of the griptape dunks)

View media item 1032445Plum Dunk Pro B. I considered getting the rest of the "Ugly Dunkling" dunks. But they were a bit too outlandish for me.

Also made a few Jordan purchases here and there.

View media item 1032520OG VIIIs. I was actually surprised how in tact those VIIIs were. I was able to get 4 solid wears out of them before I got tired of how clunky they felt on my feet and sold them.
View media item 1032517Jordan XI Low Cobalt. Fell in love with that blue jumpman.
View media item 1032467Remember when I said I had a pair of Jordan XIVs in 8th grade? I still remember getting them at the Vacaville outlet. So I'm guessing they were either B grades or they just weren't selling at the time. Or maybe it was because they were Boys sizes. But for nostalgia reasons I couldn't pass up a DS pair almost six years later. I traded the Hunter SBs with NTer Rio Rancho for them.

As well as add another griptape to my collection.
View media item 1032526Lightning/graphite Dunk Pro B. One of the few shoes I regret ever selling.

This I have no idea why I even bought it... I wore them maybe twice. I think it was obscure (Read: Rare), Retrokid mentioned it on his website, and I was able to get it for cheap.
View media item 1032531Digicamo Clogposite. At the time Nike was pretty horrendous at doing camo anything. The camo dunks looked like mold. So I thought it was pretty cool.

Also found some Jordan IX cleats at some big chain sports store that went under, that I can't even remember the name of anymore.

View media item 1032609You can see I added some OG Penny IIs. Got them for cheap since it was around the time they were about to retro them. So I paid a bit of $75 for both. You can also see the 06 Retro black/metallic Vs I regret selling those as well. I think this is the last collection picture I've taken.

Theres quite a few I know I'm missing. First Retro AJ KOs, Retro black toe XIVs, Retro Mars Fire red IV..

I've sold quite a few pairs in 2010. Because I either wasn't wearing them enough or needed money. I ended up selling all my griptapes dunks, most of my jordans included the XIs and OGs except for the IVs. I still have those. And a lot of my high priced dunks. Like the Hazes, Flashes, and Wheats.

I ended up regretting the hazes and flashes and bought another pair... but the wheats are too expensive to buy now a days.

I've gone a solid 2-3 (2011-2013) years with out buying shoes... with the exception of the retro true blue IIIs. Those are always a must for me. Until last year when my son was born. The wifey started buying shoes for him, and that got me started all over again. But I've just sticking to recent jordan Releases.

I've tried to keep track of all the shoes I've bought and sold since the 2003. If I had never sold any pairs of shoes, I would have 95 pairs total.

But I feel things have changed quite a bit since:

-Retros Jordans are a lot easier to obtain now a days... good and bad. You don't get the thrill of the hunt anymore, and you kind of have to go through a lot of crap to find something.

-Used shoes are fetching a premium now since the hole restoration boom. I bought my 94 IIIs for $25 on Niketalk. Now people want at least 75-100. Crazy.

-Certain shoes are fetching premium prices... Currys for 300-800 dollars?! While SBs from the earlier generation, sellers are wanting exorbitant prices for them. So there is no way I'm able to rebuild my original collection with out winning some sort of lottery.

Love your collection! I don't want to sound any type of way but I really appreciate a collection that isn't over saturated with Jordan's.

Bro this is dope as hell to me, everything screams nostalgia and a good time. AM1 Currys are also one of my fav sneakers. Those Mita Delta Forces really stood out to me for some reason.

Cool timeline.  Brings back a lot of memories.

Repped.

View media item 1079416Picked up these from craigslist for $50. Meant to pick them up and resell them, but they're slowly growing on me.

Cousin also walked through a muddy field in the Nike IDs I sold to him back in 06.
View media item 1079421Caked up mud...
View media item 1079427Had to soak them in laundry detergent to loosen up all the mud and dirt.
View media item 1079422Never gonna be pure white like when I first made them. Unfortunately the soaking loosened up the paint on the midsoles. Those can be easily touched up though.

I've been on a goodwill/consignment store kick lately. I found a few shoes I can use as donors.. And got semi lucky finding these.
View media item 1079445View media item 1079446View media item 1079447$8.99 Jordan III Retros from 2006 sz 10. Thankfully it was all cosmetic problems. Soles were in great shape, and no rips or tears anywhere.

