just got fired for the stupidest reason in the world. still laughing hours later

They're just salty bruh. A lot of people change on you when that two week notice goes in. "Why didn't you ask for a raise?" That kinda stuff. It stings them when they see you find a better job.

^This, they know you have more courage than them to quit/resign from that job.

that's why i say **** 2 week notice unless it hurts your coworkers

my last job i speant 30 minutes talking to my mom telling her i was about to quit and got a new job offer.

then i typed up a letter of resignation and paged my manager to HIS office for an impromptu meeting. it felt great.

- called in sick a for a few shifts because i needed the time off for training for new job. tried to use vacation days but my requests either went ignored or were declined
This might help explain the situation.

Yeah not really a stupid reason, at this point it's clear to them they've been paying you to attend someone elses training that doesn't benefit them. Not really petty if it affects their bottom line.

Just to be clear, you requested days off and were denied. You then called in sick on these same days that you previously requested off?

Can't call in sick within your two week notice.. Why couldn't you just train after your two weeks were up? Other jobs usually understand a two week notice and will wait for you. That's not professional at all.
This. I've seen this happen to two people. Both were told to not bother coming in to their last shifts.

It's always good to leave a job on good terms. Never know when you'll need a recommendation or one of your future bosses is in cahoots with your old bosses, etc.

Burned a bridge my man. Trust me, never know when you may need to go back to that job.

man, everyone sit around the camp fire. im going to go into how i got fired for the first time. imma try to top yours.

I worked at a store. grocery type store, they have everything. anyways it was friday and a coworker of mine asked me to bring her a beer. shes 21 im 21, i was like alright cool. i didnt want to leaqve it in the car so i brought it in and put it in the store fridge. i tell her its there so she can take it when our shift is over. she ends up drinking 2 40's during her shift. no one notices anything. i go to the fridge, because it was my job to close everything up at the end of the day and i see the two beer bottles. I'm like :smh: I go to throw them away, and out of nowhere my manager comes out like what the hell you drank those right now? I was like "no. Theyre not mine. they were in the fridge I don't know whos they are. " She drops it but is obviously angry. I was just like, it wasnt mine.

Week after this im not on the schedule. Have a meeting and they suspended me, then 2 weeks later i get a call im fired for bringing alcohol onto the premises. Which is a stupid technicality but im sure they were just trying to come up with a reason which is what took them so long.

overall it was stupid, people brought beer there all the time and no one cared. the day manager snitched on me that im the one who brought it. i was angry at the time but in the end i started working for a better company with full benefits. so best thing that ever happened to me :smokin :smokin :smokin :smokin :smokin

Yeah, calling in sick on days you requested to have off is a big no-no. That said, them denying you days off for your new job training is some petty BS too.

Personally, I feel like sick/vacation time is time that you earned, so use it however you want. But some employers don't really get down like that. Oh well. Live and learn.

I got fired one time because my drunk aunt from FLORIDA randomly appeared at my job in mn. Fdb and **** that job. I kicked her out 39 seconds later.

Just to be clear, it was against the rules to bring alcohol on the premises, and you brought alcohol on the premises?

My job only pays out a quarter of your sick time and I have 490 hours and my last day of work is the 4th of July :x my supervisor told me to take some days.

Just to be clear, it was against the rules to bring alcohol on the premises, and you brought alcohol on the premises?

they never had me sign any paper against it, nor did anyone tell me. I also dont think its against ABC laws if i didnt open it or sell it. Also, managers and other employees had brought alcohol as gifts for each other. so, i dont know bruh.
