would all make great Biopics they all have unique stories built into they come up but 2 Pac, 2 Live Crew, Wu Tang, and Cash Money is must

Hollywood will only make biopics about universally well known, critically aclaimed, universally successful rappers. SOC was made because of what Dre and Cube were able to do with their careers after.

This is why there will never be a Public Enemy or 2 live crew bio or whatever equally impactful group or artist in hip hop.

The only rappers that have a realistic shot of having a biopic are 2pac, Biggie again, Em, Jay Z, Diddy and maybe Beastie Boys & Outcast.

2pac is the most interesting though. So many layers and events in his short life.

I feel like an outkast movie would be great but probably slept on. Not much is honestly known about their personal lives.

Idk I just had 2 coworkers swear me up and down no one would want to see an OutKast movie..

Come to think of it...yeah, nobody would want to see ah outkast movie.

But a Pac movie done right, with the hype would do numbers. Em too.

Cube said he ready to give PE film the greenlight

"(AllHipHop News) Last week, Ice Cube, concisely confirmed to AllHipHop that he’s open to tackling another Hip-Hop-based movie. While discussing the anticipated N.W.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton, which hits theaters on Aug. 14, the celebrated MC and acclaimed actor affirmed that he’s up to the challenge of creating a film about, Public Enemy.

In response to a candid inquiry about Ice Cube possibly making a film about the iconic “Fight The Power,” group, he replied, “of course; definitely.” As the conversation continued he showed further interest stating, “Let’s do it.”"

and I understand where you are coming from 2pac, Outkast, Eminem, and eventually down the road Cash Moeny/Young Money will defiantly be good biopics because they are universally well know

i dont think anyone wants a Jay film... maybe when he is dead same with Kanye

Outkast went diamond and Andre 3000 is well loved

they headlined Coachella and every big musical festival in the U.S. not too long ago im sure they will do numbers

Outkast has a HUGE cult following similar to Em and Wu Tang

I doubt any of the other biopics you guys are listing would be good other than Pac and maybe Jay-Z. I love all those other groups and think the movies could be good but they wont have white folks flocking to theaters like SOC

Em would lol.

I think to have a commercially successful hip hop biopic...you have to have an artist or group that is universally known, relevant today, and controversial in some aspect.

This is why I think Outcast wouldn't work b/c there's no real story there other than a successful rap group.

That doesn't always translate to huge support from Hollywood and big box office receipts, which is what they will need to even get a script off the ground. There's little to no "love/hate" energy or controversy with that group. That stuff sparks interest from viewers outside the hip hop community.

There's sooo many ways to tackle a Pac Biopic. Off of that alone it's a must watch. (Especially for me, since Pac is the GOAT)

But if cats were up in arms about how people were portrayed in SOC then they would for sure be HOT at  how pac is going to be portrayed

This is a big statement, but I don't think in all of music history ( black music history at least) that there is a more perfect artist to have a biopic about. He had everything. Young, had the police brutality issues, Got shot at and survived, went to jail, came out, was involved in a coastal "beef" with the east coast, has the perfect opposite for a movie that they could play up in BIG, had the thug life image popping,

and yeah, sold a **** load of records in the process

I think Jay Z is far too current to have a biopic done on him. Are biopics really interesting to people when the person is still heavily in the public eye?

Real talk.

And let's not forget his family ties to the Black Panthers. His mother being pregnant with him while in prison. Him growing up in Harlem and Baltimore during the crack era. Moving to Marin City. Linking up with Digital underground...then blowing up.

If done right, a pac movie would be a true classic.

Nobody is going to want to see no damn Cash Money biopic. Let's Be Serious.
people cared about this one cause dre and cube are popular with mainstream media and still relevant . ugk, 2 live crew,3 6 mafia etc etc. no one would give a damn bout those dudes stories.

Someone in here said people cared about this one because of what Dre and cube did after NWA and they are absolutely right.

When you consider how short of a time NWA was popping, their current relevancy was probably the biggest reason why this project was green-lit all the way until it's release.
