Official Prey (Predator 5-ish) - Straight to Hulu/Disney+ Aug. 8, 2022

If it were Tom Hardy i would have hope for this movie....but i am skeptic since the OG is one of my favorite movies ever. Those childhood memories

The Predator Casts Thomas Jane
In an age where superhero movies, cinematic universes, and franchises are dominating mainstream Hollywood, it should come as no surprise that the alien assassin’s known as Predators are being given another chance at greatness. While the franchise initially launched successfully, the two sequels and spinoff crossovers with the Alien franchise put the franchise out of the minds of audiences. Now, Shane Black has taken up the task of bringing the series back with a reboot in The Predator next year.

The movie is gearing up for production to begin next month and after swapping out Benicio Del Toro in favor of Boyd Holbrook, Black has found an impressive and diverse supporting cast. Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, Moonlight‘s Trevante Rhodes, and most recently Sterling K. Brown have joined the ensemble, and it now looks as though a former Punisher will be taking on the Predators.

THR is reporting that Thomas Jane is in talks to join The Predator. Unlike the roles of most of his potential co-stars, details surrounding Jane’s role has remained under wraps for the time being. However, given his past as an action star, having him add more muscle to Holbrook’s team would not be a surprise.
Predator2 The Predator Casts Thomas Jane

Jane’s addition is the latest addition to what is proving to be a very interesting cast. None of the attached actors are the prototypical Hollywood stars, making The Predator much more of a true ensemble cast and not a one man show. That said, the cast could prove to hold more star power than believed if Holbrook is praised for his villainous role in Logan or should Rhodes continue to build off the awards recognition he has garnered from Moonlight.

Regardless of how well known the cast is prior, it would be a surprise for The Predator to be a box office disaster. Yes, Black’s last directorial outing The Nice Guys did not light up the box office, but that is not because it isn’t a quality film. In fact, some have considered it to be one of 2016’s strongest films, and if had come out after La La Land and Ryan Gosling’s awards buzz, it is safe to say more people would’ve checked that out as well. That said, The Predator is in a much different position as it has the notoriety that comes with the franchise label attached. Hopefully, Black can deliver a film that a fresh take on the Predators themselves but also a new direction for the franchise.

Hope they don't change the predator looks like.

the look to me is timeless. - nothing CGI can compare with....

This. They tried so hard to make the super Predator from Predators scary, and the CGI had the opposite effect cause it was so unrealistic.

The authentic look of the OG Predator is what made him look terrifying, especially when the eyes belong to the costume actor

Rumored synopsis/plot

Boyd Holbrook is Lieutenant Quinn McKenna (characters name might change), an elite soldier suffering from serious PTSD now working covert ops around the world. His team is trying to assassinate a drug lord in Cuba when the story begins.

Jacob Tremblay is Rory McKenna. The estranged 12-year-old son of Quinn Mckenna who lives with his mother. He’s an autistic genius who gets bullied at school.

Olivia Munn is Casey Brackett. She’s a science professor at Berkeley who’s an expert in Evolutionary biology. Basically the Amy Adams character from Arrival in the Predator universe.

Sterling K. Brown is CIA Agent Traeger. He works for an off-the-book organization who’s known the Predator’s existence for a while. He captures Lt. McKenna and recruits to help investigate the situation.

The story takes places 30 years after the events of the first and second movies. A predator spacecraft crashes in Cuba during covert ops run by Lt. McKenna. Before being captured by the CIA and Traeger, he sends part of the downed Predator armor by mail to his son Rory.

After the supposedly “comatose” Predator is revived, a race for the missing tech brings all the characters together face-to-face with something much more nefarious… THE PREDATOR 2.0 A ten feet tall genetically enhanced and more advanced Predator who will crash the McKenna family reunion in suburbia.[/img]

Not holding my breath for good expectations. It's been one disappointment after another with these remakes/reboots. I'll wait it out a bit after it's release.

I'm not confident in the idea of trying to "out do" the OG Predator, it didn't fair to well in Predators.

I enjoyed Predators for what it was but yeah, I hope they ditch the whole jungle thing for now. I much prefer them using an urban environment. Predator 2 would've been perfect but Danny Glover's character is probably in my top 5 least liked movie e characters, ever.

He had no business being able to keep up with a Predator, let alone killing one. :smh:

So they gonna fight in the suburbs now? They better not pg this crap. I want the predator to kill everyone. School bus drivers, school kids, pets, the mailman.

I didn't mean to suggest the movie didn't fair well, I personally love it for what it is. I really meant the OG Predator character. I don't like the idea of a "super predator", unless it happens to be an individual Predator that happens to be bigger/stronger than an average Predator. The way they had the super Predators hunting the other Predators in Predators was stupid IMO, and it went against the established fact that Predators are loyal to each other, look at the way they treated their fallen comrade in Predator 2, all ritualistic and ish.

I don't mind the jungle setting, but a switch up would be appreciated.

A role for Arnold ins't required IMO, but any callback to the original is welcomed, the scene in Predators when Isabelle tells the story of what happened "'87 Guatemala", is one of my favorite scenes. :smokin

True I also liked that they recognized what happened. Arnold is not needed, but would def be better if it came straight from him "Yeah, I killed one of those ugly mother *******" and just sit back and light one up :smokin