Cleaned up the Soles and toe cap. I've been using liquitex as opposed to the popular Angelus due to it being readily available for the midsoles. But I didn't want to try and mix up a matching red. So I bought some Angelus. Its a pretty big difference in paints. Angelus has a more "rubbery" feel once dried compared to Liquitex which is a plus. And the colors are a pretty solid match out of the bottle. Just have to be careful when mixing, since it takes awhile for the air bubbles to dissipate compared to liquitex.

Great thread and collection, man. The pics really help bring the story together.
Looks like you caught a lot of great steals on some OG's and fairly early retros. Good stuff :pimp:

Thanks guys. Much appreciated.

So I've been pretty busy the last two months. I think I over did it a little on buying shoes. I've started focusing on a lot of the older retros and some OGs if I could, as well as repurchasing shoes I regret selling or regret not buying.

My cousin has been looking for a pair of concords and spacejams for a few months already. But everything hes seen has been 250+ although he has the money to spend he's wary of all the non legit pairs. I told him if he wants I can restore a beat up pair for him. He agreed and picked out this pair of 2000 Jordan XI Concords for $80.

The XIs weren't the only shoes I picked up...

Found some really cheap complete (box, retro card and paper) Columbia IVs I'll be doing a midsole swap on these.
View media item 1133996View media item 1133997Also picked up these 1999 Cement grey IVs. I spent more than I wanted to at $120. But its a shoe I've wanted for the longest time but never wanted to pay 300+ for them (prices before the new retro). Still feels a bit weird to be holding a pair in my hands. I'll be doing a midsole swap on these as well.

Now for the non Jordans...

Nike Dunk SB Futuras... I wasn't feeling this pair when I first saw them. It wasn't until my friend bought his and rocked them in front of me all the time. But by then prices for them were in the 300+ price range. I think they're around the 200+ price range now. But I got lucky when the seller didn't know what they had. So I got it for $25. I was worried that it won't come with the nightshade laces so I was about to buy a pair, but waited till they came in and was pretty surprised that they had both laces.

One of the shoes I've wanted from the very beginning other than the Flashes and wheats, were the Forbes Denim SBs. But no way am I going to pay 1k for a pair of shoes. I remember being inspired by Customizers like Methamphibian and Akalazy to do a custom pair of denim dunks. My first attempt was pretty sad. I used the traditional method of pasting on denim fabric to a pair of shoes.

View media item 1134018Second attempt was better, but I never completed them.
View media item 1134019I was on instagram and saw someone came up with the idea to use the 2010 denim dunks and swapping the midsoles. So I went on a hunt to find some affordable pairs. Everyone and their mommas wanted 200+ for their denim dunks. I finally found a few of them that were affordable and bidded on three auctions thinking I was going to lose two of them... but I won all three. grrreeat...

So I got to work on the first pair I received. I fairly used pair denim was faded in some spots... dirty and needed cleaning but a good base shoe.

View media item 1134025View media item 1134026View media item 1134027
I set off to make the denims into their SB counterpart. I stuffed the tounge, sewn in elastic bands, tried to elongate the tounge, stuff the ankle sockliner, swap the midsole and add red stitching the the midsole. I planned on either dyeing the sockliner grey or getting grey fabric and gluing it over the sockliner. After bleaching the denim inside the sock liner I liked the results, so I left them as is... unfortunately I was pretty messy with the bleach and it leaked through the stitches and other areas. I fixed most of the problems when I was dyeing the swoosh but some other areas need to be touched up.

View media item 1134059I used the midsoles from the first pair and glued them onto the beat up pair.

Last but not least was a pick up that I happen to find just randomly on craigslist.
I regretted not keeping a pair of HUF AM1s when the Vacaville outlet had them. But I found this pair on craigslist for $70 bucks, met up with the guy and he even gave me the original HUF bag. Ha.

I still have about 2-3 more shoes that I'm waiting to come in and get to work on. Maybe even more if prices stay low.. since I started buying shoes again I tried to set a limit of under $100 that can spend on one pair of shoes and besides new releases and the cement IVs I've kept within my limit.

I'll end this update with a box collection picture since I rarely ever have my shoes in one household anymore.
