let me cliff it

- last day of work today (put 2 weeks in). got a better job that pays 2x as much
- called in sick a for a few shifts because i needed the time off for training for new job. tried to use vacation days but my requests either went ignored or were declined
- show up to work, just another day.
- client of the hospital i work at checks up on me and my friend (we do security) a few times throughout the day. it just so happens the one time he saw us together we were in the lunch room together
- gets mad and says both shouldn't be eating at the same time.. i try explaining i'm only heating up my food cause he's done and ready to leave the office.
- calls the supervisor, who comes up to me and the convo goes like this:

her: leave your radio, keys behind, you are being relieved and you must leave immediately
me: excuse me? for what?
her: i'm not getting into it
me: ok... i should know.
her: because ______ feels like you and _______ (my partner for today) were not doing any work today
me: laughing my *** off.. check my memo book. i've done a bunch of work today, we were busy.
her: you have to leave
me: ok. i'll be contacting the union

so i got let go because they were been mad i called in sick and that they felt i was slacking today (which i wasn't).

had a perfect track record with the company (been with them for 2+ years). never been late, in trouble, written up, etc.

just loling still. already wrote the letter for my union. wonder how this will pan out. i expect to be paid in full for the whole shift.

Is there really a point to firing you on your last day? Either way you wouldn't be there tmrw

Can't call in sick within your two week notice.. Why couldn't you just train after your two weeks were up? Other jobs usually understand a two week notice and will wait for you. That's not professional at all.

Dang it probably would have been a little better if you worked that last day. That would have been cool.

The thread title and the way you worded that sounds like you dont care.

But I think you do care op.

It's petty for them to do but it was unprofessional on your part on the call ins...
Plus it sounds like they know about your new gig and want to be vindictive in a way, so if things don't pan out at your new job, you won't be able to use them as a reference.
And nothing kills a resume like gaps between employment..
But good luck with your new job...

Dude at my job retires tomorrow and has been using all his sick days. They dont seem to mind. Taking advantage of his insurance, hes been to see all of his doctors and the dentist. Smart move

I don't think is petty at all. Either the job reimburses you for your vacation days and sick days, or Im taking them and getting paid

If I were to put in my two week notice, I'd at least make an attempt to still give a **** about the job instead of calling out multiple times within the two weeks

Bridges burnt. But who GAF it was your last day

I couldn't hold off on training because if I didn't pass training (which was 2 weeks), then I wouldn't get the job. After I passed training I put in my two weeks.

I tried to do shift changes, vacation time, etc but my requests were denied or ignored. I had time off during training but they didn't wanna work with me.

You got the new gig, so don't worry about it. Any future employers will see this bit of shenanigans for what it is. File your grievance and get your full day of pay but I wouldn't stress it.

Bruh I'm not saying you're wrong in calling out, if they tied you hands. Just saying that is probably what pushed them over the edge. You did what was best for you, a bridge got burnt but hopefully you will never have to cross over it again.

No gap on my resume cause I'll just explain myself for wrongful dismissal. I got a good union that will fight for me.

I just spoke to a few ppl on the phone and this isn't the first time this hospital has pulled this stuff. Those people were able to have the union negotiate a deal, which I'm hoping for.

Also to note: I'm in good terms with the company I work for, but not the site (hospital) I was at.

I agree. It is what pushed them over the edge even tho I gave them a heads up. They just found 1 small thing to screw me over with today to let me go.

Everybody knows, you put in your vacation/leave request BEFORE you put in your resignation notice. :smh:
