Angie Martinez Resigns from HOT97

The internet is too cluttered.

Radio and even the digital initiatives their supporting streamline all of that. Which is honestly what most people want.

Not everyone is going to listen to everything posted on Nahright, UHTN etc.

Passionate music lovers like the internet for it's variety. The casual listener, which is probably like 80+% of the US population would rather be spoonfed.

Which is why radio is still very much alive. And honestly still where a large amount of the population discovers new music. When the new Katy drops, it drops on Seacrest etc.

But they are adjusting. Clear Channel is obviously pushing iHeart Radio as a brand for a reason. CBS is doing the same with radio.com.

The internet doesn't give you what's hot.

Clubs and the streets do.

Clubs and the internet are totally different.

The internet will tell you Vic Mensa is hot. Go to a club or the streets and ask how many have heard of him.

The only times I've really seen otherwise recently was with Jay Elec, Currency, Kendrick and Wiz, because they came out as more underground artist and it spread backwards and gained a national following

In my world, Boosie isn't hot...the streets, he is.

People don't separate their personal taste from what actually is.

Yea podcast ain't the ave for new music

Who listens to podcasts to find out new music?

Podcasts are for talk radio. Joe Rogan Podcast, DVDASA, etc.

Yeah Combat Jack isn't playing new songs

Thank you.

I'm just like mytmouse76 mytmouse76 too with learning about new music.

I listen to the radio only while in the whip on the way to and from work.

Also, sometimes from you guys on here.

Sometimes from Worldstar too with the vine comps and fight comps.

It's not like when I was young wandering all over to the bootleggers looking for the new Clue tapes for some Canibus material because I thought he was going to run rap :smh:

For the most part as you get older a lot of things change and one of them for me was keeping up to date with music and fashion... I've just been grinding to save for a cribo.

Also, mytmouse you right I couldn't tell anyone of these new age rappers apart or recognize them if they were to walk right past me.

Speaking finding new music shazam gotta be the one of the clutchest apps in recent years. I actually find a lot of new music when I'm out. Some of the deep house joints they play at H&M :smokin

Yup. I've been broadening my music selection over the past few years and Soundhound has been clutch for me. Never thought I'd be a House music man. Discovered some dope music when I went overseas that's just now getting here.

I don't listen to NY radio anymore since leaving NYC, but I do catch the breakfast club on youtube. Is Angie bringing her crew with her? I remember she had Enuff and someone else working with her correct?

so before Ang was only on in NY?

I dont know who owns Hot but you would think they would already have someone with Ang's reach in other cities.

Good for her doing whats best for her and her fam. Silly question but does record her MIA show out there or will it be the same NY show broadcast out there?

SN: i'm not a a huge fan but Rihanna can be the sweetest girl until you come for her

It will be the same live broadcast, she'll just be in NY and occasionally have the opportunity to be in Miami office and still do her show. I believe the breakfast club will be broadcasting from here for the Miami Carnival.
