Anyone here have success in paying the misprinted price on the price tag.

This is probably just a misprint and not an error in the computer system.

How good is your game that you can force the manager's hand.

Def can and have done it. I worked and retail before tho. Just start saying **** about 'bait and switch'

Stop being a cheap ***! There's worst customers out there but just keep running your mouth saying that the item is 40 or 50% off..eventually the manager will give it to you.

I work in retail btw. I see this all the time.

Happened all the time when i worked at TJ Maxx

. Customers would even argue over misplaced items. "IT WAS IN THE CLEARANCE RACK!!!!". There is no reasoning with customers like that. So whenever I was a cashier and someone would bring an item that was misprinted or misplaced, I just rang it up. If they ask for the manager, the manager is gonna agree with them and make me look bad, so I just bypassed that whole deal

I'm not arguing over a price tag.

As a kid I used to switch tags around though and finesse the come up.

Probably deserve any pricing errors that got me paying more than I should.

My friends husband argued for close to 15 minutes about a misprint for a keurig coffee maker. He ended up paying $16.00 instead of $160.00. Under normal circumstances I woulda called him some sort of name but since he argued his way into a $144 discount I couldn't really do anything but give daps.

Once when I was in my teens I was in the base exchange and put a 75% off sticker on the Low top Carolina blue 18s and went up to an old lady to ring me up. My heart was beating fast thinking this isn't gonna work. It did! I Walked out as cool as I could. Never tried that again.

At my store if its misprinted were suppose to give the customer the misprinted price if the customer argues it
half the time you just go no its not this price its this price and they dont think twice

I wound up getting a pair $100 ski pants for 50 bucks one time at Sports Authority. Just kept talking to this lady and she didn't care so she said screw it and hooked me up

Anyway.

Good thread OP. I never pass up an opportunity to save a dollar. If a store messes up on a listed price, I am on it like white on rice.

Specific situations I can't remember but I see it most in grocery stores.

online i paid 69.99 for a pair of Ralph Lauren cargo jersey shorts. when i received it in the mail. i saw a different price written under the suggested retail tag for 49.99. i called and negotiated with the lady and she said that's how much the company paid to have that product made. i was like why would they write that on the tag, i demanded a discount and she refused

I think it depends on how much the item is vs how much the misprint is and the manager. I've worked retail and if misprint is a few dollars off, he have it to the customers. But if something is 50 and misprint was like 5, it's usually a no go. There are customers that would get the sticker off a cheaper item and put it in what they want to buy just to try and get that price

saw a badass duffle bag set up out of arms reach.  I used a rod to get it down towards me... saw a price tag and told the store clerk to ring it up...

dude was low-key upset when he saw the rung up price...

$300 duffle for like $60.

was very happy considering how hard it was to find a nice travel bag the day before a flight.

the bag was a display bag for years.

I have gotten bigger deals .... I'm sure the markup was crazy but still the best price at time.

If youve worked customer service before then situations like these are fun.

Believe me, if theres an item with a wrong tag or price, im walking away with that price. Not proud of it, but hey, shoudve had the right price.

Are there certain points or certain words that you should make in your argument to make it more likely for you to get that misprinted price

Bait and Switch ... False Advertising ... Scam (if it's a major chain don't use).

When I was young I went into a jewelry store and saw a Gucci watch that I been searching for ... The white face was at regular price but the black face was marked down severely. Before I asked for it I took pictures then turned the recording on and asked for the watch .
When he went to ring it up he knew something was wrong. Took about one hour and the owner to come in before I got the watch. The owner admitted he made the mistake and would honor the price but I even had to mention the BBB to get the price.

Like I said the price difference was crazy and I thought I wouldn't get it.

just curious, what is a display bag?

does that just mean you never used it and left it sitting out somewhere?
